Camila POV
When Shawn and I finished work, we immediately made our way to Nate's and Ami's school so we could be there for Nate's first game of the season. I was happy that Riley said she will come to Nate's game. Nate would be devastated if Riley wouldn't come because he loves her and Ami so much.
,,Ready to go, love?" Shawn asked as he entered my office.
,,Yep! I just don't know where I put my phone after I texted Riley." I said and looked after my phone on my desk.
,,I think you left it in my office. I'll go and look." He said and smiled at me before he left to go in his office.
I continued looking after my phone in my office, but it wasn't there so I gave up.
,,The award of best phone finder and best husband goes to....Shawn Mendes." Shawn said as he entered my office again fluttering my phone around.
I laughed lightly at him and that brought a smirk on his face.
,,Thank you, best husband of the year." I said and walked over to him and kissed him softly before I took my phone away from him.
,,Correction! Best husband of the decade." He said and I giggled lightly while I wrapped my arms around his torso.
,,Best husband of the century." I said smiling at him.
,,I feel flattered." He said and we both started laughing.
,,We should go." I said and rested my cheek on his chest while he played with my hair.
,,I know. Our little prince shouldn't be waiting, eh?" He said and I couldn't help but smile while I shook my head and looked up at him.
,,Of course not. Royalties aren't waiting for anyone." I joked and Shawn chuckled.
,,Then let's go, my queen." He said and I giggled while I took his hand in mine and we made our way to the car.
We got at the school pretty fast and we immediately made our way to the sports hall where the game was going to take place. There were a lot of people because it was the very first game of the season. Nate must be quite nervous.
We immediately spotted Ami and Nate with Ethan and Chase. Ethan was at every Nate's games just like me and Shawn. Ethan loves basketball just like Shawn and when Nate told us he wants to play basketball Ethan and Shawn were sooooo excited.
,,Hey, little man! How are you feeling?" Shawn asked Nate and hugged him lightly.
,,A little bit nervous, but I'm more excited to play. Where is Riley?" Nate asked and Shawn and I looked at each other with a questioning look.
,,She said she will come so don't worry about that." I said to Nate and kissed his cheek as an encouragement.
,,Okay! Dad, are you coming with me at the locker rooms? The couch said he wants one of our parents to be there too." Nate asked and Shawn nodded with a smile on his face.
,,Of course, buddy." Shawn said and patted Nathan's back lightly.
,,We are going to look for some free seats." I said to Shawn before he kissed my cheek and walked away with Nate in the direction of the locker rooms.
,,I saw some free seats earlier. Let's hope they are still free." Ethan said and I nodded.
Ethan and I made our way with Ami and Chase and to our surprise, the seats Ethan was talking about were free.
,,We have a perfect view! We are gonna see Nate perfectly!" Ami said excited and Chase nodded just as excited.
I took my phone out and texted Riley because I was starting to worry a little. Her school ended a while ago so she should have been here, but she isn't.
Princess, where are you? Nate's game is about to start -Camila
,,Still nothing from her?" Ethan asked.
,,Nope. She found out about Nick yesterday and since then she doesn't really want to talk to us." I said and took a deep breath to calm myself down a little bit.
,,How did she find out? I mean Adi told me something yesterday after you two talked, but I still didn't get it. Did Nick just show up at your front door!?" Ethan asked confused.
,,Yep! You got it just right." I said and Ethan took a deep breath too.
,,What an asshole..." Ethan said it more as a mumble.
,,Daddy! Language!" Chase shouted making me and Ethan laugh lightly.
,,Sorry. Please don't tell mommy! I don't wanna get in trouble." Ethan said and I couldn't help but laugh.
,,What's so funny?" Shawn asked as he suddenly joined us.
,,Nothing." Ethan said before I could say anything, but Shawn looked at me waiting for my answer too.
,,Just Ethan being scared of Adi." I said and Shawn chuckled lightly.
,,Thank you Mila for humiliating me." Ethan joked and we all laughed again.
,,Where is Riley?" Shawn asked.
,,I don't know! I just texted her. Should I call her?" I asked.
,,Do that. The game will start any minute now and when Nate will see that Riley isn't here, he won't be able to concentrate." Shawn said and I nodded while I took my phone out to call Riley, but before I could do that, I saw that Mason was calling me and that confused me.
,,Hey, Mason. What's up?" I said as I picked up while Shawn looked a little confused at me.
,,Please don't get mad but...." Mason started, but didn't continue.
,,But what? Is Riley with you? I texted her and she doesn't answer."
,,She is, but.... Okay look. Riley had this crazy plan in the morning about us skipping school and finding Nick. I said okay because I knew that no matter what I say she will go anyways and I didn't want her to go alone."Mason said and I didn't say anything for a while, but then as I realized what he just said, I started freaking out.
,,What!? You two are with Nick!?" I said louder than I wanted to. Shawn and Ethan both looked with wide eyes at me while Ami and Chase were busy talking to each other.
,,Yeah that's the problem! He told Riley some bullshit that I just can't believe. We have been here for hours and Riley doesn't want to go because she believes Nick! Camila, please tell me what to do." Mason said on the phone and I didn't even want to know what kind of lies Nick told Riley.
What a fucking asshole!
,,Go back to Riley and try to convince her to come here for Nate. I'll try to call her."
,,She put her phone on silent after you texted her a few minutes ago." Mason and I groaned.
,,Just try to convince her and send us the address of where you are so we can come after Nate's game and get you two out of there." I said.
,,I'm gonna try my best and I'll sent you the location in a second." Mason said and right then Nate and his team walked in together with the opposite team. Nate immediately started looking around for us and started waving excited as he saw us. We all waved back and blew kisses at him, but his eyes kept searching. He was looking for Riley and she wasn't there even though she promised. I don't blame her, but I blame Nick!
,,Thank you for calling me, Mason." I said on the phone.
,,No problem. I send you the location, but I need to go back and take Riley out of here." Mason said before he hung up.
,,Where the hell is Riley?" Shawn asked.
,,She's with Nick." I said while I put my phone away.
,,And why are we still here then?" Shawn asked and stood up, but I pulled him back on his seat by his hand.
,,Because we need to solve problem after problem. If we go away then Nate will be mad at us and I don't want two of our kids to be mad. One is enough." I said and Shawn took a deep breath before he leaned against the back of his seat.
,,Mommy, where is Riley?" Amara asked me suddenly and she and Chase looked at me with a questioning look.
What was I supposed to tell them? I hate lying and I hated to lie to Riley all this time, but I just thought it was the best decision. I know that it probably wasn't, but I just didn't want to hurt her.
,,She is with her dad." Shawn said before I could say anything and that only confused Ami and Chase.
,,But...daddy is here... I don't understand." Ami said and I stared at Shawn for just throwing an information like that at Ami.
,,Well, honey, you know that we kind of adopted Riley." I said and looked at Nate to see that the trainer was explaining something to the team before the game starts.
,,I know. Nina, your sister, died and you took care of Riley." Ami said and I nodded while I looked at Shawn who was now looking at Nate while he was moving his leg in a way he always does when he is stressed or anxious.
I know he hates the idea of Riley being near Nick and I think this time Nick got a hold on Riley and I'm pretty scared about that too. I can't lose Riley. She's just as much my daughter as Amara is. She is our kid and we raised her from the beginning so if that asshole takes her away from us I'm gonna make sure that he won't experience the next day.
,,Exactly. Nina is dead, but her dad is alive and we didn't tell Riley that because he left her and didn't want to have anything to do with your sister, so we thought that hiding the truth would hurt Riley less." I explained.
,,It didn’t hurt her less?" Ami asked and I shook my head. ,,Is she THAT mad not to come at Nate's game?" Ami asked and looked a little confused at me.
,, I don't know..." I said and Ami looked over at Shawn who kept himself out of the conversation.
,,I don't understand why she is mad." Chase said.
,,I don't get it either. You are not mad at family." Ami said and Chase nodded.
,,It's okay to be mad at each other sometimes, but what matters is that everyone is happy at the end of the day." I explained and saw that Ethan nodded, but Shawn still seemed a little stressed and didn't seem to pay attention at the conversation at all.
When the game started, everyone's attention was on Nate, but at the same time I was waiting for a text message from Mason to see if he could convince Riley with anything. I looked at Shawn and his leg was still bouncing nervously and when I looked up at him he was bitting his lip like I always do.
I placed my hand on his leg and made it stop. I locked my eyes in him and he took in a deep breath. I knew exactly what he was thinking because I was thinking the same.
,,We got this. Okay?" I said and gave him a small smile.
,,We fucked up." He said and leaned against the back of the seat again.
,,We did, but.... we'll make it right again. Please don't be stressed." I said and took one of his hands in between my hands.
,,I'm trying." He said and gave me a smile before he leaned in to pick my lips.
Our attention was then just on Nate who didn't seem to be totally focused on the game. The coach kept yelling at him to concentrate because he was the captain of the team, but Nate's mind seemed to be somewhere else.
,,Nate, concentrate!" Ethan shouted at Nate after he missed a shoot. Nate looked at me and Shawn and he seemed so sad and I had a feeling that it was because Riley didn't show up.
,,You got this." I said with a smile and he gave me a sad smile back before he looked at Shawn.
,,Forget everything else. It's about you. Got it?" Shawn shouted at Nate and Nate nodded and shook his thoughts away before he returned to the game.
After Shawn told him that, Nate started paying more attention to the game and it looked like his team was winning. Nate even scored the last point and everyone started cheering for him like crazy. Shawn, Ethan, Ami, Chase and I were clapping the loudest and we were cheering for him as loud as we could. We then made our way to the locker rooms where Nate and the team were waiting for their families. As Nate saw us, he ran in my arms and gave me a big hug.
,,You were incredible, baby. I'm so proud of you." I said, kissed his forehead and put some strands of hair away from his face.
,,Good job, buddy." Shawn said and Nate went to hug Shawn too. While they hugged, I took a towel out of his bag so he could wipe away his sweat a little bit.
,,Good job at the end, mate." Ethan said and high-fived Nate before Ami went to hug Nate.
,,You smell." Ami said and pulled away from the hug pretty quickly causing me to chuckle lightly.
,,Here." I said and handed Nate the towel.
,,Riley didn't come." Nate said disappointed while he went with the towel through his hair.
,,I know. It wasn't nice of her." I said and Nate handed me the towel back, but I wiped his face once again with it because he was still pretty sweaty and I didn't want him to get sick.
That's such a typical mom thing, isn't it?
,,I'm mad at her." Nate said and I looked at Shawn who looked at me in the exact same moment.
,,Don't be mad at her..." Ami said.
,,I am tho." Nate said and grabbed the towel from me making me stop wiping his sweat off.
,,She'll explain to you why she didn't come. I'm sure she has a reasonable reason." I said trying to calm him down a little seeing that he was starting to get a little aggressive.
,,I don't care about excuses. I am mad. Can we go home?" Nate asked and Shawn and I nodded.
I was expecting Nathan to be mad, but at the same time I knew he and Riley will be okay because they love each other way too much to stay mad. It's like when I get mad at Shawn. I can't stay mad at him more than a day because I don't know. I just can't. We have our fights, but when I look at him, I just can't stay mad.
We said goodbye to Ethan and Chase before we made our way to the car and drove home. I kept calling Riley on the way, but she didn't pick and neither did Mason. Shawn and I decided to go home and see if they are there and if they aren't we'll go to the location that Mason send us. If they're also not there, then that's when we're going to start panicking.
,,I'll take shower." Nate said right when Shawn unlocked the front door.
,,You better. Cause you stink, buddy." Shawn joked and Nate laughed lightly.
,,Hey." Someone said and when I looked up, I saw Nick with Riley standing there.
,,What the hell are you doing in my house!? Get out of here!" Shawn said getting angry immediately as he saw Nick.
,,If he leaves I leave too." Riley said taking me and Shawn by surprise.
,,Where is Mason?" I asked and Riley rolled her eyes while she chuckled.
,,Is that what matters now? Where is Mason? Well I don't know and I don't care!" Riley said not sounding like Riley at all.
Riley would never talk like that about Mason or any of her friends. Whatever Nick told her was for sure some fucked up bullshit.
,,What did you tell her, asshole?" Shawn asked Nick angrily and started walking towards him, but I stopped him and nodded in Ami's and Nate's direction signifying that the kids where watching. Shawn understood what I meant with that and took a step back trying to calm himself down.
,,I told her the truth." Nick said getting angry too.
,,And what the heck is the truth in your eyes?" Shawn asked trying to stay calm, but I knew that he was everything else, but calm.
,,Ami, Nate, could you go upstairs?" I said before anything could go out of hand. Ami and Nate immediately did as said and that probably because they were too disappointed at Riley to argue about anything.
,,You took me away from him!" Riley yelled right after Nate and Ami left.
,,I took you away from him!? He ran away before you were even born!" I said confused by her accusations.
,,You are lying, Camila. Tell her the truth." Nick said and now Shawn wasn't the only angry one.
,,That is the truth, you asshole! You know that! Don't try to tell her any lies because I know a lot of people who know the truth." I said to Nick more like a warning.
,,The truth is that you made everything that was in your power to take Riley away from me after Nina's death. After the woman I loved died, you had the guts to take my child away and make me stay away from her." Nick said and I thought I lost it.
Was he kidding me!? Was he actually kidding me!?
,,On how many drugs are you now to say such a bullshit!?"
,,Mom!" Riley yelled almost like I insulted her.
,,What? Are you surprised? He broke up with your mom because he was addicted to alcohol and drugs and he probably still is. He probably has nothing better to do than to bring me through HELL like he already did once." I said and walked angrily in Nick's direction, but he also walked back keeping the distance between us.
If I could, I would have killed him right there.
,,You are a liar." Nick said staring me dead in the eyes.
,,YOU ARE THE LIAR!" I said freaking out about the bullshit he was saying. ,,I would have never taken Riley away from you. I didn't even want her at the begging, but I had no choice. I had to take care of her because YOU LEFT HER. She was all I had, so I took care of her and gave my best by doing that, but you did NOTHING. You told me on a fucking phone you weren't ready for a child and you were THIRTY! THIRTY! I was TWENTY FOUR! I didn't even have a job! Now stop telling all that bullshit that you know is to 0% true!" I said and raised my voice so high at Nick that I was pretty sure that I won't be able to talk the next day.
,,What did he tell you?" Shawn asked Riley and pulled me away from Nick by my waist and stroke one of my arms trying to calm me down, but I was just staring at Nick full with anger and hate.
,,That you forbid him to contact me." Riley said emotionless.
,,And do you believe him?" Shawn asked.
,,You told me that he was dead! So yeah! I do believe him!" Riley said and I was about to cry from frustration.
I hate not having a situation in control and this conversation is completely out of control.
,,So you believe that I took you away from him like that!? Just like that!?" I asked confused.
,,I don't know what to believe! I don't believe either of you!" Riley yelled at us.
,,Maybe you should talk to Mary." Shawn said calmly.
,,That bitch will only tell you lies, Riley. Come with me and I will tell you everything." Nick said and Riley looked at him.
,,Come with you!? She is our daughter. Did you forget that!?" I snapped at Nick.
,,She is my and Nina's daughter. What will Nina think if she sees that you are basically taking her child away from her." Nick said and I couldn't help but slap him. How dare he talk about Nina after all he did.
,,Don't you ever DARE to talk about my sister after all the things you've done to her!" I said and Nick only smirked.
,,It's hard to face the truth, isn’t it?" He said and I was about to slap him again if Shawn wouldn't have held me back.
,,If you don't get out of my house now, I'm going to call the cobs. Let's see who they believe then." Shawn said, but Nick’s smirk didn't disappear.
,,If I go, then Riley comes with me." Nick said.
,,Riley isn't going anywhere. She is under my surveillance and she isn't going anywhere." I said.
,,Riley, you decide. Who do you wanna stay with?" Nick asked Riley.
,,I've got enough of this bullshit. Riley, you are going upstairs. And you Nick better leave or I'm calling the cobs." Shawn said and pointed at the stairs signifying Riley to go.
,,No... No! I won't go upstairs like Nate or Ami and do what you two say because Nick is my father and you two didn't even feel the need to tell me that. I'm going with my dad home. You can stay with your two kids." Riley said and it was like someone just squeezed my heart in my chest.
I didn't want to believe that those words just came out of her mouth...
,,See ya." Nick said and he and Riley just left letting me and Shawn speechless.

Anyways let's forget the bad stuff 'cause I have something really important to ask y'all.
I was thinking about writing a book about Riley's life after I finish this one. Like I wanna write more about Riley, but this book is a shawmila book so I can't suddenly start to write just about Riley. You know?
Anyways that book won't only be about Riley, but about all the kids. Like Riley, Mason, Stacy, Logan, Nate, Ami, etc. But it will also contain a lot of Shawmila content of course.
Would you guys read it? I really need your honest opinions about this and I would really appreciate if you all would tell me what you think about it😬 So would you guys read it? And PLEASE BE HONEST!
Or should I just continue this book with more of the kids life? Help me out!
