It was almost midnight and you suddenly realized that all your friends had disappeared among the party guests. It was normal for this to happen when everyone had boyfriends and you didn't.
You looked at the watch on your wrist and realized that midnight was approaching, so you headed to the bar to order a glass of champagne.
"Drinking alone?" A male voice spoke as he stopped beside you at the bar.
"It seems so.", You replied.
The bartender handed you your glass and the man beside you ordered champagne too.
Suddenly the people at the party started counting down.
"10...9...8...7..."
You looked around the party.
"6...5...4..."
And then you glanced at the stranger beside you, who was also looking at the guests in the center of the room.
"3...2...1..."
"Happy New Year!", Everyone exclaimed.
"To the new year?", The man suggested a toast by raising his glass.
"To the new year.", You confirmed making the glasses clink, hoping that the new year would bring you someone special.
