Halloween.

The one day of the year that was supposed to be her Slaying day off. No demons, no vampires, no drama.

Hence why for the first time in a while she was still in bed, soaking in the warmth of her bedding as she watched some trashy reality show.

However, the yelling coming from just outside of her bedroom was interrupting her toasty fantasy.

As the voices started to grow louder, Buffy turned screaming into her pillow.

She missed living alone!

"Ugh!" She mumbled into her pillow before forcing herself out of bed. She was going to kill Elena and Jeremy.

Leaping out of her bed, she yanked open her door and glared furiously at her cousins "If you two are gonna kill each other do it quietly!" She huffed out, wrapping her jumper tighter around herself as she narrowed her gaze at the pair.

The pair jumped in shock at her sudden fury, momentarily halting their screaming match.

Elena sighed before throwing up her arms in frustration and storming downstairs in a tantrum while Jeremy turned to Buffy "Where did you get the lighter fluid for the fire at Hemery?"

That was not what she expected him to ask.

Clearly, the Gilbert Siblings' war was getting worse. The whole Vicki situation had left the pair of them yelling at each other every five minutes.

"You can't set fire to Elena!" Buffy exclaimed with a laugh before shrugging "It would be too messy. Plus the person who got me all that stuff is dead."

RIP Watcher Merrick.

Ignoring Jeremy's now shocked expression Buffy just started rubbing the sleep from her eyes "Look, I can't stop you from looking for Vicki so just....be careful. If you get hurt Elena will kill me."

Honestly, she did not want Jeremy going out there but if she tried to stop him he would just be craftier about sneaking out to find her.

Plus, she knew Vicki was with Stefan trying to gain some form of control as a baby vampire.

Jeremy couldn't help but snort in amusement at her words "I will." He promised before moving to head down the stairs but not before glancing back at Buffy "You look like you have a cat in your hair."

Buffy frowned before raising her hand to touch her head "Oh no."

"I started that fire Buffy, I couldn't control it. What if I ended up killing someone?"

Swallowing the bite of her egg and bacon sandwich, Buffy sighed in concern at Bonnie's panic.

Apparently, while she was off in Slayer world and preparing to get answers out of Stefan, Bonnie had gone full witchy at the car wash. Starting a fire after an argument with another cheerleader. A fire she had lost complete control of. Leading to a car going up in flames.

Twirling her milkshake Buffy pointed her straw at the young witch "Okay, Bon, seriously you need to talk to your Grams. To start learning control."

Bonnie groaned and leaned back in The Grill booth rubbing her hands over her face.

Everything about being a witch was so stressful and she hated it.

"Can you come over after the whole Halloween party stuff?" She requested throwing Buffy her best puppy dog look. Just because she was starting to get her Grams to talk about this stuff more, she needed the support.

Buffy was still the only one that took this whole witch thing seriously.

Everyone else thought she was crazy.

"Please..." She could see that Buffy was hesitant to get involved with the family drama, but she needed Buffy there "Help me talk to her. Pretty please!"

"Are you sure you want me there?" As much as she wanted to be there for Bonnie, it felt like crossing a line by getting involved in the Bennett family drama.

"Other than her you are my magical go-to. I need all the magical help I can get."

Buffy snorted at that "That is something I never thought my life would come to."

She was The Slayer, just because her friends knew magic and she sometimes understood it...to a degree, didn't mean she was going to be much help.

"Please...Grams makes a good pot roast."

That was one way to get Buffy to agree. She had heard rumors about the legendary Shelia Bennett pot roast.

She seriously could not say no to that.

"I'm in. You know she might kill you for spilling the witch's secret."

Bonnie let out a nervous laugh causing Buffy to quirk a curious brow. She was missing something here.

The witch just looked down, focusing on her own milkshake as she tried to avoid eye contact with the curious girl now staring at her intently "Okay!" She finally surrendered as Buffy purposely pulled her milkshake away holding it out of her reach.

"I kind of already told her you knew."

Now the sudden invite to the Bennett family witch dinner made a hell of a lot more sense.

Shelia Bennett was going to grill her.

"Bonnie."

"She wants to meet the non-witch who somehow knows everything." Her Grams had been stunned by all the knowledge Buffy had managed to give her. The blonde had even given her a witchcraft book that her witch friend from Sunnydale had sent her.

She seriously needed to meet this witch friend!

Her notes in the book were so detailed and interesting.

"Speaking, how is it you know again?" She knew there had to be more than just having a witch friend.

Buffy sighed deeply at the question. She really wanted to tell Bonnie everything and while she had hinted at things, Bonnie was already going through enough.

Dumping her on problems on the new witch was not fair.

"I want to tell you I do. But you are just not big with the freaking about being a witch. If I add more supernatural Scooby Doo crap onto you now--"

Bonnie winced slightly.

She hadn't even thought that there might be more than witches in the world.

Just the thought caused terror to fill her.

"Actually, I don't want to know yet. Let's do this piece by piece."

Probably a safer plan for her mental health.

Buffy knew firsthand how much damage learning everything at once could do. She had literally had a breakdown and spiraled thinking she was crazy.
