❝ Hello again, lovelies! Today's chapter has a bit of an Up vibe (the Disney movie)- I swear I didn't MEAN for that to happen lol, it's just as I was writing it I was like "Ah.. this is not an original idea. Oof." Also, it was very SLIGHTLY rushed and I haven't yet had a chance to read it over... so if there are any errors or plotholes I'm sorry, I'll go back through and edit anything I left at a later date (this might just be in my imagination, it's probably fine, idk lol). It's also pretty short today. But in any case, I hope you enjoy it!!! I can't stress how happy I am to be back, writing this story again <3 ❞

YOUR POV

The journal was absolutely covered in drawings and little poems and mementos from the adventures we had so far. Even some of our funny or endearing little conversations, ones we'd passed to each other via the Note Box, were recorded among the lines. Which not only meant they were important to Sev, but that he kept them. Every little slip of paper I put in the box for him, he kept.

As my eyes skimmed through the different paragraphs of things he'd written for me, I also began to realize he explained things he used to think, too. Like when we first saw each other again. We weren't as close as we are now, so there was no possible way I could have known how he felt... but here it was, in the journal. He wrote what he'd actually been thinking that whole time. And what he'd actually been thinking surprised me quite a lot.

I turned to a page that had a drawing of me twirling around with my headphones in. It must have been from my first year as a teacher, when I thought I was alone in the teacher's lounge, but Severus had caught me dancing to myself. My face flushed a little as I recalled how embarrassed I was... I felt absolutely deceased. But here, next to the drawing, he wrote this:

"I'm sure you remember this. I'm fairly certain, as always, I looked bored or even exasperated... but I'll tell you the full truth. Seeing you look so happy gave me butterflies. I started starving to see you smile all the time. For most of us, growing up had the tendency to break our spirits... but you looked just like you did when we were kids, for that brief moment. And again, I'll be fully honest. I admired you when we were younger. Of course, after the 'incident' we never spoke, but I always saw you. Following the marauders around with that dizzy smile of yours. So I remember this moment very clearly as the moment I knew I wanted you to dance through my life as much as you wanted. Never feel like you're intruding, Y/N, and never be embarrassed. I love who you are."
