“Do you really? Wow, uh that’s amazing!” She blushes a little and I smile.
“What about you Tom?”
“Oh I’m a senior in high school. So, I have some time to think about it.” She looks up at me and I nod.
“We’ll talk about it later” I whisper and she nods.
“Who wants bagels?!” Mrs. Morris sings as she walks into the house. Right on cue I hear Jess’s stomach growls and her face turns beat red.
“I think you better feed your girlfriend, or she might eat us all!” Tom says and I all about choke on my coffee again.
“Enough Tom!” I say sternly “I am so sorry” I apologize to Jess. She smiles and nods
“It’s alright, but if I don’t get a bagel soon, I’m eating your brother first” She says and I smile and Tom laughs.
“Touché my friend, touché” My annoying brother responds.

“So what do you want to do today? We can go to the park, hang here, go to the movies, you pick.”
“Uhh I have no idea. It’s your town, you pick.”
“Why don’t you just come to my game tonight?” Tom asks
“Tom. Jess doesn’t want to see a bunch of high school boys knock each other around over a football.”
“Actually, I would love to watch you guys play.” She says and I look down at her, shocked.
“Really?” I ask not truly believing her
“Yeah sure why not? It’ll be fun” I nod my head
“Uh alright, what time is your game, Tom?”
“Starts at 7pm” He says and he walks into the living room
“Alright, so we have just enough time for a nice little dinner, just the two of us before the game”
“Sounds perfect to me.” I smile and I place one hand on the small of her back, and the other right under her chin.
“I love you” I whisper and I close the distance between our lips.

“Jack! Please tell me where were eating dinner! I need to know what to wear!”
“Wear anything you want.”
“Ugh, you’re no help!”
“Jess, I am serious. Whatever you wear you will look beautiful in.”
I smile and blush a little. “You’re still no help!”
“Just wear something casual then!”
“See that’s all you needed to say.” I say and I go over to my bags to pick out an outfit. I throw on a pair of dark washed jeans, a denim button down with a thin white coat, and a pair of black lace up boots. To top it off I put on a grey scarf and stud earrings.
“Babe, you ready?”
“Uh, yeah give me one more second…” I say and I run a brush through my long brown hair. “Alright, let’s go.” I say. I walk out of the bedroom and I see Jack starring.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer” I say smiling. Jack blushes
“I might just do that. But I want to be in the picture with you.” I nod and take out my phone, snapping a picture of the two of us.
“So where are we going for dinner?”
“Hmm just a little Italian restaurant”
“Sounds great”
We get to the restaurant and the two of us walk in, hand in hand. “Jack Morris? Is that you? Man, I haven’t seen you in like five years!” The man behind the bar says.
“Clayton O’Connor?” Jack asks
“In the flesh. Man how have you been?!”
“I’ve been good. Got a job a few towns over, met a pretty girl, and Sarah had her baby last month.” Jack says as he wrap his arm around my shoulder.
“Hi. I’m Clayton. Jack and I played baseball together back in high school” He says
I smile and stick out my hand. “Hi, I’m Jess, the pretty girl”
Jack and Clayton both laugh and Clayton nods. “She’s right though, Jack. She Is very pretty” Clayton says. I blush a little.
“Hey back off my girl, man! Besides, last I heard you married Lexi Hammilton. Right?”
Clayton nods “I sure did. But I compliment a pretty girl when I see one.”
“Well thank-you” I say smiling.
“Can we get a table?”
“Oh sure, bud. Right this way”
Clayton leads us over to a secluded table in the back. We thank him and he goes back to work. The two of us eat in peace, sharing small talk for a bit. Before we know it, it’s 6:45pm.
“We should probably get to my brother’s game.” I nod and we pay and leave. We get to the high school and walk out to the field.
“When did it get so cold?” I ask as I hold my arms close to my body.
“Here, take my jacket” Jack says and he drapes his black leather jacket over my shoulders. I smile and kiss cheek
“Thank-You, but aren’t you going to be cold?”
“Nah, I have my sweater. I’ll be fine”
I nod and we walk up the bleaches just as the game is about to start…
