It was warm in the bed Adara lay in. She could vaguely hear Cale next to her, breathing calmly. She felt the warm bodies of the kittens cuddled up in between her and Cale, she could feel the dragon's claw resting on her stomach.

She slowly got out of her sleeping state, becoming more aware of everything around her.

She could hear breathing from the other rooms, breathing patterns that had become so familiar she could tell that they belonged to Choi Han, Rosalyn, Lock and all his siblings. She could not hear Beacrox, but he always slept in the room adjacent to the kitchen.

And then the small bodies of the kittens started moving, waking her up further. She heard vague sounds and hushed discussions, but no fear went through her body. No assassins have come for her in a while, and the nightmares have been left untouched.

It was quite peaceful here in Harris Village, she knew the war would start soon so she was trying to enjoy it as much as possible. Though she did sometimes have work to

And then there was a warm body on her chest, a paw on her cheek.

"Hmm?" she murmured, still sleepy. She knew it was Hong, as On had less sharp nails.

"We will wake up the wolf siblings," Hong whispered. "And then we can go outside as you promised!"

Ah, yes. She had promised. "Sure," she mumbled back, her eyes slowly opening to see Hong's golden eyes staring at her so excited. "Don't wake Lock up."

Hong nodded eagerly.

And then he was gone, with the claw on her stomach as well.

It was cold outside, she was sure her cheeks were a stark crimson though she hadn't drunk any alcohol yet. The snow was glistening, giving a satisfying crunch when she stepped. It was very cold, the cold freezing. But the kids enjoyed it, they specifically denied Raon's offer to cover them in a warm spell. They wanted to feel the cold on their faces, the cold so sharp it made their eyes sting.

Of course, all the adults rejected the idea of letting all 13 of them go outside without any jackets. So the children were all in full gear, even Raon. They had three layers, with a thick jacket on top. Only two layers of pants, also with thick pants on top. Two socks, with an extra thick one on top and winter boots. They thankfully only had one knit hat and only one pair of gloves. But it was an option to give them two scarves for a while.

Honestly, Adara thought it was too much. If they got sick, they got sick. It wasn't like they would die, and Raon could always heal them. And even if Raon was too sick to heal them, she and Rosalyn could always do it. There were enough options. But she had promised Rosalyn that she would dress them in all of the clothing, and so she had.

But they were slowly losing all the excess clothing. Adara pretended not to look when the children got rid of the extra socks, shirts, and pants. Though now there was discarded clothing all around.

She was dressed in winter clothing as well, though not as excessive. She only had the boots, the jacket, and the pants. Underneath she was still in her nightclothing. She was sitting down on an armchair Raon made for her, watching the children and making sure everything was safe. Beacrox, who was awake early to prepare breakfast, had handed her a spoon of hot chocolate to taste test. She liked it so much, she got a cup of it and brought it outside.

Beacrox said the recipe was not done and that he still needed to make it better, but she did not care. If it could get better than the drink in her hand, she knew Beacrox would be the one to do it.

She was humming a song Cale had been singing since the first flakes of snow fell. Cale had been teaching her Korean and she was teaching him the language of the Ancient Times. He also tried to teach her English, but what he knew of the language came mainly from songs. So he was teaching her songs instead.
