Owed chapter 6/7~

XG 119 - When are we so kind?

The scene abruptly changed before she could spew some insults at the 'young master'. They were now at a fancy house, likely to be the trashy guy's house.

In this memory, the relationship between the young master and Woojin had changed. The victim was now the hunter and the 'young master' finally learned how to be afraid until he literally peed on his expensive pants.

As she watched how Woojin finally got his revenge, Wong Xue Guo finally noticed the inconsistency. That was also why she never doubted that anyone from Seonmi's group would be Nanse.

Woojin has an ability, which means he had awakened his gene. But why was his hair completely black? The memory of Woojin torturing the 'young master' showed he had white hair, and his body mass was noticeably thinner than the current time Woojin.

Could it be that he could reverse the side effect of the active gene?

That question bugged her so much which helped kept her distracted from watching the 'young master' being set on fire and died in torturous pain. The fire was huge and quickly spread, which means Woojin might not leave the 'young master's parents alone.

As soon as the young master was burnt into a dark mess, everything turned dark and Wong Xue Guo could feel her consciousness being pulled away.

The connection broke apart and the memories had her woke up in a disgusted mood. But upon opening her eyes, she saw a worried Chen Yibo and the disgusting feeling was quickly erased by the sweetness emerging from her heart.

Dang it. Her heart was no longer well behaved and even succeeded in getting her mind to fall together.

"You are awake." Chen Yibo noticeably looked relieved after meeting her eyes.

Usually, Wong Xue Guo would retort, 'Aren't you stating the obvious?', but now she just feels sweet all over for being concerned.

In order to calm down her heart, she looked away from Chen Yibo. Glancing around, she recognized this was her own room in Musihada Laboratory. There was not even a second of memory of how she got here.

"How are the others doing?" Testing that there was indeed no feeling of pain, she slowly sat up and was careful not to dislodge the IV drip. Her action had her missed the slight hesitation on Chen Yibo's face.

"They are recovering. You are the one with the most serious injury." Chen Yibo helped her to sit up, even when she could do it herself and fed her water to moist her throat.

After emptying her cup, she asked, "How long am I out?"

Unless she had been in a coma for months, there was no way her stomach injury would heal this quickly. It must be because she was injected with painkillers to numb her pain. There was some light pulling sensation from her torso when she sat up, so the painkillers she was fed was going to be ineffective soon.

She was not willing to see how her stomach fared yet, so she focused on something else. There were only two of them in the room, with no sign of her parents.

Are they outside?

For the first time, she was actually relieved to not see her parents because she was not sure how she would react toward them. Woojin's memories let her see firsthand how weak-minded and unprotective a parent could be. Although her own parents had never subjected her to the same experience as Woojin did, she was also not happy with the memory of her parents' indifference during her kidnapped period.

Woojin really had dug out her old wounds, poured salt over them and then had her question whether it was worth getting injured for their parents. She may be tolerant of her parents, but that does not mean she was self-centered to insist on others in treating their parents the same way. He has every right to treat his parents however he wanted, as long as he could accept the consequences of it.

Thus she did not blame Woojin for burning the one that bullied him to death. As for those guys with the same uniform as the 'young master' that surrounded Woojin in front of his school, she was quite certain that their ending would not be good either. From her little understanding of Woojin, he seems like the type that once he started his revenge, he would never stop at one person.

"Six days."

Wong Xue Guo froze. She had assumed she was out for a maximum of two days, but six days?

"We don't want you to wake up midway while your mother heals you, so we put you under so you won't feel anything," Chen Yibo explained.

Okay, I'm bloody confused.

"Can you backtrack and explain what it means by my mother 'healing' me? You are trying to say she stitched up the hole on my stomach, right?"

If yes, then her stomach would look very ugly. Her mother is not good at sewing at all!

"When your parents hear that you are seriously injured... they are very angry," Chen Yibo downplayed the truth. Actually, they went ballistic. He unconsciously shivered at the violence from his memory. "Hong Yan and Lan Yan arrived after the church was almost completely burned down."

"Did they kill the church members?"

"No. Hong Yan and Lan Yan could make sure the remaining church members would not be a threat anymore so it's not necessary to kill them."

The siblings were not as angry as Mr and Mrs Wong, but their actions were truly brutal. Their actions echoed the ways of hardcore gangsters, smashing their arms and legs.

When Suzie Yap heard of what happened to Wong Xue Guo, she said that she had barely recalled the church incident from the memories of the future. She did not deem it important as it was only an event where two survivor bases were fighting each other until both collapsed. There was no winner and no loser.

That had happened a few years into the apocalypse, but Kang Xunsu's team had changed things.

The fight between bases does not affect Musihada Laboratory so Suzie Yap paid no attention to them. But to think this event she had deemed unimportant had injured her daughter badly, caused her to be full of remorse. Even if Wong Xue Guo had escaped her 'fated' death day, that does not mean she would live till old age naturally.

"What about Teacher Jang and Woojin? Are they dead?" Wong Xue Guo asked.

"Xunsu dragged them back to the base since Woojin has an ability. We promised to heal his teacher if he cooperated with us."

"Huh? When are we so kind?" Wong Xue Guo asked doubtfully.

"Xunsu is curious why Woojin still has black hair and normal body mass, so he brought him back and handed him to the researchers to check. As his teacher is his weakness, we could use him to restrain Woojin for now."

Wong Xue Guo was surprised that the student and teacher would have such a deep relationship to be useful to threaten Woojin. She had not seen Teacher Jang in Woojin's memories at all. "So, did we get anything from Woojin?"

Chen Yibo suddenly chuckled. "Woojin had actually dyed his hair. As for his normal body mass, he had stuffed himself with every food he found and managed to regain enough weight to pass as normal. We also discovered he has depression and likely used food to ease his stress."

"And burning people. So now that the mystery is answered, what happened to him now?"

"He's now in a separate cell to avoid his ability being used on others. Your parents had left before we could ask what to do with him so the researchers decided to retrieve a sample of his DNA and gene to check for any new findings."

"Wait. You did not answer my earlier question about my mother 'healing' me. And where had my parents gone to?"
