"Stupid fucking, Morant." Xander says, earning laughs throughout the room. "Shut up, Xander!" Coach says. Practice ended about thirty minutes ago and we're now watching film. We play in a scrimmage against US Davis next Saturday, meaning we're currently watching some of their game film from last season.

Scrimmages don't count against us but we still want to kick whoevers ass we're facing. The Aggies in this case. Xander had just insulted Caleb Morant, a cornerback for the Aggies. He was a junior like us and a good fucking player. He's been going up against Xander since he started playing here at Oak Hill.

Don't get me wrong, Xan is an amazing player, but Morant is on his ass sometimes which stops him from making plays. I warn him to cool it because it's just a scrimmage game, but I know he's still going to go all out. Just like I am. It's been a while since I tackled someone.

I don't go that hard on my own teammates at practice because I wouldn't want to hurt them, but when it comes to other teams, as fucked up as it sounds, I don't care. I go all out. I just hope the scouts are taking a good look at my footage because I want to get drafted.

I already made my decision to play my senior year as well, but that doesn't mean I can't get drafted this year. If I entered the draft, there's no doubt I'd get to the NFL.

"Valdez, if you're not covering any of the receivers, I need you to sack this motherfucker." Coach points toward the quarterback on the huge promethium board. "Yessir." I say.

There's no doubt I'll be able to get a couple of QB sacks this year. I'm going to have more help in the back field meaning if there's a chance, I'll get a sack in. Although I am focused on the scrimmage, I can't wait for the regular season to start. Football means a hell of a lot more to me when the games actually count.

I love this game with everything in me. I'm extra grateful that I've been lucky enough to stay healthy throughout the seasons. I don't know what my life would be without this sport.

We go over more tape for about an hour more before coach lets us go. "She's hot as fuck." Rhys exclaims, nudging Cgc as we walk back to his car after film. "Who?" Xander and I say at the same time. "No one." Cgc says quickly as he unlocks the car. I furrow my brows. I can see the suspicion in his features.

"Who, Rhys?" I ask my friend in the passenger seat.

"This girl he slept with on Wednesday, names Maddy."

"You stupid bitch, Rhys." Cgc groans. I sigh, shaking my head. Of course, he never fucking listens to me. I should've known. I wonder if Novalee knows.

He looks surprised when I don't lecture him about it. I honestly don't have the energy to, otherwise I would. "Who's Maddy?" Xander says, looking down at his phone. "A friend of that hot red head Valdez dated in high school." Rhys explains. I shake my head. Again.

"Nice," Xander doesn't look up from his phone, but gives Cgc a pat on his back. "You alright?" I look at my best friend with a frown. He looks up at me and nods his head before looking back down.

I've known him for a while now to know when he's lying, but I can't seem to read him at the moment. He hasn't really been acting like his normal self since Wednesday, I noticed. "Needa get laid?" I joke. He looks up again momentarily, gives me a forced chuckle and then its back to his phone.

I frown. Something is wrong and I need him to tell me before I start frowning with him. I hate seeing people I care about upset. I set a reminder in my head to check on him later.

9:30pm

I have successfully forced Xander to come downstairs and watch a movie with me.  He's still being a little quiet, so I'm lucky he says yes. We've been watching Fast Five for about an hour now and I can't help but look at him every ten seconds. Still, his features hold zero emotion.
