Carols POV
The mission was a bust. More than a bust. Nothing was accomplished and we lost any lead we had. We were back to square one. Everyone was pretty quiet getting back on the jet. Unsure of what happened, what to do now, or what to do next.
I was kind of happy though. It meant I got to go back to Spencer that much sooner. I'm sure they won't ask me to stay while they wait for another lead and I'm going to take that leap.
Since no one was talking I opened my phone. I saw a few messages from Spencer, one being another video. I eagerly opened it. I couldn't help but laugh watching another video of her singing, also earning weird looks from the team. But Wanda knew.
She sat down next to me. "Is it another video from her, can I see it?"
I wanted to share so I did. We both laughed, ignoring whatever the team did this time. We talked quietly so they could all soak in their
disappointment.
"Sooo does this mean you're going back to her now?"
"Yes. Once we're back, I'm going to sleep, say goodbye to everyone and head straight for her house." I couldn't help but be excited. This could be a big move.
"Ah I'm so excited for you! You'll have to let me know how it goes!"
"Oh I will. You're in this now."
We both laughed as she said, "I'm glad to be apart of it. I really hope it works out."
"Speaking of things working out, is there anyone in your grasps?"
I think I caught her off guard. "Oh uh no, not really. Not that I don't want something but no one special has come around. I'm still looking for my Spencer." She thinks she's funny, nudges my elbow with hers and wiggling her eyebrows.
I play roll my eyes as I say, "yeah well, you can't have my Spencer."
"Ugh fine. But if she has any siblings.."
"Don't think she does but you'll be the first I tell." I laugh. I can't blame her but still.
We continued to chat for a while longer before we landed back at the base. Exiting the jet and heading for those rooms, I walked with Wanda to hers. She had asked if I wanted to crash with her for the night and I accepted, being very tired and knowing I could talk to her about Spencer.

Spencer's POV
I made it back home crashing on my couch immediately. Although it had gone roughly the way I wanted, it was still good to be home and be done with it.
I couldn't help but let my mind wander to thoughts of this big empty house. It's so big and open and all of a sudden it seems like too much. Something that seemed to hold so many possibilities before, now seems to be just what it actually is; a house. To think I actually pictured a future with Carol here.
But who am I kidding? The avengers are never going to give up looking for the Ghost.
That doesn't mean I couldn't do something reckless, right? Right. So a big party inviting my girl slash friend and her superhero friends? A great idea. One big hoorah before I disappear, giving this house the kind of life it deserves, if even for a night. Perfect.
I quickly sent out a message to Carol;
'Hey babe! Hope your mission is going well. I was hoping you'd be done by Saturday night because I want to throw a party! This house is huge and empty. I want to fill it for a night. And maybe I want to see you. You can invite your little hero buddies. And for those that can't fly themselves, I'll send my jet. Let me know! Xo'
It may have been a little cringey but I honestly didn't care at this point. I'm tired, frustrated with where I am right now and knowing there isn't much I could do about it. But that doesn't mean I'm not holding out a tiny bit of hope. You know what they say about hope.
And with those lovely thoughts swirling around in my head, I let myself fall asleep, right there on the couch.

Carols POV
I woke up with a heavy weight on my chest and I knew it was Wanda. She's always been a cuddler. I sneak my way out of her grasp, grabbing my phone. I can't help the smile that finds its way across my face once I see that she's messaged me.
I was even more excited by the message she sent. Finally I could introduce my friends to my.. whatever she is.
Actually this is perfect, I could go to her today as a surprise and we could spend a couple days together before the party.
"Your thoughts are very loud. She's throwing a party?" Wanda mumbles, barely audible with the tiredness she felt very evident.
"Uh, sorry. Yes, she is. Saturday. I'm going to surprise her today and then hopefully you can come to the party. As long as we don't have another lead or mission."
"That sounds like fun, I'll be there." She then promptly falls back asleep. I leave her room, heading to the kitchen. I'll just grab breakfast and let whoever is there know I was leaving.
It was just Nat and Steve. I guess I woke up earlier than I thought. I had meant to look at the time on my phone but obviously got distracted.
"Morning." Short and sweet and I received the same response from both of them. I grab some oatmeal and plop down next to Nat.
"So I'm heading out after breakfast. Kind of seems like I won't be much help right now. I'm going to stay on earth for a little while so just call me if you have any leads."
"Mm you know, I knew there was something different about you at our meeting. There's a person here on earth, isn't there?" Damn Nat and her black widow training.
"Ugh, okay yes. We've met up the last few times I've been to earth and I stayed a few days with her before we went on the mission."
In almost unison Nat and Steve both said, "her?"
I knew this wasn't meant in a bad way, just curious about it all.
"Yeah,we met a long time ago and we kind of hit it off. Of course I was never really on earth so it was always casual. But, I don't know. This time feels different. I'm going to try to see where it goes."
"That's awesome Carol. Sounds like she makes you happy." Steve gives me a smile. We've never been that close but I know he means it.
But before I respond Nat says, "you're lucky you found someone that makes you smile like that." I didn't realize I had been smiling. She continues, "you should definitely go for it. Our lives will always be crazy, but we won't always have someone that makes us feel normal."
"Thanks Nat, I'm going to. I'm sure there's someone out there for you too." She smiles at me but it's a sad one. I feel bad she doesn't have anyone. Not all of us are dating someone but she hasn't had anyone in a long time or one that was really good for her. "You're an amazing person Nat, someone is going to see that and they won't let you go when they do."
Nat does what she does best and deflects, responding with, "they'd have to hold on long enough to notice. But thank you."
She gets up to leave and I remember the party. "Oh, uh she is actually having a party Saturday and invited all of you. So if you don't have a mission you should come. I'm sure she'll have single people for you to mingle with."
She laughs, "I'll try to be there." And with that she left.
I turned to Steve. "You're bringing Bucky, right?" He nearly spits his drink on me.
"You know?!"
"Steve, I don't have to live on earth all the time to notice how you are with eachother. I think it's great. After all of this time and everything you've been through, you finally have each other."
A blush soon covers his cheeks. "Uh, thanks Carol. We're happy. We're good. I hope that she's that for you."
"Thanks Steve, I really hope so too."
After that, I leave, flying away to my future.
