China's pov

"Sorry I failed you."

"You're fucking sorry? Sorry for what? Sorry that the only thing you did was lose that useless Brit and sexually assault the Alpha's mate? Sorry you didn't do more? Sorry you didn't take the opportunity to kill any of them?"

I stayed silent with my head bowed.

"God dammit, Red. You were supposed to make them crumble not take out your pent-up sexual aggression on some omega. You essentially did jack-shit," the person growled deeply.

I nodded my head.

"Give me one reason why you shouldn't be killed."

A lightbulb went off in my head. Destroy something that could destroy them all...
"Because I could kill the omega."

They grinned. "I like that."

Phantom hands grabbed at me. I just want them to stop. I curled into myself, shivering.

Please please please just stop.

A cold hand went on my cheek. I immediately flinched away.
"Stars, is it happening again?" I cautiously opened an eye to see my concerned Russ. I just wrapped my arms around him and held him tight in the comfort of our bed. His large hands rubbed my back and his stubble tickled my neck. I was shaking while strong, protective arms wrapped around me and hands soothingly rubbed my back.
"Vhat arre five things you zee?" Russia's accent was thick and his voice was deep and groggy from the late-night wake-up.
"Russ, it's like three AM, I can't see anything," I sort of laughed.
"Oh... yeah..." he shuffled down so that his head was on my chest. I pet his fluffy white hair.
"Vhat arre five things you feel?"
"Um. You, I guess, like your hair... warmth... um, sheets, your breath." Russia hummed and continued to rub my back. My breath evened and my body calmed.
"Two more things, Stars."
"The cold room and your love," I sang. I could feel Russia's smile on my skin. He shifted back up and gave me a quick kiss. "There's my pretty man." We both chuckled and held each other.

I wish I was called a pretty man before I died. But no. I was called a prick.

Oh, the things I haven't been called...

Pleasant?

... fuck you.

The door creaked open and I peered to see what it was.
I sat up, much to my mate's dislike.
"Ursa, why aren't you in bed?" I asked my child while she made her way to the bed with a knitted blanket and stuffed bear. Russia sat up at the mention of our daughter.
"I had a nightmare."

"Aww. I'm sorry, darling, come here." Russia reached over me to pick up the small girl. He placed her in between us. Ursa then sat in my lap and put her legs on her dad. I put my arm around her.
"What was your nightmare?" Russia softly asked.
"Well. Papa and I were hunting and a big bad wolf came and hurt papa."
Russia shot a concerned look at me.
"Well little does the big bad wolf knows that your papa is the biggest, goodest wolf." I tickled her and she peeled over laughing. Russia was still tense.
"What did this big bad wolf look like?" he asked.
"Well, He was big and red and had these amber eyes. He was really scary," she whined.
"You're lucky that your dad is the scariest alpha out there." I gleamed in confidence, while the "scariest alpha" looked quite the opposite.
"Can I sleep with you two tonight?" Ursa whispered.
"Of course, darling." Both Russia and I answered.
After she was snuggled up between Russia and me, she promptly passed out.

"Meri."
"It was just a nightmare, Russ."

I think we all know it's more than a nightmare, States.

Oh, goodness. Take it easy. If you die you'll be stuck with us. And I don't think I could live for eternity with you and Traitor bickering all of the time for the rest of time.

Hey! I'm telling him not to die.

Aww. What a softy. What changed?

... Words can't describe how much I wanna punch the shit out of you.

"Stars. I think it's worth talking about," his hushed voice made it hard to decipher between the gravel in his throat and low vocal range.
"I know, but not now. Can we please push off this conversation until a time after four in the morning, fluff?" I plead with the concerned alpha. He sighed, nodded, situated himself back in bed, and dozed off.

"Stars."
Oh no. It's his stern tone.
I smiled nervously. "Yes, Russ?"
I sat at the kitchen island while Russia was across the kitchen, by the stove.
"I think we should talk about it," Russia said solemnly before turning to face me leaning on the countertop while I sat on a stool.
I sighed. Guess I can't avoid it forever.
"Okay "

"You have to be blind and deaf to not be aware of the parallels between that big bad wolf and China. The eyes, the form, the hair," he listed.
I nodded. The tall man sighed and walked over to me. Once he was in front of me he grabbed my hands.
"I know you just think it's some random dream but I think it's more than that. You may rationalize it has nothing to do with anything, but please, Meri... Stars. Be cautious. For me," he glanced out the window at our daughter throwing snowballs at Finland-- who dramatically fell over and played dead, "For her."
"I'll try my best," I chucked.

"No Meri-" he caught his outburst that took me by surprise and took a few deep breaths. The big man sat on the stool beside me. His dark blue eyes were soft while maintaining contact with mine. After collecting himself he continued, "I care for you very much-"
"We have been mates for well over a year and have a daughter, I know."
"and I can't stand letting you get hurt in any kind of way. If anything happened to you..." he broke eye contact when his eyes started to water.
I leaned forward and placed my hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, fluffball." He smiled at the nickname. Soon after, he hugged me tightly, burying his head into my shoulder. I could feel his shaky breaths.
"Take your time," I soothed.

After thirty seconds passed, he released me. Eyes still full of tears he carried on, "I don't know what I would do without you."
"I don't know how I'd do it either, Rus."
