After wandering around the tunnels aimlessly, with no sign of their kyebrs, the two came upon a dead end. The passage just suddenly stopped with no warning. y/n would have slammed into the stone wall had Ahsoka not pulled him back.

The two younglings just stared at the wall; y/n in annoyance, Ahsoka in impatience.

"Seriously? This is harder than I thought," y/n groaned, and kicked a rock near him. Immediately, he slipped and fell with a loud yelp.

"What have you gotten yourself into this time?" Ahsoka smirked and crossed her arms.

"I didn't do anything!" he replied irritably.

As she approached him, the Togruta spotted something that didn't belong.

y/n had slipped on a large piece of ice. They hadn't seen ice ever since the collapsed cliff had carried them down into the tunnel. What was this human-sized patch doing here?

Ahsoka knelt down and examined the frozen substance.

"So...?" y/n questioned and stood. He almost walked over the ice again but fortunately Ahsoka saved him from another fall.

"Ice. Hmm, I wonder why this is here," she contemplated.

"I don't see anything," y/n replied, visibly confused.

Ahsoka rolled her eyes at his lack of observation.

"Here," she said, guiding his hand to the cold, wet ice. His fingers retreated on instinct when he felt the sudden chill pass through his skin.

The boy unclipped his lightsaber from his belt and ignited one blade. Immediately, the passage they were in was bathed in a sharp red glow. The light was refracted by the ice, and sent long, white gleaming streaks glinting on the cave wall like thin white scars. Ahsoka jumped away as soon as she heard the hiss of his weapon.

Shelooked at him and asked, "Are you sure that's allowed here?"

y/n shrugged. "They'll never know."

Ahsoka was about to ask him what he was going to do, but she didn't need to when suddenly, her friend plunged the sizzling blade into the ice. The heat from when the lightsaber was activated had already started to melt the ice. Now the intense energy sent the ice bubbling and turned it all into a boiling, sizzling, angry hole of water.

He extracted his weapon from the water and turned it off.

"Now what?" Ahsoka asked, echoing the thoughts in his own head. She had recoiled from the edge of the pit after seeing the searing splashes that wetted the edge of the rock. The water was hissing angrily like a Moraband serpent, and ready to strike like one too. However, she had to admit the warm steam evaporating from the hole was a nice change to the never-ending cold of Ilum.

Ahsoka closed her eyes. She could feel something down there, at the bottom of the hole, something that called her name.

y/n did the same. He too could sense an object in the pit.

They both knew what it was. They both needed it. They both didn't have much time.

They both were competitive. And there was only one kyber crystal.
