The game went fairly well and it just so happened that Kate decided to go stay at a friend's place tonight. Well, it was planned, but Emily didn't know this. I sent her to get food and couple things from the store, while I took a quick shower and prep the apartment for her birthday.
I set out rose petals and candles, all the works. Just for her.
I poured her a glass of wine and set it by the tub with the bottle in an ice bucket. I turned on the speaker and put on the playlist that I made for her. I drew her a hot bath and set her wrapped birthday gift on the counter.
It was just a necklace that held a small lock charm, to go with my necklace which held a small key charm.
I can't get her a necklace with my name or initial on it, so I settled for this. This way, we know it's for us, but no one else has to know.
I heard keys jingling at the door, so I skipped to it to help her.
I opened the door and smiled widely.
I took the bags from her hands and told her to close her eyes.
Before she could ask why, I kissed her lips, then covered her eyes with one hand.
"I love you too." She smiled, trying to move my hand from her face.
"Cover your eyes." I told her as I dropped my hand.
"Let me in, so I can kiss you." She pushed.
I let her step in and watched as she looked around the room.
"Happy birthday." I smiled at her.
She tilted her head at me and kissed me.
"I love you." She said, pressing her forehead to mine.
"I love you." I kissed her once more.
I set the bags on the table and grabbed her hand.
I allowed her to lead me to the room.
She opened the door and smiled at me.
She stepped in and I turned her around to face me. I unbuttoned her jeans and kissed her lips.
She let me push her pants down, stepping out of them and attaching herself to me.
She held my face with her fingers, holding the kiss.
She pulled away, smiling softly, staring into my eyes. Her thumbs lightly stroked my cheeks.
She pulled my head to her, kissed my forehead, then hugged me.
My heart skipped beats. The forehead kiss melted me.
"Are you okay?" I whispered.
I could hear her heartbeat through her shoulder.
"No one has ever put this much effort into my birthday like this. Thank you." She spoke softly.
I hugged her a little tighter.
"I got you a little gift." I told her.
"You did not have to." She pressed her head to the back of mine.
"Of course I did. Come look." I smiled, pulling away from her.
She shook her head, smiling.
I took her hand and lead her to the bathroom.
"You're the sweetest." She stopped me once we entered. She looked around the room. The candles, dim lights, light music, and the flower petals in and around the bathtub.
"You deserve the best." I told her.
"And you are so much more than that." She kissed me softly.
We undressed and I stepped into the bathtub, settling in the back, then holding her hand as she stepped in.
She sat in front of me, so I turned her to face away from me and pulled her to lean back on me.
The hot water still stung my skin, but her touches were hotter.
I hugged her tightly and let our hands play with each other's.
"I am so lucky to have you." She said running her fingers between mine.
"I'm the lucky one." I countered her.
"Baby, you have no idea how much I mean what I say." She leaned her head back on my shoulder.
I kissed her shoulder softly.
I closed my eyes and laid my head on her.
We sat still, only the music filled the space.
Small conversations took place, light singing along to the songs, and many kisses.
Once the water started to cool, we got out and wrapped ourselves in towels.
"Open your gift." I pushed the box towards her.
She kissed me quickly, then picked up the small box.
"Oh, I love it!" She admired the lock charm.
"It gets better." I held a finger up to her.
I opened my drawer under the sink and pulled out another box. I showed her my necklace, which held the key.
"It's a matching without matching necklace. You can easily hide it under shirts, but we will know that we have it." I smiled at her.
She shook her head, then pulled me to her. She immediately took my lips in hers.
"I really love them." She whispered against my lips.
"Happy birthday, Em." I whispered.
She kissed me once more, then carefully took the chain from the box, holding her hair up as I clasped it around her neck.
She assisted me in putting mine on too.
I grabbed my phone and took a picture of each of ours, then of us together, being sure to show the necklaces.
"Do you want to just watch a movie or something and cuddle tonight? I don't need any big extravagant plans." She said.
"If that's what you want to do, then we can do that." I nodded.
She nodded softly and walked out of the bathroom.
We changed into comfortable clothes, gathered snacks, and climbed into the bed.
We put on the series You on Netflix.
"This is the best birthday ever and it hasn't even really started." She smiled at me once we turned the show off.
I hugged her to me.
I had bigger plans for later in the day, but she didn't know that. It couldn't involve going out though, so my resources were limited. I still managed to plan a beautiful day for her when we woke up.
"Goodnight." She whispered into the darkness of the room.
"Goodnight." I smiled.
"Thank you for everything." She snuggled into me.
"You're very welcome." I softly smiled, holding her to me.
"I love you." She whispered.
"I love you." I met her volume.
She found my lips in the darkness, then fully settled for bed.
This was the first night in a long time that I was able to just focus on her and nothing else. Emily was the only person that ran through my head all night.
I closed my eyes and leaned my head against hers.
My whole body felt the love I had for her and I don't know how to tell her how much I love her.
One day, I will find the exact words that will express everything I feel for her.
