-Chapter 143: No Matter What I Do
"What are you doing here at Daybreak?" Horobi asks me, the sun shining on him just right. He looks so good in this lighting.
It must be nice being a HumaGear sometimes because they don't really have to worry too much about getting hurt by the sun. Horobi just needs to keep himself from overheating. I can't imagine what to do if that happens to him. What happens if he short circuits or something? I'll be upset to see that happen to him.
"I came to visit. I see that you were tracking me." He wouldn't do anything else.
"I wanted to be sure that you were safe. I saw you coming here, so I came out here to check on you. I wanted to be sure that he didn't send anyone after you," Horobi says, his eyes going behind me. "And it seems like I was right for coming out here."
"Huh?" I turn, my eyes going right on the few A.I.M.S. officers behind me. Gai sent them after me because he predicted me coming to see Horobi? "What are they doing here? Did he really predict me deciding to drop by here?"
"How about we team up for a moment?" Horobi asks and I turn my head, staring at him as he gets closer to me. "You're going to need assistance for this. I believe that we'll make a good team."
I pull out my belt and nod my head. "Yes, let's fight together, Horobi," I respond, turning my head back to the A.I.M.S. officers staring at us. "I believe this is the first time we're actually going to be handling a problem together."
"We've solved problems together before," he replies as I place my belt on my waist. I pull out my key and activate it, popping it into my belt.
I transform and move forward, rushing towards one of the officers. The officer ducks and transforms into his Raider form, which Gai has allowed all A.I.M.S. personnel to use. I look over as Horobi knocks the one he is fighting down. Wow, he's going ham on that guy!
"Hey, take it easy! They're humans," I exclaim. Not like he cares. He only cares about what the Ark tells him to care about really.
"I won't harm him too badly," he says, kicking the guy in front of me in the back. "Hurry up and fight him."
"Sorry..." I got a bit concerned with what he was up to. Just making sure Horobi's not killing people.
"I know you want to focus on me, but this isn't the time for that. Do it afterwards."
I turn my attention back to my opponent as he recovers from Horobi's kick. I charge forward again and he dodges, barely getting out of the way. I bring up my leg and kick him in the chest, making him groan.
I activate my finisher, which is my kick for today, and I jump up. The A.I.M.S. officer moves his gun up, trying to block me, and I kick him. He falls over and his transformation ends as the other one falls down. I hardly did work with Horobi for this, but we did work together.
"I thought you wanted to go easy on them," Horobi says, bringing up what I said before. Does he really think I didn't go easy on them?
"I did go easy. He survived didn't he?" I turn to him. "I am sure they're here for you and not me. Gai can't force me to stay in the marriage with him."
"I am aware that Jin managed to help you secure what he was blackmailing you with. It is good that you're able to live freely away from him, Mari."
I nod my head and smile. "Me too. So, Horobi, what do we do now that we kick some butt?" It is always the same two officers walking around for Gai.
"I will do whatever you wish to do with me."
"I want to watch a movie with you, Horobi," I say, stepping closer to him as I cancel my transformation. He ends his and nods his head. "So, that's a yes?"
"It is one. I told you that I would do whatever you want to do with you."
"Oh, can I learn more about you while I'm at it? I won't go into your past, alright? I just want to know more about you and what you're made of. What are you made of?" I don't know too much about the production of HumaGears, so I should learn about a bit of it.
"I'll provide you some information inside. Come on, I'll carry you there." He's going to carry me?
"Horobi..."
He moves closer to me. "Let's get going," he says, putting his hands on me and picking me up bridal style.
I stare at his face as my eyes go wide. "Horobi..."
"I do not need you holding me back while A.I.M.S. is around. If you don't let me move for you, you're going to end up in trouble with those shoes on." Of course he has to bring up my heels.
"Right..." I am not going to fight Horobi on this. "Carry me away then."
I just got to let him do him.

Horobi places me on the ground, letting my two feet touch it, and I swallow hard.
That made me so close to him! I don't know how to react right now. He's driving me insane with this. How can he just go and do that to me so suddenly? Yeah, he may have done it to move faster, but it was uncalled for!
"Thank you, Horobi," I say as my heart pounds. "I am thankful for you carrying me down here so I don't have to trip and land on my face."
"It isn't a problem for me to do so. So, what do you want to know first?"
"What are you made out of? I know what the human appearance is made out of, but the under part of you is what I want to know about." His metal and other information about him. What kind of power system does he run on?
"RHRB Metal," he states, answering the question. "I run on a battery that is made for HumaGears. I also have oil and a sensor." So, a typical robot anatomy minus the good looks?
"Interesting." He is pretty interesting. "Horobi, you're fascinating."
"I am a typical HumaGear. We run on similar things."
I nod my head. "I guess so, but I doubt they all run on the same system as you. You're a relic of the old days of HumaGears. That isn't meant to offend you by the way. I wouldn't aim on doing that to you." I look away from him as my face heats up.
"I am aware of how that was supposed to actually come off. You find me appealing and wouldn't dare insult me."
I look back at him. "Horobi..."
"Mari, I want to-"
"Mother is here!" Jin exclaims and I turn as he rushes towards us. "Mom, I didn't expect to see you come here."
"Ah...I didn't plan on it really. It was a decision I made really quick without much thinking," I tell him as he stops in front of me. "It is great to see you, son." I have no reason to not call him my son. I'm not really lying that he's my child since he kind of was raised by me and Horobi for a bit.
He grins. "It is great seeing you regardless if the decision was last second. I bet Horobi is happy to see you right now," Jin comments, bringing up Horobi's apparent happiness.
"It is nice to have her around here again," Horobi says, not saying he's happy. "She wants to watch a movie with us and we shall do so. As long as she wants to, we should do it."
"Huh? A movie with us?" Jin looks at Horobi, mouth hanging open a bit. "Should I leave you two alone for it? You know, let it be a date?"
"Humans can't date HumaGears," I mutter out, looking away from him.
"Huh? What was that? Are you complaining about getting in trouble with the law? Who cares if it violates it? Humans should be able to be near HumaGears without a problem. You should be allowed to be with Horobi without anyone judging you two."
"Jin, stop," Horobi orders. "Mari isn't seeking a relationship with me. If she wanted to, she would be putting herself in trouble. The Ark wills me to not put her in trouble at this time." So, the Ark is making him decide what to do right now, huh? Interesting.
"More like you don't want her to get into trouble," Jin responds and I look at Horobi, blinking. Does Horobi really want me to not end up in trouble with the law? "You love her a lot."
"Mari, what kind of movie do you want to watch with us?" Horobi asks me, ignoring Jin's words. "I'll let you pick."
"Samurai. You love your katana, so let's see one of those old movies with that kind of thing. I can handle it," I answer, smiling at him. "It'll be cool to see one with you. You are probably good at watching movies." Since he can pay attention to them without a huge problem.
"Alright, let's go and watch it. I must warn you, Mari, that Ikazuchi is around." Raiden? "But don't worry, he won't be in the room with us. I'll be sure of it. I know how much you two dislike each other."
"That's fine." I will just ignore that idiot if I see him. "I won't start any problems with him." I won't start a fire with him at all.
I can't prove that Raiden is back, but I'm sure he is. I'll believe it more when I see it though.
A/n: I have decided that the ending will be quite long to wrap things up. I will cover the movie when it comes out (which might be the "true ending" for the show if rumors are correct on that). There will be a lot of dark stuff in the ending of this story and a lot of bright, happy stuff as well. I can confirm from my plan out. We're going to see a new side to Mari, so be on the look out for that when the story comes to an end.
The epilogue will be a few different parts and won't follow the canon spin off materials fully since that isn't out and probably be out for a bit. Once it is out, I'll work it into my story somehow for you all. The ending will follow a bit of a new storyline and have at least thirty chapters to close out the story (that can change). This story is long, but I feel like it is needed.
