Falling in love is very real, but I used to shake my head when people talked about soul mates, poor deluded individuals grasping at some supernatural ideal not intended for mortals but sounded pretty in a poetry book. Then, we met, and everything changed, the cynic has become the converted, the sceptic, an ardent zealot.

She would be lying if she didn't say how satisfied she was at the thought of Lukka entering her home and meeting her family as her lover, the one that fate gave to her and one that she would cherish forever.

Lukka may look cold and detached from wordly affairs or one may have the impression of him as a difficult person to talk to because of his intimidating presence but once he started his goal he would give his all to make it happen.

Like how he wanted to meet my family and introduced himself as the man that their daughter likes.

Right now, we are facing my parents with my mother who can't seem to keep her sight away from the charming young man that her daughter wanted to introduce along with my father who looks like his favorite bottle of wine was stolen from him under his nose. After I knocked on the door which was opened by George who has his eyes almost bulging out of his sockets and who immediately called out for our parents.

We were now sitting in the dining room, my mother sent daggers at me and I already knew what was about to come off her lips.

"I'm sorry Lukka, my lovely daughter seems to have a short term memory these days, she didn't even tell me that you will visit and if I had known I would have cooked a feast instead of just this" her tone was regretful and she didn't forget to send knives to her words.

One thing that every mother is afraid of is not serving their guests their full potential and shorting them of food.

"It was rude of me to come here unannounced, it wasn't your fault ma'am" Lukka was sitting upright as he speaks, polite but the coldness seems to be thwarted.

"Oh no, don't call me ma'am, just call me Aline!" My mother waved her hand, her smile seems to be plastered on her face, and is about to reach her eyes.

My father on the other hand seems to have taken the job of an investigator the way he scrutinizes Lukka. Mom was to the rescue and elbowed him under the table which I caught easily.

He coughs first and started. "So you're Lukka, huh? You don't look like a Lukka" That sounds a bit cocky dad, I thought in my head. "How did you meet my daughter again?"

Shoot! We didn't have time to create the story of how we met! It's not like we should be honest and tell them that your daughter was a wolf-obsessed lady and met a real-life werewolf who is thought to be fiction and somehow fate decided that they should be mates and voila, happily ever after!

"We met at the forest, she was an enthusiast at nature as well as I, my family lives near the forest, and she entered our territory that day"

"You shouldn't enter someone's property without their knowledge and approval, Selene" my mother was quick to point out my wrongs and I can only bury my head like an ostrich and let the pot be given to me.

"By then we became close due to our love for nature and the fact that my cousin is a classmate of hers and we had some intersections in our life that leads to us being close and eventually, I fell for her" his eyes fell on me, reflecting the fondness that he no longer resist making me blush.

"Aww, that is so sweet!"

In the corner of my eye, I see my father moving his lips as if he was saying something underneath his breath and was elbowed once more by my mother who has a smile on her face but the chill that it brought's to my father that made him sit upright was comical.

"So you two are now in a relationship?" Shoot, I almost forgot about my brother, George, who was looking at him quizzically.

"We are" I simply stated, my eyes narrowed when he opened his lips and I knew it gut was right.

"You're too obsessed with wolves that I thought you'll get a man transforming into a wolf as your boyfriend"

My hand slipped and the loud clatter of my spoon rang into the corner of the room. I almost bit my tongue at his words, I knew he was gonna say something!

Lukka looks like his interest was piqued and leaned closer to the table, his eyes focusing on George.

"That's another reason why she travels in our house some days, we have a wolf as our companion"

"A wolf? But they're wild.." He trailed off and I almost laughed at their interaction, he doesn't even know that he's talking to a wolf himself.

George was never interested in this topic, heck he doesn't even like animals and always teased me over obsessing over wolves.

"They are but when a wolf treated you as one of them, you'll always be a part of them" his voice was soothing and even my parents could see the genuine affection he has for wolves.

"They truly are wonderful then Lukka but I'm afraid that our time for chit chat is over, dinner is now ready!" My mother interrupted at such a heartwarming moment and put a hateful of food in Lukka's space.

Our conversation stopped and even though I could see that my father was still reluctant to the idea of me having a boyfriend, he offered a bottle of wine, his favorite one.

Although mother didn't show such abundant feast she did her best to give such hospitality treatment and a plateful of warm, home-cooked food.

I pushed my favorite meatloaf, one that my mother does with such absolute goodness. He pushed another meal in my direction as well, with a smile I put a mouthful of macaroni and cheese in my mouth. Of course, our shenanigans were seen by my family which my father cough and my brother making disgusting faces at me.

"How is the food?" My mother asked with a sweet voice, her eyes sparkling in excitement.

"Thank you, Alaine, your food is amazing and it tastes like it was done with love"

"Oh thank you!" It was a compliment that every chef loves and the fact that it came out of her daughter's boyfriend makes it even more special for her.

After we finished our lunch, my mother told him to sit in our living room and she'll give us a surprise and of course, my gut was telling me something again and my premonitions were correct when I saw my mother holding a photo album on her hand.

"Mom!" I hissed at her but she just swatted me and gave the photo album to Lukka whose eyes are now filled with expectation.

I wanted the ground to swallow me down when the pages opened up to a bawling baby version of me, all snots and tears were clear to be seen.

"You look cute" he whispered, his eyes mirroring a horrified me.

"I don't!" I lift the pages to another photo, one from my eighth birthday and a nature-inspired birthday party along with a pretty grin on my face.

I watch him rub my face with his thumb, his whole expression softened and I could see specks of tenderness flowing from him.

"I look beautiful there right?" I grinned mischievously when his eyes lifted from mine and eventually redden from the intensity of his eyes. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Because you look beautiful" my blush deepened and then he continued. "Every single day I find myself falling for you and I'm glad that fate led me to such a stubborn wolf fanatic female"

At that time, I knew he really did fall for me by the look of his eyes. And I did as well.
