A Poppy Field In the United Kingdom, London 1215

Life and Death have been around long before now, but the universe had decided to bestow upon the world, two children, one life, and the other death. They worked together to keep the world balanced.

One day Death was walking through a poppy field when he came across a girl the same age as him, lying in the field wearing a white dress, staring at the sky. Her short dark red hair spread out under her.

He was immediately entranced by her, she was beautiful. Her pale skin and her freckles. She turned her head towards him, her hazel eyes looking over his black suit, all the way up to his dark brown eyes.

"Hello," She said, her soft voice like a melody to his ears.

"Hello," he said and she smiled.

"I'm Life," she said and Death sat down next to her.

"I'm Death," She nodded the smile still on her face. "I feel like your name should be Y/n," he blurted out without thinking.

"Why is that?" Her eyes sparkled with amusement.

"Because you're brave, most people would be running away from me by now," she cocked her head to the side.

"You seem enjoyable to me, why do people always run?" He shrugged.

"Because wherever I go, people die," He seemed sad, Life sat up and moved towards him.

"Well I won't run away," She smiled and he returned it. "I feel like your name should be Thomas, Tom for short,"

"Why Thomas?" She shrugged.

"I don't know, I just like it," She laughed, and again it sounded golden to Death, now Thomas he guessed. "Want to be friends?" Her question shocked him and for a few seconds, he didn't answer, just stared at her. She tensed and a pained look came across her face and Thomas felt his heart clench at the sight.

"It's ok if you don't I was just-"

"I'd love to," He interrupted her. She smiled, relieved.

"Tom! Tom!" Y/n ran through the streets, her heavy dress weighing her down as she ran. She received many dirty looks from the women passing as she ran towards Thomas.

He turned around and she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I've missed you!" He laughed as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Sorry I'm still trying to get back to normal after the war," she pulled away, a frown on her face.

"Really? That was three years ago," he gave a soft smile and moved his hand to her cheek, rubbing his thumb across her soft skin.

"I'm better now, don't worry," She smiled and quickly kissed his lips.

"Are you going to stay now?" He smiled too and wrapped his arms around her again.

"Yes, here to stay," She hugged him and kissed the side of his head.

Tom pulled away and for the first time looked at Y/n and her clothes. He smirked and met her eyes once again.

"That's a lot of layers you got on there N/n," Y/n rolled her eyes.

"I miss the earlier times, it's SO hot in this, and I can barely breath in this corset!" She complained as Tom laughed. "Where are we going next?" She asked and Tom looked at a piece of paper he had conjured out of the air.

"It looks like we will be in Kingston, England for one-hundred and thirty-two years then we are going to Germany for forty-five years then Edinburgh for fifty-five years than New York,"
