Twenty Four

Katalina's POV- July 2016

"Ready to go?"

"Almost, give me a second" I said as I picked up the last juice pouches from the table.

I tossed them in the garbage bag he was holding.

"That is?"

"I think so" I told him.

"Knock, knock?"

David almost dropped the bag he was holding as he looked at Oliver who was standing at the doorway. David looked at me and I turned to look at Oliver.

"Hey Kates"

"Hi Oli" I said smiling at him.

I made my way over to him and he gave me a tight hug. I turned to look at David who had composed himself and was making his way over.

"You look great man, it's nice to see you"

Oliver smiled and accepted the man hug David was offering.

"I can't say the same for you, did you get punched in the face?"

David laughed as he pulled away.

"It's a story for another time"

Oliver nodded slowly and stuffed his hands into his pockets.

"Congrats on graduating, coach told me that both you and Mike finished your undergrad in May. Are you taking time off?"

He looked at David who nodded.

"Yeah, both of us are actually not taking any time off. I actually got accepted to the Master's Engineering program at UC Santa Cruz so I'll be there for the next 2-3 years. Mike is headed to Ohio State for his Master's program in like 2 weeks actually"

Oliver raised an eyebrow as we made our way down the hall.

"Didn't Mike get drafted?"

David grabbed the trashbag and signaled us to follow him out.

"You don't know?" I asked.

"Know what?"

"Mike got drafted but he never played in the Major League" I said.

"What happened?"

David let out a sigh and turned to look at Oliver.

"Long story short he got hit in the head with a fast ball and almost died"

I opened the door to the back and David tossed the trash into the bin.

"Damn that sucks. What did he study? I know you did a form of Engineering"

David nodded and looked at me as we made our way back inside.

"He did Business Administration and Cognitive Science" I said.

Oliver hummed and nodded.

"What are you majoring in Kates?"

"Biochemistry" I said.

"Doing any minors?"

"Yeah" I told him.

"Nice"

"What are you majoring in?" I asked.

I looked at David.

"He transferred to Cal Poly Pomona" I informed him.

"Nice man"
