37 || Unaware of the danger

There are times when the unseen can be even more dangerous than what our eyes behold.

The town looks the same, no presence of magic, not something amiss could be felt in the serene small town of Wilsbrein. It's as if everything was in place with nothing out of place like how you would see in a supermarket.

I and Everlyn decided to get out and jogged this morning, I wore my spandex shors that were beginning to rot from my drawers along with black stretchable leggings and grey comfy hoods.

The day was particularly bright today, perfect weather that wasn't either too cold that you can't get out of bed and too hot that you would rather stay at home with a fan In front of you.

I breathed in the fresh air as we hogged along the park, it has been a long since I've been out. My skin absorbed the hues of the daylight that peeked out behind the big trees surrounding the park.

I breathed in and out as my feet stepped on the land of my home, Everlyn was much more fitter than my lazy ass self but I relished ok the comfort of being out.

It has been two days since I've last seen and heard from Lukka, he mentioned that the pack would create plans to combat the magic that threatens surrounds the town which I still find myself hard to believe.

He has also given me a protective amulet, an obsidian stone that was said to be chanted with a spell from a witch, one that they are housing in currently. It was turned into a necklace, one that I have worn for the past two days after he told me that I should keep it close in me at all times.

"Go, Selene! I know you can do it!" I heard Everlyn screaming at the top of her lungs which made me flare up in embarrassment after seeing the eyes of people on me.

"You stop it!" I hissed and stop her from screaming out her lungs again.

It was then that I realized that there's a lot of people that are out today. I know that there's always a lot of people on a Sunday morning but after the disappearance of people, the crowd lessens, and only those who work were out this early.

"Why is there a lot of people today?" I ask Everlyn and proceeds on taking my bottle of water.

"Because it's Sunday" she stated in an obvious tone and continued. "Besides Bert decided on a huge ass party today. Honestly, even if he was such an asshole he is good at throwing parties"

"Don't you remember? We almost got lectured by the police " I wiped my face and continued not seeing the confusion in her face. "Besides there's a curfew-"

"Curfew? What is this? The pandemic?" She laughed and proceeds to walk away from me to go to the nearest cafe.

I stood there agape at her words, confusion was drawn on my face as I stare at her back. Looking around there's a lot of people strolling around with no police officers patrolling in every corner of the town.

There's absolutely something wrong.

"Hey, what are you standing there for?! Follow me!" She grabs my hand and we walked into the coffee shop that almost half of the elderly population in this town go into.

"Why are you here?" I suddenly burst out asking, after all, Everlyn always says that this coffee shop is so old school and is home to some stuck-up elders who don't know how to have fun.

"Cause a hot guy is working here oh- there he is!" She pointed at an elderly guy which I cocked my brows at. "Not him, him!" I look in the direction she's pointing at and saw a very familiar guy.

It was Skoll.

Then I scowled, he was flirting with Everlyn! This flirt! I turn to my right to see Everlyn with her eyes all mesmerized at him as she blushed after receiving a dazzling smile at her which I snorted in response.

"How may I help our two beautiful customers?" He was slick I tell you that, even the elderlies would be captured at this flirtatious boy.

"You can resuscitate me cause I think I need oxygen" Everlyn flirted back, her tone breathless and a seductive layer could be heard in her tone and I wanted the ground to swallow me.

I even pinched at her waist but it was like pinching a wall, she was numb and continued to blink her pretty green eyes at Skoll who is now smirking at me, his eyes were clearly telling me that he was the winner.

"Can I have a latte and some breakfast sandwich? She'll have an iced coffee, thank you!"

He jogged down our orders and left but not before leaving a wink to our table letting my friend collapsed into the table with a fascinated expression.

"I'm in love"

"You're in lust"

She glared at me before gazing fondly at Skoll, her eyes were like stars as they glitter upon seeing that flirtatious wolf. I knew it, she was pitted at the honey trap that Skoll made and willingly fell for it.

"Don't even think about it"

"Why? Do you also like him?"

"What- no!" Absolutely no way, why the hell would I even fall for that guy. Ugh! That's so ugh!

"Well to be fair you have Lukka" she winked at me and then laughed loudly after seeing my flushed face which earned her some judgmental stares from the other customers.

Soon our order was placed neatly on our table, Everlyn made it her goal to flirt back at him every second of the day which he did almost happily. The other customers were also captivated by his face that they follow his every movement, even the elderlies and I find myself laughing at that.

I finished eating my breakfast for today while trying to get my old, sane friend Everlyn the same but she was like enchanted by that dude named Skoll and never returned the same again.

God, I wish she won't let me come here and the third wheel their flirting session again because it's disgusting!

After returning home, I also notice that mom didn't come home before six as well as dad. I knocked on George's room and was dismayed to see him out.

It was like everything returned to the same state before the cases of disappearing people resurfaced and I'm the only person who didn't forget about it.

And it spooked me as well as terrify me how I'm the only person that is still aware of the frightening things that are happening in this town.
