daughter off hell 23

Start from the beginning

I grumbled. He snatched the map from my hand and laughed. Laughed pretty damn loud and annoying.

"A scavenger hunt?" He chuckled.

"Goddess, that's why I love that girl."

I tensed and turned my head around slowly to face him. My hands were balled up to fists and I tried really hard to keep my calm.

"What did you say?" My voice sounded low and dangerous.

Luke's eyes widened and he raised his hands in a gesture that said; 'easy dude.'

"Easy dude. It's a matter of speach."

I wasn't reasured. Somewhere I knew Lucas wasn't a threat, but when it came to Luci all rational thoughts dissapeared and I couldn't think straight anymore.

I knew he was my friend and that I couldn't hurt him. Bros before hos, right? But the logic part of my brain was drowned out by the possessive feeling for a certain red-headed brat with an attitude.

Switch P.O.V. (Lucas)

"A scavenger hunt?" I chuckled.

This was so Luci. I genuinely liked her.

"Goddess, that's why I love that girl."

I saw Seth go tense. What was up with him? He got riled up way to easy by that girl.

"What did you say?"

His voice was low and threatenting, and I knew he wasn't messing with me.

I ruhed the words out of my mouth.

"Easy dude. It's a matter of speach."

I could feel he wasn't reasured. I wasn't a strong empath but his feelings of violence and possesiveness pounded against my consciousness. There was no way I was going to calm him, he was a almost mated male. This meant that he realised who his mate was but hadn't claimed her yet. That she walked around unclaimed by him made him unsure of her and triggered every possessive instinct he had. The smallest thing could set him off and I wasn't planning to stick around to see him explode and let him find a outlet for his frustration, namely me.

I cautiously walked to the door and made a run for it when someone opened the door and collided with me. We fell to the ground in a tangle of red hair.

That was all Seth needed to send me flying and pull Luci up by her arms and push her against the wall. He snarled in her face. He looked scary as hell and Luci didn't even flinch.

"Get out of my face, asshole."

She actually rolled her eyes in an annoyed and bored gesture.

"Demons, what are you spitting irritating about?"

Not the right thing to say to an angry Seth.

"What the fuck do you think the problem is?" He all but spat in her face.

Again the bored expression. She was either very brave or very, very stupid. But for some reason I thought it to be bravery. Something about Luci told you she had seen the worst the world could offer and expected the worst and nothing someone else was going to be more horrible than what she had gone through. It was all in the way she held her. I didn't understand how Seth could miss this. He was used to intimidate a lot of people and had never come up against someone who didn't fear him, or at least respected him enough to be impressed. Luci was neither and it only made him angrier.

She threw her hair out of her face in a graceful movement. Her eyes started to glow a more brilliant green. The clarity her eyes always got when she was ready for a fight.

How come I knew all that stuff about her? I didn't knew her for even a week. Well, maybe I had more spy in my blood than I had firs thought and maybe it made me more observant. It was something my dad had thought me: 'Always stay on your guard and keep an eye on everything, even the familiar. You never know what's lying around the corner to get you.' He even had went so far as to poisen my soup and see if I would notice in time. I hadn't and had to be rushed to the poisons advice centre. My mother had thrown a fit, the only time I could remember her stepping up to my father.

"I wouldn't ask what the problem was if I knew it, wouldn't I? What are you so mad and possessive about? Did Luke try to steal your candy? Shame on him."

Shame on you, shame on you,

protect the dodo way of life,

there goes our last female!

Ever since Seth had told me about Luci's strange fascintation with the dodo's from iceage I couldn't think about the words 'shame on you' without picturing the movie and the extincted birds.

Tae Kwon dodos, attack!

Protect the watermelon.

Hilarious. But wait? How did she know Seth was feeling possessive about her? I had thought she didn't know his feeling for her.

"Your a fucking whore! Do you have to jump every guy you see?"

"Who the fuck do you think you are? You have no right what so ever to judge me! You don't own me, you fucking bastard! No one does and I can do what the hell I want to do, because that's the deal with freedom! I might not have it for that long, but I understand the basic principles of it!"

"You don't even know what freedom is! Your a prisoner in your fight to do as you please. There will always be rules that you have to take in consideration, Luci. You're such a teenager! What? You have daddycomplex that you feel the constant need to fight the system of life? You love being a rebel and forget what it stands for."

"You don't know shit of me! So don't ever make assumptions about me. 'You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.'"

"Quoting Robert Heinleim doesn't make your attitudeproblem right."

"You are too close minded or too much of a spoiled litlle rich boy who knows absolutely nothing about life or the pain it can bring. But let me try to explain it to you with a little help of Alber Camus. 'The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.' Cause that you stupid jackass is why people rebel, because sometimes it's the only chance of survival you've got left. Cause rebellion gives hope, and hope keeps you going. Even if things don't look good.

So don't give me shit about an attitudeproblem. If I have one, I'm damn right entitled to have it."

Somehow she had gotten free from Seth's arms and ran in a dead sprint from the room. I stopped her and forced her around to face us. Her fight with Seth weren't leading us anywhere. It was time they both realised they had an attitudeproblem.

I looked at her face and kept staring at her in chock. Not because of the sudden violet ring around her normal fluo green irises but because of the haunted look in her eyes. She was caring secrets with her from a past, not even close to forgotten.

"Let me go, Luke."

I couldn't react, those eyes, the pain in them.

"Don't make me hurt you."

I could feel her desperation, her confusion. Her turbulent feelings made me dizzy. I kept staring at her face and only looked away when I heard Seth gasp. I looked over at him and followed his gaze. His eyes were fixed on Luci's bare leg that came out from under her skirt. Thin, entwined lines started forming a pattern over the entire lenght of her leg.

"The angelsword." I whispered.

So it was true after all.
