Chapter 36

I woke up the next morning cuddled up to Jake. My head was on his bare chest.

Why was I so close to him? I pushed him away making him groan and I scooted over on the bed. I shouldn't let him get so close to me.

Jakes eyes fluttered open.

"Good morning tiger." Jake said.

"Good morning Jake." I said.

I sighed and got out of bed and I started thinking about the message.

Jake wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my waist.

"Stop it." I said.

"You're such a difficult girl." Jake said.

"Then why do you keep trying? Stop trying!" I yelled.

"Well I love you! Maybe I just love you!" Jake yelled back at me.

He loves me. He loves me. Well how the fuck did that happen?

"I love you so fucking much it hurts." Jake said.

He loves me? I looked around the room and realized there was no one else here to talk to. I ran out of the door and outside of the cabin.

There was a lake near by and I sat by it. There were also rocks by the lake so I started throwing rocks in the lake to see ripples. My reflection would move and shake each time a rock was thrown at the surface of the lake.

"Hey." Alexa said.

"Hey Alexa." I said sighing.

"What's up with you and Jake?" Alexa asked.

"He's... He's a guy." I said rolling my eyes.

"He loves you." Alexa said.

"Yeah I know." I said.

"You're afraid of getting hurt?" Alexa asked.

I nodded.

"But he's said so many times he wouldn't hurt you." Alexa said.

"Yeah that's what Dad said when we were little girls." I said.

Flash back.

"Daddy!" I yelled crying.

"Baby I'm coming." Dad said. He ran towards me with a gun.

I gasped.

"Hey hey hey. I won't hurt you. Ever. I promise. It's for protection." Dad said.

End of flashback.

"It's all just a stupid lie!" I yelled.

"Hey calm down." Alexa said.

"He's lying. Because that's what he does. And I love him." I snapped.

"He's not lying. You just don't want to let yourself trust him." Alexa said.

Alexa kissed my cheek and forehead.

"He loves you. Don't mess that up." She said and left me alone by the lake.

I continued throwing rocks at the lake. Eventually I stopped and went to quickly go get ready and everyone was at the breakfast table.

"Hey Audrey." Aubrey said.

She ran to me and sat next to me. I kissed her forehead.

"Hey baby. Did you sleep well?" I asked.

"Yeah. Jason cuddled with me and stroked my hair and kissed me and told me he loved me and read me a story and-"

"How much did you do for this little girl?" I asked chuckling.

Jason blushed.

"You're spoiling my sister." I said playfully glaring at him.

He chuckled as Aubrey ran to him.

Jake just stared at me.

"Hey stop staring at me like you ain't got no sense." I said.

He chuckled.

"You're pretty." He defended.

"Lovely. Look the other God damn way before I kick your ass." I gritted.

He chuckled and smiled at me but looked away.

We ate breakfast in awkward silence.

"Jason I'm full." Aubrey said.

"That's ok." Jason said smiling down at her. He kissed her forehead

"She's your princess to spoil." I said chuckling.

We were soon done with breakfast and Alexa told me she'd do the plates. I didn't want to argue so I nodded.

Later today everyone decided to put on bathing suits and go have fun in the lake. Except for me. I didn't want to do anything partially because I was still stressed about the text. Ok maybe it's the whole reason.

"Come on tiger have fun with us." Jake said.

I shook my head as a tear left my eye.

I wiped it away and ran to my room. I locked the door and took out my phone to see more text messages.

You're making the right choice by pushing Jake away because I'm in love with you. I love you baby doll.

Who was this? Maybe it was someone in the gang my age.

I sighed and started crying.

The door opened and I saw Jake who had picked the lock. I quickly put my phone away.

"Hey." He said.

"Go away." I said.

"You can't keep shutting everyone out!" Jake snapped

"I'm not shutting everyone out. I'm just shutting you out. There's a difference." I said.

"Look. I know you don't trust me but I'm not going to hurt you. I've said it before. Whatever your Dad did to you I'm sorry. But I'm not going to hurt you. I promise." Jake said looking at me straight in the eye.

I searched his eyes and saw nothing but the truth and sincerity. Tears suddenly left me eyes.

I ran into his arms as he opened his arms.

"Please don't hurt me. I'm already broken." I said sobbing into his chest.

"I know tiger. We can stay in bed and cuddle ok?" Jake asked.

I nodded and he picked me up bridal style and carried me to bed.

"I love you." Jake said.

"I love you too." I said.
