I took a seat next to Corey as my parents sat down. I squeezed Corey's thigh as my mom complimented his mom's blouse. Both our dad's were already in a conversation.
"What's good here?" I asked Corey.
He shrugged and I laughed.
"You look beautiful Katalina"
I turned to Jody, Corey's mom and smiled.
"Thank you" I said.
She nodded and glanced at Corey.
"Corey tells me you're in college?"
I nodded.
"Yes, I go to UC San Diego" I told her.
She nodded.
"What are you studying?"
"BioChemistry" I said taking a sip of my water.
Jeff turned to look at me.
"Corey tells us you're graduating a year early. Your parents must be really proud of you"
Dad smiled and nodded.
"Incredibly proud"
Mom turned to me and squeezed my shoulder.
"It's nice to know Alek and I raised a young lady who is academically driven. I don't think we have ever had a problem with Katalina"
Corey's parents smiled.
"What do you plan on doing with what you're studying?"
"I'm going to apply to some dentistry programs in the next couple of months" I told them.
Jeff hummed.
"You are sort of a genius then"
I laughed and shook my head.
"She's modest"
Dad looked at Corey and smiled.
"Speaking of modesty, how did the All Star Game go?"
Corey nodded and they began talking. Jeff was able to pitch to his son for the homerun derby. Mom and Jody began talking about their children. We ordered our food and mom turned to Jody once the waitress was gone. They were talking about their children.
"My oldest is 28 and a pharmacist, and my middle child is 26 and an Architectural Engineer"
Jody nodded and smiled.
"Oh wow, you have hard working and dedicated children"
Mom smiled.
"As are yours, Corey mentioned both his older brothers play baseball"
Jody nodded and looked at me.
"Did you play a sport?"
I nodded.
"I play soccer, and on ocassion I dance"I said.
Mom smiled and nodded.
"Katalina and her partner were 3 time national junior champions"
Corey looked at me.
"Mike?"
I nodded and smiled as he squeezed my hand. Dinner went by smoothly and at the end of the night, my parents invited his parents for breakfast tomorrow.
"It is no trouble, both Alek and I do not have work tomorrow"
Dad nodded as mom took a sip of her wine.
"Elisa makes a really nice breakfast, Corey can vouche"
Corey nodded and I smiled.
"She does"
I smiled when his parents agreed to breakfast tomorrow.
