I was wearing my uniform loosely my collar wasn't buttoned up, neither was my tie i just let it hung around my neck. The UA blazer was hung on both my shoulders. I couldn't be bothered to pit it on properly not with these bandages around me. Speaking of bandages, my head was wrapped with bandages that run around my forehead and covered my right eye, down it went wrapping around my neck and around my entire right arm, they even placed it in a sling. I couldn't even move it. "You legit look like you've just got out from the hospital. You know what at least let me make you look better." Ino didn't even wait for me to talk she just went in and arranged my hair. Earlier today she insisted for me to stay at home but i refused. I didn't want to be stuck here alone, Sure being lazy and having nothing to do had it's perks but i just found it restraining. "There all done. You look more presentable now, unlike earlier." "What did i look like? Aside from the hospital thing." "Well you looked like a trouble-making delinquent who just got out of a fight and was forced to go to school." I was earlier than usual because of the unexpected rain. When i got to class i sat on my chair and continued sleeping, using my bag as a pillow.
The sound of talking woke me up. I yawned and stretched my left arm stretched outward. I grabbed a sandwich from my bag and stood up and went to the window looking out. I bit out a small piece since it was hard to swallow the food. Midoriya walked up to me as i was taking a another bite "Hey." he said i waved and sighed pointing at me chewing. "Hard to swallow?" i nodded swallowing my sandwich. "What brought you over here?"
"There's just something wrong with Iida lately. He hasn't been himself since the sports festival."
"What happened?" i asked taking another bite.
"After his match he received a call from the hospital. He said his brother was attacked." i almost choked, Iida loved his brother, idolized him even.
"Poor Iida, he must be bottling it up. I might have an idea on how to help him." Midoriya looked at me with hopeful eyes. "I could do it but not in this state. I've asked too much help from others i want to do this personally."
"What's your plan?"
"I know how to help his brother but i doubt the staff would let anyone in so we need help from someone who can easily get in and out without being questioned."
"Who did you have in mind?" Curiosity filled his eyes.
"Naomasa Tsukauchi. He may be able to help us at that area. If hes not too busy." i said taking a bite.
"That's great!" he cheered. I was about to swallow but it was a big piece. I closed my eyes in pain and coughed, i placed my sandwich on the table and reached for my throat as i continued to cough. A drop fell on top of my bottom lip. Brushing my hand on my lip i felt the wet substance on my thumb. I looked at it only to find out i was blood, my blood. Then i remembered
'You inhaled some of the smoke during the fight. The searing heat of her opponents fire caused her esophagus and her lungs to burn but thanks to the natural mucus we have in our body that damage was prevented from doing any further Internal damage."
I looked at Asuma-sensei and the others, I wanted to talk but stopped due to the sharp pain in my throat.
"It may be best if you try not to talk while you're recovering Miss (y/n). Give it a few days before you can start muttering some words." the doctor looked at them again. "Don't feed her any hard foods like anything fried. Give her something soft, food that can be softened by water is acceptable. For the meantime i recommend sticking to soup for now."
"Your bleeding! Let's get you to recovery Girl." Midoriya panicked i raised a hand at him motioning him to wait. I made my way to my seat and pulled out a whiteboard and a marker that Asuma-sensei bought for me last night. It was embarrassing to always have it with me though i didn't have much choice. "Im fine." i wrote on the board, letting Midoriya read it then i brought it down erasing the note to write something else. "its just an after effect. I'm not supposed to talk." "are you sure." i nodded smiling at him. Sir Aizawa came in and homeroom began.
---LUNCH---
I was putting my book back in my back when a hand slammed on my desk startling me. Looking up upwards to see who the owner was, to my surprise it was Bakugou "Hey did you let Icy Hot win on purpose?" I saw him glare. I bowed my head in fished for the whiteboard and the marker in my bag. "I asked you a question give me an answer damn it!" he said slamming my desk again. I wrote 'no' and gave it to him. He looked down reading it, he then looked at me and squinted at me "I don't believe you." he grabbed me by my collar pulling me up and off my seat "Answer me!" he pulled up upwards to him, i wasn't really on my tiptoes but it was enough that my heels where off the ground. I could only grunt in pain and grab his wrist. The sound of the metal chair suddenly moving, the light plastic board falling on the floor caused my classmates turn their head to us. Worried that we might cause a scene, not that we weren't, i just didn't want it to get worse. I looked at Bakugou, my eye stared into his red ones pleading, my grip tightening but it wasn't like i was tying to hurt him, my jaw tightened hoping he'd get the message. Good thing my right side was facing my classmates otherwise they'd see my expression. I didn't want the news to spread that i let Shoto win on purpose. I needed him to believe in himself. Sometimes you have to lose to win.
"Kacchan! Come on. Let her go. She's still injured." Midoriya came placing a hand on Bakugou's shoulder. "Shut up Deku!" he yelled turning to Izuku pushing him off him. He then looked back at me, as if taking a second look i returned his look. "Man come on, let her go." Kirishima said puling Bakugou away. It took a few tugs before he let go of me. Surprisingly he didn't drop me, Instead he slowly placed me back on the ground then he let go and turned around walking with Kirishima out the classroom. "Hey you okay?" Izuku asked. "Here." i saw my board handed to me looking up it was Kaminari. "Jeez. What happened? What got him So riled up?" i shrugged and gave him an apologetic smile before taking the board from his hand. "Are you sure you're okay?" i nodded and just waved my hand gesturing to brush it off. Midoriya, Kaminari and my other classmates invited me to eat with them but i denied the invitation, writing that i wasn't really hungry which was true. The lack of taste and the painful swallowing discouraged you to eat. Soon later you were left alone in the classroom. Or so you thought.
You grabbed your forgotten sandwich on the table by the window looking at it thinking it was such a waste before throwing it in the trash bin. "Are you not going to eat?" jumping a bit i look behind me, my gaze landing on a pair of heterochromia ones. I let a breath out relaxing a bit. "I apologize for startling you." i smiled then turned writing on the board i had "its fine i just didnt notice you were still here." he looked down and read it "Why aren't you using your voice?" "Doctor says i can't." he urged me to explain why i looked at him and huffed. "Tell me." he said calmly. Sighing in defeat i wrote "My throat and my lungs are burned they're still healing." i paused letting him read then writing again "Talking irritates it and eating hard food makes it bleed." he stood there quiet staring at the board i pulled it down and looked at him moving my head meeting his gaze. "I did that. Im sorry." he looked away that was the first time i saw him go soft. First he was all emotionless then mad so this surprised me. I pulled back my board "No it wasn't." he looked at me confused "Why? Why did you allow yourself to get hit?" i swallowed and licked my lips placing the board on my palm.
"Y-your dad.." i whispered loud enough so he can hear "He wanted you to win and become number one but he had to see that he can't control you. It was cruel to see you become your dad's puppet and you we're blindly playing the part too." i looked at him remembering the pity "I wondered how to make him realize he was wrong. His aims, his actions, beliefs were all wrong, then there you were, no one else can get through him but you, Shoto." i looked at him guiltily "I didn't mean to pry, i understand it was personal considering he's you family and all." he didn't reply. "i'm sorry." i whispered again. "It's okay Katsuya told me. Your talk with my old man. I just needed to hear your part." i blinked and hoped Katsuya didn't tell him about the marriage thing that his dad said. "Including his thoughts on us." i blushed and choked on my own saliva making me cough. "hey are you okay?" he places a hand on my back patting helping my cough calm down. He let out a small smile and huffed amused "knowing my dad of course he'd think that." He stopped back seeing as i stopped coughing. he looked towards the floor meekly "Let me treat you with lunch as a thank you." i waved my head and hands side to side trying tell him no. He looked at me and gave the slightest smile "and as my first friend." now how was i going to deny that?! I dropped my arms and looked at him defeatedly. "Come on. If we hurry we can still catch up before the food runs out." he said grabbing my hand and tugged me to the hallways.
Upon reaching the cafeteria we looked at the menu, he looked at me "Something soft to consume right?" i nodded, he turned back and began to order soon enough he was carrying two trays of food and we walked to an empty table. I sat on one side, he placed the tray on the table and he sat across from me. I looked at the tray there was some sort of cream soup, fish fillet with a bit of corn at the side then from what it looked like was chicken rice soup. I then looked over to his and noticed we had the same items. I looked at him confused, i tilted my head and pointed at the food. "i thought it was only fair for us to eat the same thing. I didn't want you to feel left out by me eating something you like and i didn't know about it." i nodded and smiled a thank you at him. I picked up the bowl of soup and held it up to him something like a cheers of sort. He picked up his bowl and followed my actions. Giggling at his actions i brought it to my lips and drank the warm liquid soothing my throat he did too. I found his actions cute honestly. "This is my first time eating with a friend. Im glad i had this with you." he looked at his food and smiled "would you let me eat with you some other time too?" he looked up hopeful giggling again ia nodded and smiled "of course." i whispered. We both shared a smile then began digging in.
We talked about random stuff more like he asked and i nodded whether or not it was a yes or no. Little did we know there where eyes fixated on us.
-----NO ONE'S POV-----
"Hey isn't that Todoroki?" Sero asked the group. Looking over to were Sero was pointing they were shocked. "That's weird. Iv'e never seen Todoroki eat in the canteen before." Momo said. "That girl with Todoroki. Isn't that (y/n)?" asked. "Wait yeah! It is her." Uraraka said "Oooo. I smell a new ship~." Mina said giggling looking at her (h/c) haired friend with Todoroki. "Well looks like Todoroki ate his own words and made a new friend." Kirishima said. "Should we invite them over?" Hagakure asked. " I think they have stuff to sort out, ribbit." Asui said. Bakugou just hummed in annoyance he didn't know why Kirishima let the other sit in their table instead of making a fuss his eyes landed on a girl, (y/n) unbeknownst to him Sero caught up and addressed it to everyone. 'Why were you eating with him?' 'Why were even with him? How and when did the two of you get so close?!' where some of the thoughts that invaded the boy's mind. A pit of anger and jealousy grew in him but like hell he would admit it. He's rather shut up and focus on something else to keep his mind off of it. He'd be lying if he wasn't affected by it worst part for him? He didn't feel bad about it. He didn't feel bad about being jealous, about this new feeling he has or him just wanting to hold her and whisper sweet nothings into her ear. He looked away and rose from his seat walking away. "Hey! where are you going?" Mina asked "None of your damn business, you damn extra." Bakugou stated.
Kirishima was well aware of his friend's feelings whether he chose to say it or not. Kirishima chose to hide his feelings for (y/n) because he didn't know how his friend would react. He didn't want his friendship with Bakugou to crumble cuz of that. He knew if there was someone who can make her happy whilst being a manly boyfriend who'd show her how much he loved her everyday, it was him. No they haven't talked much but they were close enough to be considered friends and for Kirishima, that was a start. He always like how goofy you were without even trying. Like that one time he caught you placing a pencil on your lips making it balance while you where fixated on reading the textbook or how your unknowingly twirl your hair from the back. He knew he had to step up his game if he ever wanted you to return his feelings.
-----URARAKA'S POV-----
After lunch i looked over to (y/n)'s direction and noticed that she's still eating i leaned over to Izuku and whispered "Hey Izuku. Do you think it's the right time to give it to her?" Izuku looked at Uraraka and (y/n). "You're right. Might as well as sneak it in while she's busy." we nodded looking at each other he turned to his food and finished it then stood up. "We'll be going now." He said to the group and we both left before anyone else could stop us.
In the room we peeked in good thing no one was there. We made our way to (y/n)'s bag and unopened it placing the box in. The box was white with a letter in front tied with a small pastel pink ribbon. "Hopefully she'll like it." He said closing her bag "I just wish Iida was here to see the present off." i said feeling sad. "It'll be fine. Im sure he would want us to give it to her." "Still he did contribute for this gift." i looked at the door as if imagining Iida would pop up.
