At police headquarters. Mako looks sadly at a picture of him and Korra as Asami and Violet enters.
Asami looks worried "Is it true?"
"I'm so sorry. Your entire shipment was stolen." Mako stands up and walks toward them
"Without that sale, I don't know how much longer I can keep my company going. What am I gonna do?" Asami covers her face
"We'll find who's responsible Asami" Violet puts her hand on her shoulder comfortingly
"Chief Beifong is about to question the captain of the ship" Mako pushes the button of the intercom.
Lin: I know it's been a long day, but walk me through what happened.
Captain: We were ambushed about thirty klicks outside the harbor. We never heard them coming.
Lin: This is the third attack this week at about the same location.
Lu: Yep, and smack-dab in Republic City's jurisdiction, which means another problem for us.
Gang: It's gotta be Northern Water Tribe. They're trying to stop supply lines to the South.
Lin: I agree. Is there anything else about the attack you remember? Anything unusual?
Captain: There is one thing. The bombs exploded in a way I've never seen before. They didn't have fuses. It was like they were being detonated remotely.
Mako looks at Violet "Like the bombs at the cultural center, come on Vi" he walks away with Violet looking confused but following him.
"Wait, where are you guys going?" Asami asks
"I gotta grab some evidence" Mako exits the room with Violet as Varrick enters.
The two approach Lin
"Chief, I think there's a link between this attack and the attack at the cultural center" Mako tells her
"What do you think you're doing?" Lin asks
"Solving this case" Mako pulls out a remote and shows the captain "Did any of the people who attacked you have one of these in their hand? I think it's a remote detonator."
"It was too dark to see anything." The captain replies
"Mako!" Lin looks annoyed
"Chief, I don't think the people who attacked were Northern Water Tribe." Mako tells her
"Of course they were Northern Water Tribe. They were waterbending." Gang, a police officer tells him
Violet took out a picture " Was this one of the guys who attacked?"
"No, I don't recognize him" the captain replies.
Mako and Violet look at each other.
Gang laughs "Oh, that's embarrassing"
"Mako, Guardian" Lin points out "now'
Varrick enters the room with Asami "Great work, everybody. Another open and shut case for the dynamic mustachioed duo!"
" Wait, I think Mako might be onto something" Asami chimes in
"Chief, I know it's a long shot, but I have an idea how we can catch these guys." Mako says
"Yeah, let's all listen to the rookie." Lu agrees sarcastically
"He's doing a better job than you!" Violet snaps at him
"Easy Vi" Mako puts his hands on her shoulders
Lin snaps "Enough! I don't want to hear your lame-brained rookie ideas. You're a beat cop, not a detective. Now hit the street and do your job!"
Lu and Gang laugh, while Lu styles his hair like Mako. Mako angrily storms out and Violet runs after him.
"Lu and Gang are idiots. I hate them and their stupid mustaches." Mako tells her annoyed
"Well what was your idea?" Violet asks him "you know to catch these guys"
Mako turns to her "A sting operation. I was thinking we'd set up a bait ship, take it out into the open ocean, and capture whoever attacks it"
"Ok let's do it then" Violet smiles
"It's not that easy" Mako sighs "For the plan to work, we need the police, and Beifong already said no."
"We can do it ourselves, half of team Avatar is a force to be reckoned with" Violet encourages "besides I'm the Guardian, I'm like the equivalent of my big sister."
"I don't know. I don't want to go behind Beifong's back. If she finds out, I could get kicked off the force." Mako tells her sadly
Asami approaches the two "Do it Mako, I need your help. My Mom is gone. My Dad is in jail. Future Industries is all I have left of my family."
"Exactly" Violet agrees "this is important"
"I want to help you, but this is more than a two-person job." Mako says
"Well I can come with you and Violet's plenty of man power" Asami tells him "she'll do more then the police ever could"
"Well.. first of all, we'd need a ship" Mako says
Violet, Mako, and Asami turn to find Varrick beside them and they recoil in shock.
"You need a ship? I got a ship. I want in on whatever you're talking about. I love being in on plans." Varrick says excitedly
"The less you know, the better" Asami tells him
"Perfect! I love not knowing things. Varrick agrees
"All right, I'm in. Let's get these guys" Mako smiles
Later that night at the harbor outside Future Industries. An empty cargo is closed, while two mecha tanks lift the cargo on board. Violet, Asami, and Mako look on from the warehouse, which is filled with mecha tanks and biplanes.
"The ship's all loaded with the dummy crates. Let's get this sting operation going" Asami says
"Not yet. We need some extra manpower" Mako tells the girls
"Uh I thought that's what I was here for?" Violet raises her eyebrow
"I think one more couldn't hurt, we don't know how many their are and we are not bringing your bear sized dragon onboard" Mako argues
"...fair point" Violet crosses her arms.
"What about Korra?" Asami questions and Mako looks on uneasily "No better muscle than the Avatar and the Guardian."
"Right, uh ... Korra. Yeah, actually, she's um ... she's out of town right now." Mako says uneasy
"Everything okay with you two?" Asami questions
"Yeah, yeah. Forget about Korra. I'll go talk to Bolin" Mako runs off.
"Yeah so they broke up" Violet tells Asami
"Oh.. I didn't know" Asami looks up awkwardly
"Yeah, Korra told me before she left" Violet rubs her neck "she went to do something to help with the war or something, I wasn't paying attention."
"I see" Asami nods before looking at Violet "So.. are you going to try to you know.. get closer to Mako"
"Huh?" Violet blushes
"I mean, they broke up and you've liked him since forever" Asami explains with a smile
"W-was I that obvious" Violet freaks
"Well I could tell, but you've never acted on it" Asami puts her hand on Violet's shoulder "Listen, even if it seems like it might hurt Korra, you're hurting yourself by not at least telling him. You always let things you really want slip by because you don't want to upset anyone, you've gotta fight for what you want."
"But.. you also like him still" Violet looks down "Between you and my sister Mako has a chance to be with an amazing women, compared to a child like me who doesn't come close."
"Hey don't look down on yourself Vi, you're amazing" Asami smiles "Don't worry about us, its Mako's choice of course who he wants to be with as well, but don't count yourself out."
"Thanks Asami" Violet smiles
The three stood outside the Triple Threat Triad headquarters.
"Tell me again why we're here?" Violet looks at Mako
"Bolin wouldn't do it so this is our last resort" Mako responds before knocking on the door.
The triple Threat doorman slides open faceplate "Hey, Mako. Whatever you think we did, we didn't do it."
"I'm not here on police business. I'm running an off-the-books operation, and I thought the Triple Threats might want a piece of the action." Mako tells him
The Triple Threat doorman looks intrigued " How big a piece?"
Violet, Mako, and Asami are now inside the headquarters, seated opposite Viper.
"So Mr. Law and Order needs our help, huh? What's in it for the Triple Threats?" Viper asks
Mako thinks "Uh well-"
"I can give Shady Shin his bending back" Violet offers
"Sounds good to me, boss" Shady Shin agrees and Viper glares at him.
"What about the rest of us?" Viper asks
"I've got vehicles, all brand-new and top of the line. They can be yours if you help." Asami tells him
Viper smirks "I think we got ourselves a deal"
Later that night everyone was aboard the bait ship in the open sea.
"This is right around the area where the attacks happened. So keep your eyes peeled, and stay quiet." Mako tells the Triads
Two Toed Ping nods " I agree. Keep quiet. Mouth zipped, don't say a word. That's the best thing to do when you're trying to ambush somebody, which is what we're doing here, and it's basically what I'm always doing. I mean, I am a gangster, after all, and -"
"Two Toed Ping, please." Mako cuts him off
"Oh, right. So, what's it like dating the Avatar" Ping asks, Mako sighs in annoyance, turning his head "Come on, Mako, I gotta know."
"Ping, stay focused!" Mako snaps
"Mako" Violet puts her hand on his shoulder
"What? What are you so weird about it? If I was dating the Avatar, I'd tell you all about it." Ping says
"There's nothing to know.. I broke up with her" Mako tells them
Two Toed Ping starts laughing "Yeah, right. You broke up with the Avatar. Like that happened" he turns to the others "Hey, Shady Shin, Viper. Mako says he broke up with the Avatar."
"Sure he did." Shin replies
"Yeah, I did too" Viper jokes and the Triple Threats burst out laughing.
"All right, would you guys knock it off and do your job?" Mako walks away.
"Mako" Violet runs after him "Hey calm down, you know they're only trying to get under your skin"
"I know.. but my personal life isn't any of their business" Mako looks annoyed "They should try dating that high maintenance- sorry"
"It's ok" Violet smiles "it's good to let it out sometimes right"
Mako smiles back to her thankful and the two walk around the ship. He suddently takes her hand and pulls her back making her a sign to be quiet.
"So how long do we have to stay out here?" They hear Shin ask
"I told you, it's gonna be a few hours. What, do you have a hot date?" Viper questions
"Actually, I do. And I wanna look my best. I gotta shower and shave. I have a whole routine, okay?" Shin replies
"Well, your date's gonna have to wait." Viper says
"She's not gonna be happy about that." Shin replies
"Too bad. We were paid to keep Mako and the girls distracted for a few hours, so that's what we're gonna do" Viper tells him and Mako's eyes widen.
Mako and Violet run back to Asami who was watching Two Toed Ping stroking his toe, when Mako gestures her to come to them.
"What's up?" Asami asks
"We've been double-crossed" Violet tells her
"We have to get off this ship." Mako adds
They run off, only to be cornered by Viper.
"Where do you think you're going?" Viper questions
Mako knocks the gangsters off with firebending before running off. They board a speedboat.
"Get'm!"
Mako burns off the ropes, causing them to plunge to the sea. The gangsters pursue them with two speedboats. Mako attacks the speedboats with firebending, but misses. Asami makes a sharp turn, causing Mako to nearly lose his balance, but Violet grabs him. Viper jumps off his speedboat and waterbends ice spikes, but Asami manages to dodge them. He waterbends a geyser, throwing the trio's speedboat into the air.
Violet bends the water down so they land safely with everyone still in the boat. The chase brought them back to mainland Republic City.
"They're getting closer" Mako says
"I can stop them" Violet stands up
Mako thinks back to her destroying the Northerners warships and pulls her back down "please don't"
Asami drives between two boats and makes a swift turn. One of the triad's speedboat fails to execute the same turn and capsize. Viper's speedboat cuts through in front of them. Asami swerves off and the engine stalls.
Vipers speed boat approaches. Mako attempts to firebend at them, but the speedboat crashes, throwing him back while the speedboat is being pushed back. Viper leaps to Mako's speedboat and throws a water pulse at him, but Mako manages to dodge. He prepares another attack, but is stopped by Mako. Mako does a fire kick, which Viper manages to neutralize.
Mako throws another two fire blasts, which Viper manages to dodge one and neutralize another. Mako misses his attack and is pushed back to the passenger seat by Viper's waterbending attack. Asami manages to restart the engine.
"Mako, hang onto something" Asami says
Mako grabs onto Violet and Asami swerves violently, throwing the gangsters' speedboat off the water.
"What was that all about?" Asami asks
Mako sits back down "Someone paid the Triple Threats to keep us distracted."
"Distracted? From what?" Asami loons comfused before her eyes widen "Oh no."
The group stood in front of the warehouse of Future Industries. Asami powers up the warehouse, illuminating an empty warehouse.
"Whoever paid the Triple Threats stole everything" Mako says angrily.
Asami began to cry "I'm ruined. My company.. it's over"
"We should check out your other warehouses. Maybe they didn't have time to hit them all." Mako suggests
"You don't understand. Everything I had was in here" Asami wipes her eyes
"I'll go beat the answer out of the triads" Violet turns around
Mako grabs her "Calm down Vi, we have to search the place for evidence. If we can find a lead-"
"Mako... it doesn't matter anymore." Asami says
"I can figure this out" Mako tells her
"Just stop. It's over. I give up." Asami walks away.
"The triad's gotta know something" Violet pulls her arm away from Mako "They're gonna pay"
"You can't go berserk Violet, you're the Guardian" Mako grabs her hand, he was afraid to let her go.
"Let go Mako" Violet glares at him, her eyes were red.
"I can't let you go" Mako pulls her to him and they accidently kiss
Violet blushes and covers her face. Mako noticed her eyes were purple again.
"S-Sorry, I didn't mean to pull you that hard" Mako says blushing as well.
"Uh.. It's-it's okay. Um... Anyway.. we gotta find out who did this" Violet tells him.
"Right, let's meet up in the morning though" Mako says still trying to hide the fact he was still blushing.
In the morning the two were in the streets where Mako slams Two Toed Ping against a wall.
"Hey, Mako. Uh, you're not mad about last night, are you?" Ping asks nervously
"Who hired you to double-cross us?" Mako demanded
"I- I don't know" Ping replied terrified
"I suggest you tell us Ping, Mako's not such a nice guy to let you go twice you know" Violet smiles
"Really, I don't know. You have to believe me. We never met the guy who hired us." Ping explains fearful.
"You expect me to believe that?" Mako chuckles
"A-After you left the hideout, some mook showed up and said his boss would pay us to keep you distracted. We'd never seen him before, and we ain't seen him since. Come on, Mako, you know how these deals work. Please, I would never lie to you with my lucky toes on the line." Ping squeaks out
Mako throws Ping off, slamming him to
a wall "Get out of here."
Ping runs off in fear.
"That was pretty hot not gonna lie" Violet mutters
"W-what!?" Mako blushes looking at her
"Ah! I said that outloud" Violet covers her face embarrassed "Ignore me ignore me"
"L-lets go" Mako turns around and heads off Violet following.
Bolin sat in his Nuktuk attire eating some popcorn on set. He is approached by Mako and Violet.
"Bolin, have you seen Varrick around?" Mako asks with no response "Bolin!" Again no response, Mako sighs in annoyance "Nuktuk"
Bolin looks at him "Yes? Oh, hello, Mako. Didn't notice you there"
Violet giggles.
"Where's Varrick?" Bolin asks "I need to ask him something."
"Hmm. Can't say that I've seen him. But I've been kinda busy, you know, rehearsing for my big scene. There's gonna be some crazy" Bolin makes air quotes "pyrotechnics, that's mover speak for explosions."
"We need Nuktuk on set. Running explosion scene."
"Or sometimes we just call them explosions" Bolin explains "Anyway, wish I could stand around here and chitchat, but you know, I gotta go shoot my big scene."
"Okay, the set is clear. Camera's rolling. And... action!"
"Ginger, stay down! I'm coming for you"
Mako watches his brother film his set. Nuktuk runs off, with explosions trailing behind him. Mako looks at the explosions closely.
"Wow, Ginger's really pretty" Violet comments.
"By movie standards I guess" Mako replies "I think you're more beautiful then her"
"Really?" Violet asks blushing
"Uh- I mean- yes" Mako covers his face "nevermind" he walks away.
"Are you and Mako finally a thing?"
"Ah!" Violet turns to see Bolin smirking at her "What? No"
"Im not sure how the whole Guardian cycle works but it seems you and Kira both have a thing for firebenders" Bolin snickers before walking away.
Violet sat in her house with her face bright red. Echo jumped and played with a ball around her .
"T-their's no way Mako could like me, he and Korra just broke up, I would be a terrible sister if I got with my sister's ex boyfriend" Violet ranted to her dragon "I mean what are the odds that the guy I like you know likes me back.. but I mean I have liked him for a long time.."
"No no no.. but he is really cute" Violet blushes more and put her hands over her face "Nooooo Echo what's wrong with me, how could I do this?" Echo squeaks and licks her before Violet lays back on the couch "but.. I do really like him.. Mako.."
