"Before going, I will fulfil my responsibility for today."

That was what they came out with, to only have her use her ability once, in a big wave, before fainting away and resting for the rest of the day.

While some leaders would work Wong Xue Guo like a bull, Chin Chun would never allow it. The other head research departments also do not dare to, if they do not want to be killed by her parents.

Chin Chun was tough in his stand, claiming that the guards need to learn to be stronger instead of being fed. What was their use if they keep on relying on their boss to do their job?

Humans were creative in finding ways to solve their problems.

Like always, Chen Yibo dutifully followed her side. The piling-up problems stopped them from having the talk he offered, and both tacitly agreed to solve the pressing problems first before messing with their emotions.

"Yibo, I want to try something with your ability. May I?"

"What do I need to do?"

"I just need to hold your hand and have your ability to work with mine."

"But my ability is useless for mindless zombies."

"Correct, but when used with mine, it could be useful."

Compared to the first time, Wong Xue Guo's intrusion into his system was very gentle. To his surprise, his ability was activated without his doing, coaxed by her energy to do her bidding. But to his slight disappointment, their connection failed to allow him to read her mind. She must have gotten stronger or had learned to block his mind reading.

Wong Xue Guo had their ability locked at a random zombie, and just as Chen Yibo said, the zombie's mind was empty.

But that was not the reason for her using their ability on zombies.

With a playful smile on her lips, the bundle of energy that was sent to the zombie using Chen Yibo's mind-reading ability detached itself from his energy and swam straight to the zombie's brain.

Like a glutton, the ball of energy swallowed the life force from the brain and did a little happy jiggle before swimming back to Chen Yibo's ball of energy. It was behaving just like a little kid going out to play, tricking others to feed it, before going back to its parent.

Chen Yibo, who saw everything with his mental ability, found himself speechless. He now understood that his mental ability was just a jumping platform for Wong Xue Guo!

"Your shadow could have reached them faster than my ability."

"That's not true. My shadow could only move on the ground and it actually takes more energy doing so." Even when her shadow formed into a bird and fly in the air, it was actually still attached to the ground like a thin rope. "Yours, on the other hand, is like the sparkle of lights floating around."

Through the floating sparkle of energies, he could use them to connect to other people's minds.

"Isn't that bad? I must have leaked my energy out without control."

"Oh..." Wong Xue Guo's look of realization had Chen Yibo's face blanched. "Don't worry, you could stop leaking out your energy once you learn to control your ability better."

"Let's continue later. We better deal with the zombies first."

"Okay..." Wong Xue Guo's shadow continued using Chen Yibo's energy to hop around the zombies.

They had also wrongly assumed that the zombies only store their life force in their hearts, as their brains had some residue of their essence. It was only a very tiny amount, so Zene was not interested in brains.

He was a greedy man that only looked at big things.

But Wong Xue Guo was taught not to be picky by Mr Demon. As long as it had a life force, it would be valuable. Just look at the large number of heartless zombies. Absorbing all of their brains would still gave her a significant amount of energy.

Other than the brain, there was also the controller's energy to be fed from, which was left in there for the purpose of controlling the zombies. Would the zombie controller be pissed off after knowing that they were sending free food to her enemy?

After swallowing a small number of zombies that would not incur suspicion, she stopped using her ability with Chen Yibo's. Letting her shadow be seen, she performed a shadow wave to play the charade before letting herself fall onto Chen Yibo's arms after 'exhausting' herself. The absorption actually made her more healthy, and she had to pull out embarrassing tricks to make herself look sick, which was challenging her acting skills.

The worried Chen Yibo would then hurriedly carry her away before her lies would be exposed.

The duplicity would keep her safe from both the survivors and enemies, but it made her heart uncomfortable for letting other people risk their lives when she could protect them all. But Chin Chun had his own concerns over keeping her ability a secret.

And so, she was forced to rest in her room, with only Chen Yibo coming over to bring food for her. He could not stay long, as he choose to go back outside to fight.

Wong Xue Guo did some light training until the night finally arrived.

"I would have gone with you if not for the attacks," Chin Chun sighed regretfully.

Dressed in complete black, Wong Xue Guo tidied up her hair to hide it completely under a hat. Nana was the one that procured her night outfit, even finding her a black face mask to match.

"Even if there isn't, I won't encourage brother Chin Chun to come along. We need someone like you to give the right commands for emergencies."

Chin Chun's pause was rather telling, seemingly wanting to say something. Following his hint, she asked, "Brother Chin Chun, is there something you wish to speak about?"

"Is it feasible for you to strengthen some of our Awaken people?"

Wong Xue Guo paused her fingers that were arranging her hair under the cap. "Aren't we worried about people knowing about my ability?"

"We could not hide it from our trusted people. It will be a small group that we can control. As for others, we will continue hiding the truth from them."

"Then how am I going to strengthen them without them knowing?" The image of her sneaking around as she silently sent waves of her energy towards their Awaken people when they were not looking was rather a stressful image.

"Keep them unconscious while you do it. As long as you agree, you don't need to worry about the rest. Just leave it to me."

While the idea was easy and agreeable, Wong Xue Guo had to absorb enough energy to enhance the ability of the other Awakens, or she herself would be in trouble. With most of the theories learnt from Mr Demon would need her to spend energy, Chin Chun and Director Choi blocked the head departments from urgently pressing her to test out the theories quickly.

If they want her to work, they had to feed her till she was full first!

As she thinks of how to get the chance of absorbing more energy, Max drove their black car toward the temple. Fortunately, the zombie wave had stopped, allowing them to drive out of the Musihada front gate without needing to battle them.

Even if it was dark, the number of zombies loitering around was much lesser than before, likely to be the work of the person that controlled the zombies to attack the Musihada base.

To think the Musihada base had contributed to cleaning up most of the zombies in this area! It would be even more exciting if the survivors knew of it and volunteered supplies to them as a thank-you gift!

What a wonderful dream that will never be fulfilled.

But the reduced number of wild zombies also worried Wong Xue Guo. If there were not enough zombies for her to absorb energy from, does that mean she had to look for other alternatives? Such as backpacking to the next country?
