Camila POV
,,Shawn? Shawn! SHAWN!" I said loudly while I was shaking him to wake up.
What was happening!? He was okay just a second ago!
I got out of bed and ran in the corridor to search after a nurse.
,,Someone please help me!" I shouted and Shawn's nurse came followed by Doctor Wilson.
,,What happened?" The nurse asked me while the doctor started checking on Shawn.
,,I- I don't know. He was okay and then a second later he just....wasn't."
,,We need to get him into surgery now." Doctor Wilson said and suddenly everything was moving so fast that I couldn't even process what was happening. I just found myself in the room alone waiting for any news.
I walked out the room and tried to find a nurse and ask what was happening, but there was almost no one there because it was already late.
I suddenly saw Shawn's nurse and I immediately walked to her as fast as I could.
,,Can you tell me what is happening? Please!" I said to her.
,,You shouldn't be here. Go back to the room and lay down." The nurse said to me.
,,Not until you tell me what's wrong." I said stubborn.
,,Apparently your husband has internal bleeding in his stomach like Doctor Wilson suspected. He is in surgery right now. Can you now go to the room because trust me when I tell you that you don't want to give birth at 7 months because of too much stress." The nurse said.
,,Is he gonna get through the surgery?" I asked and the nurse took a deep breath.
,,Doctor Wilson is a good doctor. There are always chances of losing someone in a surgery, but your husband's survival chances are very high, so don't worry and go to bed. Please Mrs Mendes-Cabello... It's for your best." The nurse said and I finally gave in and did as I was told.
I walked back to the room and got in the bed while I was waiting anxious for the doctor to bring Shawn back.
Time passed and I had no news. I was so anxious but tried to stay in bed knowing that it wouldn't be smart to put me and the baby in danger too.
I waited and waited and just when I wanted to get out of bed and see what was happening, the door to the room opened and a few nurses brought Shawn in. Doctor Wilson walked in the room just after them and gave me a smile.
,,He is okay now. There is nothing you need to worry about anymore." Doctor Wilson said and I felt so relieved.
I took Shawn's hand in mine and kissed it. It felt weird not to see him wearing his ring, but I knew it was because they took it off. All of his stuff was in the room, but I couldn't care less. He was fine. He was okay and that's all that mattered.
,,Thank you so much..." I thanked the doctor and felt tears in my eyes when I looked at Shawn.
,,He'll probably wake up in an hour, but I would advise you to go to sleep. He is fine now." The doctor said and I nodded. ,,I'll come tomorrow again and I don't want to have a surprise about you and your baby being in danger, so go to sleep, Mrs Mendes-Cabello."
,,I will. Thank you for everything." I said and then the nurse and the doctor left.
It was just me and Shawn now. I crawled next to him in bed and tried no to touch his broken arm or leg or his stomach because I didn't know where he just got his surgery. I just nuzzled my head in his neck and tried to fall asleep.
I somehow fell asleep and that because this day was probably the most exhausting day I ever had in my life.
In the morning, I woke up and felt how Shawn was playing with my hair. I looked up at him and he was smiling at me, but I saw in his eyes that he looked a little worried.
,,What happened last night? I just remember that my stomach suddenly hurt and then....nothing." He said.
,,Ahm... When you told me your stomach hurt, I looked at it and when I looked back at you.... You had blacked out or I don't really know. Anyways, the doctor said you had an internal bleeding and they brought you into surgery." I simply explained.
,,Oh..." He said followed by a big pause. ,,Mila, I'm sorry..." He said and I was confused for what he was sorry.
,,Why are you sorry?" I asked confused.
,,Because you probably stressed yourself so much about me and I don't want you to be stressed. You need to rest and I just-"
,,Hey... Don't think any of this is your fault because it isn't. All what matters is that you are okay. I'm okay and so is the baby, but if you want, I can go and make some tests while we're here." I said and he pulled me closer to him with the arm that wasn't broken.
,,You can do that, but can you promise me to go home tonight? I know you don't want to, but I'm okay now and there is no need to worry anymore."
,,I know, but...." I said and didn't end my sentence and instead just took a deep breath.
,,I know you don't want to, but let's just wait until the doctor tells us more and then we can decide." He said and left a kiss on the top of my head.
,,Okay." I said and leaned against his shoulder not knowing what exactly was hurting him and what wasn't. ,,Are you still in pain?" I asked and he laughed lightly.
,,Yeah, but that's normal. I was in an accident, remember?" He said it with a smile, but all this was scaring me.
My parents died in a car accident. My sister died in a car accident too. And now Shawn almost died in a car accident. Because of all this, I kinda didn't want to get in a car anymore...
,,What does exactly hurt right now?" I asked and looked him in the eyes.
,,Well...My arm hurts like shit just like my leg. And I have like a really uncomfortable feeling in my stomach." He said and gave me a sad smile. I looked down at his stomach, but he was covered with his shirt and a thin blanket. ,,You can look if you want." He said.
,,You sure?" I asked and he nodded.
I put the blanket away and pulled up his shirt. There was a plaster around his torso so I couldn't see anything. I brushed my fingers over the fabric of the plaster and looked up at him.
,,Does it hurt?" I asked and he shook his head.
,,No, I don't know if it hurts at all. It's just a weird feeling." He explained.
,,Why do all people I love have to...?" I asked and stopped myself in the middle of the sentence, but I knew Shawn knew what I wanted to say by the look on his face.
,,Let it out. Let it all out." He said pulling me closer to him. I rested my head on his chest and started to cry lightly.
He rubbed my back lightly understanding why I needed that little moment. I could tell that he knew I was scared of losing him and I was. I was so scared that I didn't even knew what to do. Until now I still hoped it was a dream because seeing him pain was breaking my heart.
,,By the way, I don't know what happened to our car. I completely forgot about that." I said as I wiped a few tears away and he rubbed my arm lightly.
,,And you don't even need to worry about that." He said and suddenly the door to the room opened and Doctor Wilson walked in together with Karen and Manny.
,,My baby! What happened?" Karen asked as she walked in and immediately ran to Shawn and kissed his cheek.
,,I don't know everything either." Shawn confessed and we all looked at the doctor for explanations.
,,Well it's probably already known to you that you had a car crash that could have killed you, but thank God, it didn't. You remain with a broken leg and arm and you also had internal bleedings that we couldn't fully detect at first. But you know all this. Last night you blacked out and we had to do an urgent surgery. Now you are fine and there is nothing you need to worry about anymore." Doctor Wilson said to Shawn.
,,How long do I have to stay here?" Shawn asked.
,,I would say at least one more night. We need to see how everything is going and if everything looks good, then you can go home. You'll only need to come for a control every week." The doctor said.
,,So if everything looks okay, I can go home tomorrow?" Shawn asked and looked at me.
,,Maybe, but maybe not. We'll see." Doctor Wilson said and then checked on Shawn. After he left, Karen told us that she talked with Mary. Mary said she brought Riley to kindergarten and now she's on the way to the hospital.
,,How do you feel?" Manny asked Shawn.
,,Like shit." Shawn answered honestly and chuckled lightly.
,,Do you know anything about the car?" Manny asked us and we both shook our heads. ,,I'll take care of that. I'll be right back." Manny said and left the room with his phone.
,,Can you give me that plastic bag?" Shawn asked and Karen reached for the small plastic bag next to Shawn's stuff and handed it to Shawn.
In the bag were his phone, wallet, keys and his ring. Shawn took the ring out of the bag and slipped it over his finger. I smiled at him and he gave me a smile back before he leaned in to pick my lips.
,,New York is sick! There was another accident where again a car drove with full speed in another. This time it was way worse and both drivers died. That's at least what they said on the radio." Mary said the moment she walked in the room.
,,The same scenario?" Karen asked and Mary nodded. ,,What the fuck?"
,,Exactly!" Mary said and sat down on a chair. ,,Riley said I should give you hugs and kisses from her." Mary said and then did just that.
Mary went later to pick up Riley and brought her to the hospital to visit Shawn. She was so happy to see he was okay just like everyone else.
She was so careful with him and didn't jump in his lap like she would normally do. She treated him like one of her precious toys and that was so sweet to watch.
Thank god he was fine because if he wouldn't have been then I don't even wanna know how my life would've looked like without him. I don't even wanna start thinking about it.
