"Hello?" I answered Ash's call.

I tried my best to sound casual and unbothered. I really tried my best.

Pero ang hirap.

Sobrang hirap.

Ngayon ko siya aayain sa last date namin. Buti nalang pumayag si tita Amanda sa huling request ko. Medyo nagalit pa si Paul nung una pero sa huli ay wala rin siyang nagawa. Umalis nalang siyang bigla. Hindi ko alam kung saan siya nagpunta.

Tita Amanda arranged hidden bodyguards for us all throughout our Singapore trip tomorrow. We'll be safe.

[Yan!] he said. He sounded so excited.

"A-Ash."

[We just found a matching stem cell donor for Morganne!] he said happily.

"W-Wow. T-That's great news!"

[I'm so happy, Yan. Makakabawi na ako sa 'yo. Sa lahat ng oras na 'di ko nabigay sa 'yo.]

"I'm really very happy for her, too."

[Are you coming later? Sabi mo pupunta ka this week. Baka magtampo na 'yun si Ganne sa 'yo.]

"H-Haha. Of course I'll come," I said as I wiped my tears. Ni hindi ko man lang namalayan na umiiyak na naman ako.

[Great then!]

"And Ash... I have something to tell you."

[What is it?]

"Paul's here in the Philippines."

Silence.

[Does he still want to talk to me?] he asked.

"I told him not to if it's not important. So I guess he won't anymore. I just want to tell you about him so you know. I just didn't want to keep a secret."

[Thanks, Yan. Appreciate it. See you later,] he said before hanging up.

Nag-chat si Ash sa akin na si Sky daw ang maghahatid sa akin papunta sa Valderama Medical kasi nandun na raw siya at walang kasama si ate Morganne. Dumating naman agad si Sky kaso medyo traffic kaya natagalan pa rin kami bago makarating sa ospital.

Pagdating namin sa hospital room ni ate Morganne, binati lang muna namin siya ni Sky. I kissed Ash on the cheek and tried my best to contain my tears. I kept on thinking about happy thoughts. Pilit kong inalis muna sa isipan ko na aalis ako, na iiwan ko siya.

Hindi rin nagtagal si Sky kasi may pupuntahan pa raw siya. Naiwan kaming tatlo ni Ash at ate Morganne sa loob ng hospital room. Si tita Mariela ay wala sa sa loob, may kausap daw na kabigan sabi ni Ash.

Nagkatinginan kami ni ate Morganne ng medyo matagal. I looked at her and memorized her, too. Despite her condition, I think that she is still luckier than me. At least, she can live free. She can stay with her loved ones without harming them...

"Thanks for being here. Akala ko 'di mo na ako dadalawin, e," she told me. Umupo ako sa harapan niya. Katabi ko si Ash na nakahawak sa aking beywang.

"I'm just busy with life. But I'm always by your side, ate Ganne. Life is important. And you're one step closer to being successful. So please fight until then," I said. I bit my lips hardly to stop myself from crying.

I saw how a tear fell from ate Morganne's eye upon hearing what I said.

"I will. Thanks, Yanisa," she said.

Sobrang pinipilit kong huwag bumagsak yung luha ko pero mukhang nabibigo ako kasi ramdam kong basa na ang gilid ng mata ko. Sakto naman na nag-ring bigla ang cellphone ni Ash.
