Integrity transcends partisan beliefs and values. In the moment, people may disagree, ridicule, or even hate you based on decisions rooted in integrity. But time has a way of uncovering immoral desires and vindicating virtuous motivations. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were not popular with everyone when they led this country, but today they are unanimously respected and loved by democrats and republicans alike, because their decisions and values were not based in partisanship or malice, but in integrity and love for their country and the people inhabiting it. From now on, let's do our best to make decisions based on eternal values that foster respect, if not good will. Let's make every choice as if it were being critiqued by our peers and judged in a court of law. And let's value the compunction we feel after a bad decision, because it can guide us to an improved lifestyle, based on the trust of our peers and the respect of even our adversaries.
