"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." Michael Jordan

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Forge: “make or shape (a metal object) by heating it in a fire or furnace and beating or hammering it” New Oxford American Dictionary

When iron is cast it is usually full of impurities and voids that make it susceptible to breaking at weak points that are often invisible to the naked eye. The process of forging, or hammering, drives out the impurities in steel and ensures the metal is as dense as possible, with uniform strength and hardness. The steel used to create the legendary katana, or samurai sword is folded and hammered out many times to ensure its quality; you can see its effect in the layered appearance of the blade. Like the metal used for swards, in the beginning we are cast with a future purpose, but we are not prepared or ready for that purpose without forging. The trials and failures in life are the hammers that forge us into something we could never be without experience. While the process can be painful, let's try to appreciate the qualities that can be formed in us through the trials of life. Impurities such as greed, selfishness, and arrogance are most effectively removed from our character through the hammering of failure. Failure may never be desired, but it can always be appreciated, because with it a new opportunity of success is born. But this time we are stronger to meet the challenges through the forging of past failure.
