Left for Dead - Part 1 🔞

Start from the beginning

Once Sakura had finally reached her apartment building, she felt the full weight of today's events settle heavily upon her shoulders and without so much as turning a single light on, she locked her door and made her way to her bedroom before plopping down onto her plush sheets, shoes and all still clinging to her alabaster limbs. She turned her head to the side belatedly and eyed the compact safe next to her double-wide dresser closely. She had close to three million dollars hidden within its metal walls (much from the delight of her previous "expeditions'') and a small smile tugged at her plump lips while her viridescent eyes slowly closed on a relieved sigh that her burden was still safely tucked away from any prying eyes. At least for the time being that is.

The old geezer that she owes the cash to has ZERO idea where she lives now (nor how to find her) thank goodness, but even still... it might be a matter of time before he uses his resources to do so, so it might in fact be time for her to look for new employment and provisions elsewhere. 'Time to move on yet again,' Sakura thinks to herself as she lets one final thought enter her mind before slumber. 'Maybe I am a little bit greedy... but I suppose that is just one of my many transgressions; my sin.'

Present day...

Her back felt stiff and her eyes fluttered as a low sound to her left roused her from sleep. She only had a split second to react after opening her viridescent eyes before a large, looming shadow hovered over her. Then a startled scream escaped her mouth when a disfigured thing landed on top of her, snarling. Her arms outstretched above her head as she tried to shove the... human, creature, maybe beast... away from her face and her eyes widened as she stared at it, frightened beyond belief.

This "thing" was grotesque at best... with its void-like eyes bulging from their hollowed-out sockets and its long, lanky and bone-like...though surprisingly strong... limbs hanging from a malnourished looking body. Its teeth were a ghastly shade of green and brown mixed, while its maw was wide and filled with razor sharp teeth and its wrinkled skin was a pale shade of grey-ish white that covered its lanky figure loosely.

"Fuck," she hissed under her breath as her arms began to shake with the effort of holding this creature back and she felt her heart palpitating wildly behind her expanding ribs as it's face drew closer and closer to hers. "I-I... c-can't..." Sakura let out a loud and terrified scream when it snapped its jaws closed... missing her nose by a hair. The creature let out an angry screech, rattling her insides in the process and she felt the small bit of hope within her melting away.

'This must be it, my time to go. Confused... scared... and alone—'

The pinkette witnessed from her peripheral another figure charging at them, mere seconds before the creature was thrown off of her as the newcomer threw a fist to the side of its head, sending it flying into the sea. It let out another terrifying... excruciatingly loud screech as it made its way back to the sand slowly, before it became distracted by a young man's anguished screams. It then scurried away to join its kin in devouring this man, while he was still alive. It made Sakura's stomach feel queasy and she felt a wave of nausea overwhelm her senses.

Sakura began to feel slightly lightheaded as she gazed up at her rescuer, who looked back at for a moment before he stretched a hand out to her. "Come on...," he stated before helping her quickly to her feet. "We have to find a place to hide; it isn't safe here." Sakura's jaw dropped as he began to drag her down the beach by her wrist, but she had little to no time to question him on his motives OR their current situation before they were attacked again.

The pinkette shrieked as the black-haired stranger fought off the new creature in order to save her and when he told her to run, she hesitated. "I can't! I'm wearing heels... and this skirt is— WAIT! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?! STOP!!! I PAID GOOD MONE—"

Rip.

His long fingers brushed her thigh as he dragged the fabric apart from the small tear he had created and he told her to lose the heels before punching and then kicking another of their attackers. "Just take these...," he said before bending to pull off a pair of sneakers from one of the deceased that lined the beach. She started to hesitate, the look of disgust plastered all over her face, but the stern gaze from him left her speechless. "No time to argue, just do it!"

After Sakura had slipped her slightly calloused heels into them and (sadly) discarded her black stilettos, he grasped her hand once again... intertwining their fingers together... before taking off down the sandy beach at a quick pace—

... into the unknown.
