Forty Three

Corey's POV- August 2016

I set the mug down and covered my mouth as I yawned.

"Tired?"

I looked at Martin and nodded.

"Yeah" I admitted.

I rubbed my face with my hand and let out a deep breath. I was exhausted, but I did tell Kat I would be here.

"What time did you get back last night?"

"We got to the airport at 11:30, but there was an accident so it was about 1AM by the time we got home" I told him.

Joc and Trayce had been too tired to get up, and Jacey had a sudden practice so she couldn't come. I came alone, and that meant having to drive here on my own.

"Do you have a game today?"

"Yeah, at 7pm" I said.

"What time is practice at?"

"2:30" I said as I spotted Alex and Kat making their way over.

"You've got time to nap then"

I nodded and heard a squeal.

"You have no idea how happy I am for you Angie!"

I turned around when I heard Maddy laugh to see her hugging the bride.

"Thank you for coming, it means a lot to me"

Maddy scoffed.

"Remember what I said I'd do to attend your guys' wedding"

The bride laughed.

"You'd miss work, it's a good thing the game is a 7PM one"

I chuckled and Maddy turned to look at me

"Hey! I didn't know you were coming!"

I nodded and the bride looked at me then turned to look at Maddy.

"Corey plays for the Dodgers"

The bride nodded slowly and raised an eyebrow.

"He's also Kat's boyfriend"

Maddy smiled and nodded.

"You're telling me that this handsome guy is Katalina's boyfriend?"

I smiled as she signaled at me with her hands.

"You're Katalina's boyfriend?"

She looked at me and I nodded.

"Yes" I said.

She smiled.

"Hi Corey, I'm Angela and I'm a hugger"

Maddy looked at me.

"Come on now Corey, get up.

I laughed and stood up. Angela grinned and looked up at me.

"You're so tall!

She hugged my waist and I gave her a light hug.

"So you technically work with Maddy?"

I nodded and she took a seat next to me.

"She makes the whole team look good" I told her.

She looked up at Maddy and smiled at me.

"Want to hear a funny story?"

Maddy looked at her.

"No he doesn't"

Angela frowned.
