I can't believe this is happening. I just got reunited with my darling boy only to have him ripped away from me again.
I would do anything to help him, but I don't know what to do. I can only be there for him when he needs me

I looked over at Canada. A worrisome look was painted across his face.
I put my hand on his shoulder to calm the anxiety-ridden boy.

"America is going to be just fine," I said with a wavering voice to my son, hoping that I too would believe it. But I couldn't.

"You don't know that. He just got mauled by a cougar, then his wounds got infected and now he is half dead. Anything could happen to him," Canada shaped back.
I just looked down at the ground avoiding his glare, silently.

"I'm sorry. I'm just... stressed."
I chuckled, "Aren't we all."

I ran up to Russia as he walked out the door. His face wasn't the usual intimidating stone-cold it looked conflicted and exhausted.
I bombarded him with questions.
"How is he? Will he recover? When can I see my son?"
He sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"I'm not sure about any of those."
I was taken aback.
"What do you mean?"
He ran a hand through his pale hair.
"It means, I'm not sure if he'll survive this."
I was at a loss for words, so I just looked up at Russia with an expression of shock cemented on my face.
His deep blue gaze softened.

"I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I can't imagine your pain, but I don't know what else to do for your son, France." his accent thickened, but his voice was soft.
My eyes watered as I thought of losing my baby again.

"Can't there be something you can do for him," my voice cracked in the middle of the sentence.
The alpha looked at stared off with a thoughtful expression across his face.
His eyes brightened in realization.
"I have an idea. It's risky, but it's the only shot he has for recovery."

"What is it?!"

Russia looked down avoiding my eyes, it's an unnatural sight for the strong male.

"I need him to be okay with this or it won't work."
I nodded.
He looked at me one more time, then averted his gaze. I noticed a blush dusted his cheeks. It was an unusual sight to see the alpha with the reputation of ruthlessness protection with a stone-cold face and expressionless deep blue eyes that reflected the most deadly oceans, eyes that could stare into their enemies' soul and break their spirits, without skipping a beat.

I could see Russia try to word his proposal in his mind carefully, then he sighed and made eye contact with me again. His eyes shimmered like a young pup talking about their future hopes and dreams.

He then opened his mouth and let his thoughts fall.

"What if I marked him?"

___________
Sorry for this being short, but this was a stressful week.
And
It has been above 50° all week (in the day). Do you know how rare that is in NOVEMBER??
Where I live where the fastest way to get to Canada is to drive south 2 1/2 hours.

....

So let me explain the "marking/mate" thing, even though I thought I did this before.
When a person has a mate they can draw off each others energy to heal and they become stronger the closer they are.
Their mates can also help heal wounds by touching them and they heal quicker whenever they're together.

So yeah.
Have a lovely day.
