(Rose POV)
The street of Gotham
"Is she--?", John asked uncle James staring at me in disbelief. John was watching me closely since the moment I came as I was humming a catching melody. I was pretty sure it drow John insane.
"Yes, she's singing. She has been like this all day", uncle James explained to John as I was listening their conversation from afar. Batman was standing near me, keeping me company as much as it could be expected from him. Somehow I got used to him, I even started to consider him a friend. I've been seeing Batman often lately since he was working with uncle James and John. Uncle James was never at home so I often stopped by the police station to see him and to help him with some cases, mostly with the paperwork. The only reason he allowed it was because I'm his niece and he couldn't say no to me. We four were like one big happy family.
"Never seen someone this much happy", John stated to uncle James. He was talking about me.
"She deserves to be happy. Especially after all she has been through", uncle James replied to John looking at me closely from the distance. I could feel his gaze upon me.
"Rose", I hear uncle James calling me by my name. I immediately turned to him.
"Yes, uncle James?", I asked him, waiting.
"I can't believe I'm going to say this. You have my support. Bruce and you-- He's good for you", I felt the sincerity of his words. Being with Bruce changed me. My heart didn't hurt as much as before. He filled the hole in my chest with his love. And I could sleep peacefully at nights. I agreed with James.
"Thank you", I mumbled fighting tears of joy in my eyes. I was in love with Bruce. I believe he was too.
"Is that--?", I heard a sound and decided to follow it. It sounded like some animal was in trouble and asking for help.
"Rose, what are you doing? Be careful!", uncle James exclaimed. I felt the worry in his voice. I was perfectly safe. I was surrounded by three of the four bravest men in Gotham. Nothing bad couldn't happen to me.
"I'm fine. Look", I came back holding a kitten in my hand. "It's a girl!", I exclaimed. I found her buried in trash. She was dirty but I didn't care. I took her in my arms and petted her white fur.
"Where did you find her?", John asked.
"That one is yours", uncle James spoke to me. I knew what he meant. The color of her fur was in my favorite color.
"She was just over there", I turned and showed John the spot.
"What are you going to do with her?", John asked.
"I'm going to keep her. First, I'm going to feed her, bath her and I will give her a lot of love. She will be the happiest kitty in the whole world", I replied.
"What will you call her?", John asked.
"I will call her: Angel", I spoke excited.
I couldn't help but to look at Batman. He was so quite all evening. He wasn't present with his thoughts but I was sure he listened. I decided not to disturb him. I was surprised he decided to stay and listen this type of conversation. I couldn't help but notice he has been doing that lately. He stayed when his presence wasn't required.
"When it's the wedding?", John asked me out of the blue. Uncle James almost looked like he's going to have a heart attack. I didn't understand.
"Whose wedding?", I asked confused.
"Yours", John explained, I was stunned.
"Where did you get that idea? I have no intention of getting married in the next 20 years", I frowned at John. He turned and left not saying a word. I was confused by his behavior. I didn't understand a thing.
"Don't mind him. He's just jelous", Uncle James explained. I didn't know John has feelings for me. He never once showed them. I felt guilty. What if I accidentally said something to him?
"I didn't... I never... I mean", I babbled.
"It's not your fault. He'll get over it", uncle James said as he turned to Batman to talk. Uncle James called me this evening to meet him. He wants to talk with me about something. He sounded serious over the phone. It said it can't wait till tomorrow. I came as fast as I could to the location he gave me. At first, I thought I came to a wrong place but then I saw a police car in front and heard familiar voices coming from inside of the deserted building and I chose to follow them. I came earlier, they were still working on some case, I didn't ask. They didn't mind my presence. Uncle James said he'll finish with work soon and to stay and wait for him. I agreed.
[Alfred POV]
The Wayne Manor
Master Bruce went to take a shower as soon as he arrived. I noticed a change in his behavior lately so I decided to wait for him in his room. He was humming a melody I didn't recognize when he got out of the bathroom. He looked very content.
"May I ask you what is the reason for your sudden happiness?", I asked.
"Does that have anything to do with Miss Rose?", I added.
I cheered for them since they've met. They were attracted to each other instantly. I noticed the conection between them two, they "clicked" with each other. I've never seen something like that. Master Bruce waited too long to admit his feelings to her.
"I don't understand", Master Bruce was confused.
"You have been singing since the moment you arrived home", I explained.
"I must have picked it up from Rose", Master Bruce replied.
"Of course you are, sir", I stated.
"I don't under--", I saw a confusion on his face.
"Don't mind me, sir. I'm glad to see you happy", I interrupted Master Bruce.
"I must say you became happy since Miss Rose entered your life", I stated.
No one will ever understand him better than Miss Rose does. They share a similar past. Miss Rose's parents were murdered when she was a child and she was present when it happened. The same thing happened to Master Bruce.
"There is no reward that would make this old man happier than to see the man, which he took care of when he was a child, happy", I added.
"Alfred", Master Bruce was speechless.
"I'll leave you now, sir. You need rest", I stated.
"Promise me one thing before I leave: no matter what happens in the future you won't leave Miss Rose or let her leave you", I added.
"I won't. I promise", Master Bruce promised.
I nodded and closed the door behind me.
