1 .  When do you begin your writing routine?  (morning, afternoon, day, evening)

I begin early morning, before work, and continue throughout the day, using any downtime I have to write/work on writing related projects. I'll usually stop for the evening around 7:30PM.

2. What do you need for your writing routine?  (laptop, notebook, etc.)

Desktop computer preferably (I'll use my laptop if I'm out of town), notebooks, pens, post-it notes, phone, music + headphones, internet access, water + coffee (if it's before 3PM)

 3. What is your main focus, when you're working on a story?

Well to be fair, it depends on the story I'm working on and what phase of writing I'm in. If I'm just starting a draft, my focus is to get my thoughts written, and perfect my prose later. If I'm editing, I'll be looking at tightening spots that need tightening, and expanding on those that need more detail.

  4. What is something important you've come to learn, since you've begun writing?

What HAVEN'T I learned?! Patience, for one thing (I still struggle with this one) and also that not everyone is going to like/appreciate your writing, and that's OK.

5. Do you believe having some sort of writing routine is helpful?

I believe it's essential to stick to your deadlines/plans, and it's really great for organizing and staying on track.

6. What is a writing strength of yours?

I'm not easily perturbed when I'm "in my zone".

7. What's is a writing weakness of yours?

I tend to overwrite or give too many details.

8. Do you ever share your writing outside Wattpad? (other social media platforms, family, friends)

I do share most of my work on my social media outlets; whether it be to draw new readers to my story, or to share artwork that I've made or received from fans.

9. What's a good piece of writing advice, when it comes to beginning a new story?

Focus on writing everything down, and don't edit or search for the perfect sentence yet. Get your thoughts out; they don't even have to be organized yet, if that works better for you. You can organize and polish things up later.

10. Who is an author you admire and why? (on or outside Wattpad)

George R R Martin is my favorite, though I'm angry at him for *still* not being done on his Song of Ice and Fire series!!

11. Do you believe an author interacting with their readers is important?

On platforms like Wattpad, absolutely. Otherwise, it depends on the interaction. If a reader reaches out with questions, then I do believe it's important to take the time to answer those questions. But when it comes to responding to reviews or things like that, then no; I don't think the author should say anything to those.

12. How do you believe a writer can build a fanbase?

By writing! The more you write, the more you have to share, the more you CAN share. And by interacting with readers, other authors, showing that you're open to communication and interaction. By thanking your current readers and welcoming new ones!

{Story overview}

Title: GHOST PORTAL

Status: ONGOING

Genre: paranormal/spooky/mystery

Summary: If you're triggered by something sinister, do you seek its meaning, or do you leave it alone?

Small-town barista and occasional stray animal rescuer Jessamine Spencer never would have guessed that a video about missing paranormal show-host Amy LaRoya would rile her up so badly, to the point of having nightmarish visions of the house where Amy was last seen, and an ominous sense that she'd been there before.

But when Amy's fellow paranormal host Avery Boomer turns up at Jessamine's coffee-shop asking questions, he discovers that Jessamine is in fact linked to Amy--because she WAS at the mystical house Amy was last seen at. The problem is, Jessamine doesn't recall any of the circumstances that led her to be there, nor how she escaped. And Avery needs to locate Amy, because her final footage seems to imply something was after her and might have gotten to her; something clearly supernatural in nature.

If Avery convinces Jessamine to help him, will she recover enough of her memories to navigate to this mystery house, and hopefully find Amy there? Or is there more hiding in the forest--forces and prophesies that Avery and Jessamine will never understand?
