Y/N sighed as she walked through the crowded airport, passing small shops with expensive souvenirs. She tightened her grip on the guitar case handle and picked up the pace. She was eager to get out of this place and crawl into her warm bed. She had been in and out of airports, traveling to 7 different cities within a week and a half. It was only 11 days, but it felt like a thousand years. Especially when you're not with the one you love.

She immediately recognized a man holding a sign with her name. She walked up to her driver and quickly exchanged greetings. Being a World-Wide, double-platinum singer had it perks, like having drivers; but sometimes it can be lonely. Traveling on the road, going in and out of airports, holed up in writing and studio sessions can take a toll on a person's life, let alone their significant other.

Y/N looked out the window and looked up at the dark night sky. Stars were perfectly aligned and shining bright. She couldn't help but smile as Liam and his adorable smile crossed her mind.

"Hey!" Liam screamed out loud as he poked Y/N's side, making her jump and scream.

"Damn it!" Y/N yelled. Liam chuckled as he wrapped his arms around Y/N's waist and pulled her against his chest. "You scared the hell out of me, Liam!"

"I couldn't help myself. The opportunity was too good to pass up." Liam tightened his arms as his lips pressed against her exposed shoulder.

"I'm glad you enjoy giving me heart attacks." She let out a small sigh of content before she leaned back against Liam. She placed her arms on top of his and looked at the beautiful sunset in front of them as they stood on the boardwalk. "It's beautiful," she whispered, savoring this moment with Liam.

"Not as beautiful as you." Y/N's cheeks flushed as she bit her bottom lip from smiling like a goofball. "I'm going to miss this," he whispered softly.

Y/N closed her eyes as she heard the sadness in Liam's voice. She swallowed hard before she turned around and faced him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her forehead against his. "I'm going to miss you so much," she whispered back.

"I'm so proud of you, though. You know that, right?" She nodded. "I just hate that you have to leave for 4 months. I'm going to try and visit you when I can," Liam said.

"It's going to be more than 4 months," she said cautiously. Her eyes flickered down, trying to avoid the sadness that would come. "It looks like I'll be staying in Tokyo for a year."

Liam stumbled back as the news hit him. "I thought the tour was only 4 months long?" He questioned, wondering what happened.

"It is, but my record label and manager managed to get me a residency at one of the biggest hotels in Tokyo." The look on Liam's face broke her heart. She knew he would take it hard. He always had to put up with her life as a singer, but she knew this was different. This is a year of being apart.

"It sucks. I know it does, but surprisingly I have a huge fan base in Tokyo. So, when they found out I was already doing a 4 month tour in Japan, they made an impressive deal. I couldn't refuse."

"What about us, huh?" Liam asked worriedly. "I don't know if I can do this, being apart for a year. We've never been apart for that long. A lot can happen in a year, Y/N."

"I know and I don't want to go an entire year without you, Liam. So, what I'm about to ask you is without a doubt the most selfish thing I've ever done." She took a deep breath and got down on one knee. She looked up at Liam, grabbing his hands in hers. "Will you marry me and travel to Japan with me as my fiancé?"

Liam swallowed hard and shook his head. Taking that as a no, Y/N began to pull her hands away from his. Liam tightened his grip, refusing to let her go. He looked down at her and held his gaze as he got down on one knee. He freed one of her hands to reach for the small black box in his pocket. "You kind of stole my question," he said as he opened the box to reveal a beautiful diamond ring. She chuckled as tears filled her eyes.

"Look, I know you going to Tokyo for a year changes everything, but I do want to go with you."

"Are you sure?" She asked. "Because it's a lot. I know that. You'd be leaving everything behind for me and I don't want you to resent me later on."

"I don't care where we are at, what job I have, or what I have to leave behind. You're all I want. Without a doubt," he said without any hesitation. "Let's go to Tokyo together," he smiled. "I'm sure there's a school there that could use a coach to teach lacrosse."

Y/N laughed as tears fell down her cheeks. She nodded and leaned in to kiss him. When they pulled back, Liam grabbed her left hand and slid her engagement ring on her wedding finger. He kissed her once more before wrapping his arms around her. "I love you," he whispered.

"I love you, too."

The car came to a stop, pulling Y/N out of memory lane. The driver offered to take her bags inside as he opened the car door for her. She thanked him before she ran to the door. She opened it and immediately smelled food. Knowing Liam was obviously in the kitchen, she ran to find him. She found him pulling a pan out of the oven. As soon as he set it down on the kitchen counter, she lunged at him.

"I've missed you!" She squealed as she clung on to him like a spider monkey.

"Whoa!" Liam immediately caught her, his arms instantly finding their way around her waist. "You scared the hell out of me, woman!" He chuckled as he leaned in to kiss her.

"I couldn't help myself," she said between kisses. "The opportunity was too good to pass up," she grinned at Liam. She hopped off when the driver said he left the bags by the door and would be leaving. She looked at the pan to see what Liam was baking. "Brownies?!" She asked with joy.

"Your favorite. They need a few minutes to cool off," he grinned. "Tell me, how was your trip?"

"Good. I missed you though," she interlocked her fingers with his. "How was your game?"

Liam chuckled to himself. "Interesting. I really should practice Japanese."

Y/N couldn't help but laugh as she imagined how hard Liam must have struggled. He picked up the basics, but he wasn't fluent in the language yet. They had only been in Tokyo for 3 months and she had no doubt he would pick up the language by the end of the year.

She cupped his cheek and smiled at him as she told him 'I love you' in Japanese. "I know what that means," Liam smiled back. "I love you, too." He leaned in and kissed her cheek. "Let's take some of these brownies and sit on the rooftop."

"To watch the sunset?" She asked.

"Exactly what I was thinking." Liam grabbed a plate for the brownies as Y/N grabbed a big glass of water for the two to share. He led the way up the stairs and to their bedroom window. On their small balcony was a ladder leaning against the brick wall. He let her go first and climbed up closely behind her. They sat comfortably, with her between his legs and his arms wrapped around her waist. She leaned back against his chest as they watched the sunset.

"Do you regret it?" She asked, wondering if Liam wished he hadn't up and moved across the world for her.

"Not for a second," he immediately answered and reassured her with a kiss.
