What is the difference among kriya, karma and Lila?

SHARIRSTHOAPI KAUNTEYA NA KAROTI NA LIPYTE

(Bhagavad Gita 13/ 31)

Every Jiv can maintain the feeling of AKARTA as God remaining Sthitapragna steady and does not involve in any karma but

AHANKARVIMUTHATMA KARTARHAMIYI MANYATE

(Bhagavad Gita 3/27)

A human being because of his pride and ego believes that he is the true doer,

he can do this and he candothat too. Every kriya that we do with our pride and ego of

DOER and every Kriya that gives us favourable or unfavourable results or fruits are

known as KARM .

The kriya that is done without our concern, without the involvement of our pride and ego is known as KRIYA . Just as our body's system work without our consent or concern or permission like our Respiratory system, opening and closing of eye lids frequently, our blood circulation system, our heart beating, our Digestive system. All these kriyas are done without our pride of Karta or doer, Ego of 'Done by me' and without the expectation of fruits, result and reward .And if all Karma is done for the welfare of world by Avatar it is LILA .

BHOKTESHU LILA KAIVALAM

(BRAHMA SUTRA 21/1/33)

Just as we see Sansar and we know the power of God that creates, protects and destroys this world as his own wish is 'LILA'. We have not seen God but we believe in his power of creation, saviour and destructor as 'Doer' of everything is 'LILA".

When God says in Bhagavat Gita

CHATURVARNYAM MAYA SRUSHTAM GUNKARMVIBHAGASH:

It means that Lord has created caste JANI PRADURBHAVE. It is said that birth and caste of a person is gained by his past deeds. Any person born in a family is known by his parents and caste in which he takes birth. When we talk about his KARMA, we are talking about his creation . The word KRUTI is derived from Karma. God has allotted every person his parents, his surroundings, his caste and his destined karma according to his past birth's deeds. Hence now Lord Krishna by giving example of his own birth and birth of scholars advises Arjun to do his kartavya karma. Karma as he is born as a Kshatriya and to protect his subject is his kartavya karma.

The Word MUMUKSHU describes the awakening of a human soul who desires only his welfare and Salvation but here Arjun cannot understand how war affairs and killing his own people could bring him welfare. He thinks that war affair is a disastrous karma and it would bring him defame and shame as he has to kill his own elders, brothers, grandparents and GURU. Hence Lord Krishna gives him example of past MUMUKSHU PURUSH and told him that they have achieved welfare and Salvation only by doing their destined Karma without expecting anything for their personal desires or needs. When a soul awakens and a person becomes MUMUKSHU , he remain detached from his KARMA. But here God Krishna says that all those MUMUKSHU had already done their destined Karma as King Janak and they have abandoned the desire of getting any fruit or reward from their Karma.

The basic substance of Karma Yoga is to be steady in yoga while doing your destined karma. You can do or avoid karma. You can remain busy in activity or avoid activities; both the ways are considered as an activity of welfare. When you uplift yourself from doing and not doing anything activity, you could be YOGI and that is complete abandoning of activity and nobody can have achieve the state of complete abandoning of NIVRUTI

TAVAT KARMANI KURVIT NA NIVIDHET YAVATA

MATKATHASHRAVANADAU VA SHRADDHAYAVANNA JAYATE II
(SHRIMAD BHAGAVAT 11/20/ 9)

A devotee has to do his karma until he reaches the stage of Vairagya or he could not abandon his activities and destined karma until he has faith in the story of My Avatar. God is not bound by his karma; KARMA as Lila because he has no desire of any fruit from those karma. If a person learns to abandon the desire of fruit of his karma, his karma would not create any bondage. A person is bound only by his desires.

FALE SAKTO NIBADHYATE ( 5/12)

If a person does karma to get power and prestige, money and riches, respect and status in the society, his karma creates bondage for him .But if his goal is not to attain this perishable world or this perishable Sansar , he can remain detached from the Sansar as king Janak and his selfless services for the welfare of others give him liberation. When a person does karma for others, his flow of karma turns to Sansar, His attachment to that karma would be zero and the desire to get anything as a reward or fruit of that karma would be declined and hence he would not create any new bondage and he could make himself free from the cycle of birth and death.

Here Lord Krishna explains Arjun that you can learn to do your destined karma as MUMUKSHU awakened soul hence you do your karma for the welfare of people of HASTINAPUR. Your body and senses, mind and intellect, skills and strengths are different instruments and they are separated from your real being i.e. your pure soul. You are not a perishable body but a part of eternal PARAMATMA . Your body and sources are given to you to serve Sansar .Every birth on this earth is for a special purpose. All the power given to you is for the services of the mankind. Utilize them for Sansar and cut off your bondage of destined karma. Your detachment would make you YOGI.

In Gyan Yoga one has to abandon pride as karta in the first stage and then he has to abandon the fruits of karma but in karma yoga one has to abandon the desire of fruits in the very first stage and then pride and ego as karta.

Then what is the real substance of KARMA?

Let's understand from our great Guru Lord Shri Krishna...
