"Fess up, darling. I know that Niklaus gave you the daggers. I need to borrow one so that I can put an end to my own suffering."

Lydia let out a soft giggle as she held her phone against her ear, listening to him complain about his brothers on the other end. Lydia imagined that Klaus and Elijah weren't easy to work with and she was beginning to feel glad that she wasn't there. She would be soon. Tomorrow to be exact. She would be heading down for the engagement party. Lydia was relieved to finally get out of the house. With Stefan staying with her, Lydia wasn't as bored, but she needed to get away.

"It's just one more night, I'm sure you'll be fine," Lydia assured him.

"I do not think that I can last one more night without you by my side, darling," Kol sighed dramatically.

Lydia let out a small laugh."Kol, what are you going to do without me when I go back to class in a week?"

Kol was silent on the other end, causing Lydia to wonder if the call had disconnected, but just before she could speak again, he finally said something."Perhaps I could enrol in a few classes. School is better than the torture those two put me through."

"I can debate you on that all night long," Lydia quipped."But it would be nice to spend more time with you. I miss you, Kol."

"As do I," Kol replied gently."At least, I did. Until now."

Lydia frowned at that last part, wondering why it sounded like an echo and why Kol would say that he no longer missed her. That was until she glanced up and saw Kol leaning against the doorframe with a small smile on his face.

"Kol!" Lydia exclaimed, quickly jumping out of bed and rushing over to her fiancé. She didn't hesitate to press her lips against his, causing Kol to grin and wrap his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him and kissing her deeply.

"If this is how I am greeted every time I leave, then I should leave more often," Kol said jokingly when his lips pulled away from hers.

"Don't even think about it," Lydia shook her head, relieved to finally see Kol."What are you doing here?"

"I couldn't let you travel all the way down to your engagement party by yourself, now could I?" Kol mused."It would also be in poor fashion to have you show up to your engagement party without a ring on your finger, wouldn't it?"

"You got me a ring?" Lydia sounded a bit surprised. She knew that an engagement ring was customary, but it had been a while since the engagement. She didn't even realize that she still didn't have one.

"Of course I did," Kol answered."However, it will have to wait."

Lydia scrunched her eyebrows, tilting her head to the side."Wait for what?"
