Pushing the door open to the local coffee shop your friend told you about yesterday, you took in a deep breath. The sharp smell of ground coffee beans and worn book pages brought a smile to your face as you glanced around the little room. A lone barista was standing behind the counter with a concentrated look on his face as he brewed coffee. He was wearing a cute frilly apron that severely contrasted his tattered flannel underneath. His handsome features took your breath away and you hoped that your face wasn't bright red. Every customer sitting at the numbered tables looked extremely studious and focused as they stared at their notebooks and laptops, and you couldn't help but grin a little wider. You were most definitely going to become a regular here.

Fiddling with the edges of your sleeves, you walked up to the counter and eyed the small menu, quickly deciding to get a simple latte. The boy you had been admiring previously looked up from the cup of coffee he was making and shot you a bright smile. In that moment, you couldn't help but think about how his lifted expression shone like the sun.

"Hi! What can I get you love?" he asked after he placed his finished cup of coffee on the counter and called out a customer's name.

Your voice had suddenly escaped you and you stood there for a solid ten seconds with a red face and wide eyes as you tried to stutter out your order.

The boy merely looked at you with amusement in his eyes as he waited for you to speak, his eyebrows raised and his lips quirked ever so slightly.

"Uh... a uh... can I get a latte?" you barely managed as you continued to pick at your sleeves, avoiding his hazel gaze.

"Sure thing. What's your name?" he asked as he held a plastic cup up along with a pen, waiting for you to answer.

"(Y/N)," you said after a moment's pause.

"Pretty," he winked before turning away and making your coffee, occasionally glancing at you as he did with a calculating look on his face, as if he was internally debating with himself.

Your heart fluttered at his compliment and you couldn't help the small grin on your face as you walked to the corner of the shop to wait for your order. It didn't take long, and after what felt like seconds, you heard his cheery voice call out your name.

Standing up, you smoothed out your shirt nervously before walking up and grabbing your coffee. He seemed to be avoiding your gaze as he busied himself with 'sorting' various ingredients on the counter.

Shrugging it off, you placed your money on the counter top before walking back to the seat, the coffee warming up your hands.

Just as you went to take a sip, you noticed a black scrawl on the cup that was not your name, and right as you flicked your gaze across the writing, you felt the boy's eyes on you.

Blushing beet red, you flashed your gaze to him, considerably flustered.

Glancing back down at the scrawl you read over it a couple more times before glancing back at him and nodding shyly.

You're cute. I'm cute. Wanna go out sometime?
