"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." Dr. Seuss

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39

Affection: “the act or process of affecting or being affected” New Oxford American Dictionary

In selling, there's an idea called up-selling. It subscribes to the idea that you can make more money and possibly attract more customers, not by deliberately trying to attract more possible clients, but by offering more and better services to your current clientele, usually at little or no extra charge. In doing so, the client is so impressed by the service they're receiving, they naturally want to buy more things from you and also recommend you to others. It's a tried and true method of selling, but what if we used the same method in loving? We know that love changes both its giver and receiver, but it can be hard at times to spread your love to people you've never met and do not know. What if we up-loved? What if we offered more and better love to the ones we already love? Couldn't that create an environment where love is reciprocated back to us and a situation where are hearts are filled with more abundant and better love? If we were filled with abundant love, couldn't that make more love available for others we may not know or have ever met? The idea of up-loving, to use a cliché, “kills two birds with one stone.” We increase the love we have in our lives and increase the love we can share with others. Let's try to up-love in our lives starting with God and see what can happen.
