I danced around the ballroom. This dance was a show for the gents, their female partners twirling. After, the dance resumed. I went into the arms of a Frenchman. I was one of the few of my siblings to know French.

"Alors, monsieur Lafayette, pourquoi êtes-vous ici dans les colonies?" (So, Mister Lafayette, what are you doing in the colonies?) I asked, my French near perfect. He gave me the same impressed look whenever I spoke to him.

"Je suis ici pour aider à lutter contre les Anglais." (I am here to fight against the English.) He said with great pride.

The song ended and he kissed both of my cheeks, which I assumed was a French custom. It made me smile. "Bonne nuit Mademoiselle." (Goodnight Miss) He said with a sly smile. The French! "Bonne nuit Monsieur." (Goodnight sir) I said in return. He left me to go talk with Mr.Hamilton and a blonde man.

The ball came to a close near midnight. I quickly found my elder sisters, not wanting to walk home in the dark.

"Y/N!" I heard from my left. I turned to find all three sisters walking quickly towards me. "We should get going." Elizabeth said. We all agreed and started walking home.

"That was wonderful!" Margarita said as she did a quick spin. We giggled as we walked through the door. The brisk air made me shiver a bit.

"And that Alexander Hamilton is quite the gentleman!" Elizabeth said, fanning herself with her hand. I saw a series of strange emotions flicker in Angelica's eyes. "I danced with a Frenchman fighting in the revolution! Maybe father knows him!" I said. They all stared at me.

"I know I know, don't tell father." I said safely. They exhaled and we turned a corner. We all talked about our night and giggled as we walked home.

"Shush now." Margarita whispered as we approached our front door. If father knew we were gone, we would be in so much trouble!

Angelica turned the handle and peeked in. "Come on." She whispered. We all got into a line, Angelica, Elizabeth, Margarita, and me, and filed in, careful not to let our gowns make any noise.

We all made it and quickly rushed to our bedrooms. We all had our own, since the house was so large. I quickly stripped into my nightgown before getting snug into my bed.
Within minutes, I was sound asleep.

                                        * *

"Y/N, get up! Father is calling for you." I heard. I woke up and looked to my door. Phillip Jeremiah, my little brother who was also called Jeremiah, was standing in my doorway.

"Okay Jeremiah, I'll be out." I said in dismissal. He nodded and left, shutting the door.

Father needed me? Did he know about the ball? Am I in trouble? These thoughts raged through my mind as I dressed in a simple red gown. I quickly ran downstairs to find my father waiting in the living area, Elizabeth holding a letter.

"Your sister Elizabeth received a letter from a young man I have yet to know the name of." He said. "Do you know Alexander Hamilton?" He asked. I glanced at my sister, who was practically melting as she read the letter, and saw her giving me pleading eyes.

"Yes, father. I have heard of this young man, Mr.Hamilton." I said, head dipped. I could see Elizabeth relax at my words.

Father faced her. "I'd like to meet this man." He said before leaving the room. Instantly, all nine of us were looking over the letter.

"What does it say?" Cornelia begged. Elizabeth giggled and read the letter aloud;

"My Dear Elizabeth,
I have thought of no other person since our encounter." She smiled to herself.

"I have been so clouded by the dances we shared, I can do nothing but ask for more."

I feel bad for this, but I just left the room mentally. I almost zoned out. He went on for three whole paragraphs about how lovesick he is for Elizabeth. I want a man like that.

We all cheered quietly. We dispersed and I found Angelica leaving the house. I tiptoed after my eldest sister and followed her to the courtyard.

"Oh Alexander. Why do you do this? Writing letters to both Elizabeth and I?" She asked herself. What? Alexander was writing her as well?

"You seem so obsessed with my younger sister, yet you use the same language with me." She murmured. No way! Angelica can't keep Elizabeth away from him! Elizabeth will crumble!

"But I know my sister. I can't feel like this. She is so gentle, she deserves a good man like you." She said, countering her own statement. I heard her sigh. Oh Angelica! No wonder you seemed so upset last night!

I hid as my elder sister went back inside, following after some time. The maids bustled around to clean as I walked to the piano. Father had me learn before I was ten years.

I struck a key and smiled. I love the piano! I laid my hands on the keys and let my fingers dance around the keys, playing a sweet melody.

"Y/N!" You heard Margarita almost shout. You stopped playing and faced her. "You have a letter." She said, extending a sealed envelope with elegant writing on it.

You gave her a skeptical look before opening it. You looked at who it was from. C/N!? (Crush Name) You looked at the letter eagerly.

You've heard and spoken to C/N sometimes, mostly at his shop that he inherited from his father.

You scanned the letter. He saw you at the ball! He wanted to dance with you, but never got the chance!! Your heart melted. His final sentence made you grab Margarita's arm to keep from falling over.

Would you care to bless me with your presence at my shop tomorrow afternoon?

"What? Who's it from? What did they say?!" Margarita asked quickly, trying to read the letter. "It's from C/N. He wants to meet tomorrow afternoon." You said distantly.

"Isn't that the gentleman you speak of occasionally?" Angelica pipped in randomly. I blushed and nodded. "Well you must go!" She urged. I smiled gently and nodded again. I couldn't wait!
