I'm not much different than anyone else. An average fourteen year old girl who has lived in Los Angeles California her whole life. Just the run of the mill brown haired blue eyed girl named Katie. From my point of view I don't really see anything all too special about me. Another LA teen.

For as long as I can remember dance has always been a huge part of my life. I remember being a shy little two year old, eager to start taking dance lessons. At that minuscule age of two, I didn't even know what I was getting myself into. Looking back now I'm actually glad I entered the dance lifestyle. But heck I had no clue what I was in for.

Dance makes me feel ways that are truly hard to explain. When I dance I feel like I'm transported to a different world. This alternate universe where anything is possible. A society where anything is within reach and everyone is in embraced with a sense of equality. A place where anyone can tell a story. Share a message. Dance is responsible for these feelings. Dance is my passion.

Unfortunately when I'm not dancing it's back to reality. School, homework, and drama. When you hate drama as much as myself it's really inconvenient when your entire school eats, sleeps, and breathes drama. Luckily I have my best friend Liv Parker to help me get through the ninth grade.

"I have never been so hungry in my life!" I complain scooping some fresh fruit onto my tray as I proceed through the cafeteria lines. I sure love fruit, it's so tasty it's like a desert!

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you said that yesterday in the lunch line too." Liv takes notice.

"Hey, a girl's got to eat when a girl's got to eat. It's just science or something."

"Oh okay Bill Nye." Liv sarcastically replies. We grab our lunch trays and sit down at a table.

"I am so glad my mom is pulling us both out of class today so we can go audition for the ALDC!" I say happily. This is huge for us! We're both dancers and just getting the opportunity to audition for such an cool studio is like a dream come true. Even if this is an open call audition.

"Yeah but, don't get ahead of yourself, there are so many people auditioning, it would be a miracle if even one of us got to the final round."

"Well, I have high hopes so you know what I'm going to be day dreaming about next period. But if we don't get in you can come over and eat ice cream with me all night long." I laugh knowing very well that that's most likely what will end up happening.

"I'm cool with that deal." Liv grins shaking my hand to confirm our deal.
