Chapter 48.3: New Couple

"However, it seems Noct doesn't think its a good idea" Gladio said.

"More like he doesn't want to touch the subject. He can't imagine the King dying. Noct doesn't want to be king. Because he knows, King Regis will no longer be with us" Ignis explained.

"Hey, guys" Prompto said from a small distance away, followed by Noct, Squall and Cloud.

"Noct" Ignis greeted.

"Ignis" Noct greeted back.

They all stood quiet for a second.

"Is my grandpa inside?" Cloud asked.

Ignis nodded,  "he is waiting inside" he said as he knocked for entrance.

Prompto held Noct's cold hand and Noct took a deep breath and forced a bit of a small smile on his face.

Ignis opened the door and they all went in.

King Regis smiled as he saw everyone come into his room including Gladio and Ignis.

"Hey, dad" Noct said with a small smile in his face and sat beside him in bed.

King Regis smiled. He was happy to see all of them

one more time.

How did he know?

He felt it.

"How are you feeling Regis?" Prompto asked in his humorous tone.

King Regis laughed, "always so lively aren't you?"

Prompto smiled and looked at Noct.

"So..how you feeling?" Noct asked.

"I've had better days" King Regis chuckled,  "but I am happy"

They all smiled a bit except for Squall. He always had a stoic expression.

Noct smiled and then his eyes averted to Cloud and Squall.

"You two" Noct called Cloud and Squall out which startled Cloud a bit and tensed.

"Don't you and Squall have something to say to him?" Noct smirked.

Ignis and Gladio looked at each other in question.

Cloud scratched his head embarrassed, "uh... Well"

Squall shook his head and stepped forward.

"Your Majesty" Squall began to say.

"Leon" Cloud whispered to Squall to stop.

Prompto couldn't hold the cringy smile.

Squall gave Cloud a stare which made King Regis chuckle.

"Alright, what is the problem?" King Regis smiled.

"Your majesty" Squall stepped forward.
