Ike hasn't seen Hotshot since he got knocked unconscious in Brooklyn and spent the night there. But they have been sending letters to eachother since, its been a week since the incident, and a week since they got caught kissing on Hotshots bed. The only person who knows is Racetrack, or atleast the only one in Manhattan. Usually, Ike doesn't keep secrets from Mike, but he decided to keep this one to himself for the time being, just because he knows Mike won't take it too well he's dating one of the boys from the scariest gang of newsies in New York. Especially the biggest and toughest one. But Ike also found Hotshot was the sweetest and softest out of all of them, he's also super attractive, those muscles, his dark hair, literally Ikes type. That specific day, Ike and Hotshot agreed to meet up, they had a specific spot picked out and everything and a specific time.

Once everyone went out to get papes, Ike told his brother, "Hey, so I'm gonna skip on selling."
Mike frowned, "And do what?"
"Uh-" Ike needed to think of something, "I'm gonna spend today trying to find better selling spots, then I'll tell you tommorow what I find-"
"Oh I'll go with you-"
"No!" Ike nervously shouted, "Nono, Mike, you need to sell today."
"But why do I have to sell and you don't?"
"Cause I'm older and I said so."
"What?! How is that fair?"
"It just is, you sell and I'll see you tonight, ok?"
"Fine." Mike frowned and left with the other boys to the World.
Ike sighed and left for Brooklyn.

There, he found his way back into the allyway where he actually got knocked unconscious. He thought it would be a hilarious idea when he sent that letter to Hotshot suggesting they meet up there. On his way there, Ike was trying to figure out what he was going to say to Hotshot, also if he was going to kiss him again. Maybe it would be too soon, especially if this a first date. When he got there, he saw Hotshot waiting for him, reading a newspaper, it didn't seem like he waited for very long.
"Hi." Ike smiled at him.
"Hey." Hotshot smiled back putting the newspaper away.
"Hope I didn't keep you waiting."
"Oh no, don't worry about it. So, where do you want to go?"
"Let's go to that park and see the Brooklyn Bridge." Ike said plainly. Hotshot was alittle shocked at the suddenness, but smiled nonetheless, "Sure, any reason why?"
"I've never seen it from Brooklyn." Ike shrugged.

Hotshot smiled and nodded, they started walking towards the east River. On their way there, Ike held Hotshots hand, interlocking their fingers together, "I almost forgot how tall you were." He said.
"I almost forgot how cute you were." Hotshot kissed his hand,
Ike frowned, "That's not fair, I was planning to give you the first complement."
"Too late, darling, already did."
"Well I was the one who lead the first kiss so-"
"No you weren't." Hotshot laughed,
"Yes I was!"
"Kissing my hand after I got caught in a mouse trap doesn't count."
"It counts to me." Ike smiled, resting his head on the others shoulder.

When they finally got to the park, Ike got super excited at the view of the bridge, "It looks even better from this angle."
"Really? I'd assume it would look the same."
"No, I like it better from Brooklyn, another reason why I want to come here more often."
They sit down on the grass and talk. Ike making Hotshot laugh and vice versa. They ended up with Hotshot laying is head on Ikes lap as Ike played with his hair, leaning  his back against a tree. They both relax and embrace eachothers company. "I wish we did this sooner." Ike sighed,
"I know, I'm sorry, but things have been busy with Spot and everyone."
"How come?"
"Bart and York have been getting into fights, Myron went missing for a bit, and Spot has been spending time with Race so I've been fixing everything on my own."
"Doesnt that get tiring?"
"I guess, but it isn't fair to leave all that up to Spot."
"It's not fair to leave that up to you either."
Hotshot shrugged, "I guess." He sat up beside Ike and took out his box of cigarettes, "You mind if i-"
"Go ahead." Ike smiled, not at all minding, though he made sure to look away when he used his lighter.
Hotshot noticed, "You ok?"
"Yeh, just not a big fan of fire."
"Oh, why, if you don't mind me asking?"
"House got burnt down when I was little, that's why I'm an orphan."
"I'm so sorry." Hotshot took his hand sympathetically.
"It's ok, I'm not too bad with flames, it's Mike that has a really bad phobia of it."
"Mike?"
"My twin brother." Ike smiled.
"Oh... Mike and Ike-" Hotshot laughed, making Ike burst out laughing, "Yeh, used to be Michael and Isaac."
"Fair enough." Hotshot exhaled, Ike looked at him and reached his arm out to try and take Hotshots cigarette, but Hotshot lifted it out of reached, "Have you smoked before?"
"Well- no but-"
"Then no."
Ike pouted and gave up trying to take it. "Do you have any siblings?"
"Probably," Hotshot chuckled, "But non that I lived with."
Ike nodded, "You're lucky, growing up, Mike winded me up so much I had to resist the earge to strangle him."
"You seem very close now."
"We had to be. We are all we have left. Without eachother we are practically alone."
Hotshot looked at him, "You'll always have me."
"Oh don't be sappy." Ike joked, pulling him into a hug, "But thanks." When they pull away, they stare at eachother, "I am totally fighting the earge to kiss you right now." Ike gasped, leaving Hotshot to burst out laughing, "Want me to take you back to the lodging house?"
Ike nodded quickly as they got up and headed back.
