Chapter 32: I broke my own rules…

We hopped into the car and began to drive, Keith was saying how he wanted to take me to some place special where it would be pretty because it was early in the morning, though he wouldn’t tell me. I just starred at him, my feet on the dash board crossed, Keith was laughing as I talked about some stupid youtube video I had seen.

It was great, feeling the wind in my hair as the windows were rolled down, the radio cranked up and our voices sounding. I looked at Keith, his dark hair blowing in the air as he starred at the road, one hand on the wheel and the other leaning out the window. I couldn’t help but smile at the sight. We pulled up and parked slowly, it was beautiful. The sea was amazing as it glistened and sparkled, the sun was behind a couple clouds as yellow shined through it.

“Welcome to Typee Island.” Keith spoke kicking off his shoes and throwing them through the car window. I chucked mine inside to as I let the sand go through my toes as we walked hand in hand to the water, we stopped midway, the sand moist and wet underneath my toes. I wiggled them and jumped when I saw a crab. Keith laughed.

“Isnt it pretty?” He asked I nodded in response, as I starred out, listening to the waves crash the steady breathing of both of us. “We use to come here all the time when were little, and just mess around. Usually every summer we’d come down here, stay for a week and then go back home.”

“Really?” I asked, entwining my fingers with Keith’s

“Yep.” He answered, I giggled and turned to face him as I pulled him with me to the water, he laughed. I stopped where the water touched my toes, but Keith pushed me slightly towards the liquid.

“Stop.” I laughed not wanting to get to wet.

“Nah.” He shook his head, and I jumped in the air hoping he would catch me, and he did…bridal style! As he carried me deep into the water.

“This is not why I wanted you to hold me.” I laughed clinging to him.

“Then you should have told me.” He laughed as the water reached to the top of his jeans, and brushed against the bottom of my dress. He put me down and the water touched higher to my waist. I knew I would regret it, having to deal with Amilia later, but right now I didn’t care.

“Thank you.” I whispered as I grasped Keith’s waist for support, the waves were slightly causing me move away from him

“For what?” He questioned

“Everything, like really. This wonderfully day, this is defiantly going in the book of best days ever.” I smiled.

“Really?”

“Totally.” I laughed.

“Well then I’ll just have to make it not the best day, more like the greatest.” He nodded, and then his head lowered and mine went up a little as our lips touched and moved together. It felt good, really good, it felt good to be in his arms his lips touching mine, it felt good to finally be in a good mood after what had happened in the week. Though when I thought that everything would be worse it did get better.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to come move here, stay with the Garrison’s because if not then I wouldnt have met the amazing family I had, and got the amazing friends I have too. I’d think after my grandmothers death and including moms, I didn’t think things would get better. But, it had. Everything was much..much better.

Keith pulled away and smiled down at me, “Greatest day yet?”

“Heck yeah.” I muttered as I laughed loudly when a wave came causing Keith to get soaked and I literally do mean soaked, from head to toe. He frowned and flicked his head as some water flew off, he picked me up high and then threw me backwards as I laughed and landed in the water going under. I remember when dad use to do that to me, picked me up high and then throw me as I landed into the water. I swam up and frowned, trying to glare at him.

“My hairs all messy now.” I rolled my eyes but Keith laughed and swam over to where I was, kissing me quickly.

“Your hair looks amazing.” He complemented.

“Your doesn’t.” I laughed joking he shook his head and pulled me close to him as he hugged me and we sunk under. I opened my eyes and saw him starring at me as I laughed and let me go. I sprang upward and looked around for Keith, though I couldn’t find him. I frowned and then was being lifted from behind. I landed on his shoulders as I sat there.

“I’m heavy put me down.” I laughed hitting his head. He did as I said  as we walked back to the shore. I collapsed and laid down, snuggling into Keith’s side as we just laid there.

“Don’t go to sleep on me.” Keith laughed, I shook my head, I was close to falling sleep. “I’ll be right back.” He said moving and standing up as I watched him leave towards the car. I sighed and then yawned as I felt a blanket go on top of me.

“Please don’t go to sleep. You’ll regret it promise me.” He shook his head.

“I wont.” I laughed as looked up at the sky and then yawned again.

“I think it’s time to go home.” He laughed.

“No, not yet.” I mumbled as I listened to the waves crashing loudly. “You know, when I came here, the first day, remember when we had dinner and then Carson was like being a jerk. I wrote that I wouldn’t tell anybody about my life because only bad memories would rise. I said that it was safe to keep my past locked up in box and then hid the key. But…the thing is…I used that key to open the box, and slowly everything came out.

Well, I mean not everything, there’s still stuff you don’t know about me, and stuff I don’t know about you. But soon it’ll have to come out. I really didn’t want anybody to know anything, because then I’d get attached and then I’d go back to California, and I’d have to leave you. I broke my own rules, I did get attached to you guys and soon I’ll have to leave, and then nothing will be the same anymore.” I drifted away as I drew in the sand, I was laying on my side facing Keith but I wasn’t looking at him. He was also laying on his side facing me, and I knew he was starring at me, but I couldn’t look.

“Raine…when are you going back to California?” Keith asked, I watched his hands make a weird dog shape thing in the sand.

“When dad is back for good, see when he gets shipped out, he can only come visit twice and third time he’s home for good until maybe like a year. But, I don’t know. I’m sure that when I leave I wont come back, I’ll probably be shipped off with another family friend.” I shrugged.

“Then I guess I’ll just have to talk to your dad.” Keith spoke, I looked up and he was smiling, I raised an eyebrow.

“Talk to me day, ha,ha yeah okay.” I laughed.

“What’s wrong with your dad?”

“He is very protective of his only child...his little girl.” I answered, Keith scooted closer as he laid on his back, I couldn’t help but lean on his chest and listen to his steady heart beat.

“We’ll just see about that now wont we?” He spoke, I nodded against his shirt. “Hungry?”

“Starving.” I laughed.

After we sat there for a while, we went to the board walk and got some hot dogs and funnel cake, when we got that, we walked back to the car heading home, we just talked the whole way about really nothing. I know this may sound weird…or maybe crazy because it hasn’t even been a day yet..but I think I was starting to love Keith by the minute.
