Dean

THE last time I saw and was with Coach Dean was on her daughter's birthday. Now,as I descended on the stairs,a distance apart I could already see how worry he looked like. I missed him but it isn't the best time for pleasantries,as we again rejoined for Chesca's sake.

Mom is behind me,Mommy-Lola and a househelp were around too. Lahat sila ay nag-aabang sa pagkikita namin ni Coach Dean.

Titig na titig sa akin si Coach,his eyes show tiredness,maybe of too much worry but guised with strict intensity. Tumayo siya agad nang makita ako at sinalubong.

"Dean,nakita mo ba si Ches?" His voice was low and controlled. Hinawakan niya ako sa mga balikat ko. Looking thoroughly at me.

Nagsimula na rin akong mag-panic. Iniisip ko lang kanina na hindi ito seryoso magmula kay Tony pero ngayon ay nagkakatotoo na ang lahat sa harapan ko. What is happening?

"No,Coach." I answered meeting his gaze with brows deeply furrowed.

And from that intensity,his eyes dropped as did his shoulders. He stepped back,raking his hair. The atmosphere turned really serious to me now.

"Hindi mo ba siya nakita man lang? Tinawagan ka niya? Kahit ano na magsasabi kung nasaan siya?" His looking at the floor,point blank.

"No,Coach. The last time I saw her was Ajie's birthday. What is happening?" Hindi ko na natiis na itanong.

Coach cursed and turned on his back. Mom went to him. Nag-uusap sila ng mahina na parang ayaw iparinig sa akin.

Gusto kong ulitin ang tanong ko but being pesky at the moment is inappropriate.

I waited until they both turned around. Both looked so worried now. I could even see Coach eyes near in tears.

"Dean,kaninang umaga pa raw hindi umuuwi si Chesca at hindi matawagan-"

"I've known from her teacher that she didn't report to school today and most of her clothes and stuff were missing in her room." Coach cut Mom adding those that made us surprise.

"Ha?" Harap ni Mom sa kanya. Hindi siya makapaniwala,nobody is.

Coach holding himself steady,nodded.

"May boyfriend ba siya?" Mom asked that took my attention.

Pumikit si Coach at hinaplos ang kanyang batok na parang nanakit. "I...don't know. Wala naman akong nalalaman."

Napalunok ako. Should I talk? Should I,right?

"Uhm...." They both looked quickly unto me like they both suspected me. Kay Wil ko lang nalaman na mag-on sina Chesca at Tony,and been keeping a relationship since before Ajie's birthday pa raw. I wasn't that nosy to be interested on somebody's personal affair so I didn't put any mind about it. "Wil told me it's Tony."

Sabay na nagdikit ang mga kilay nila.

"Tony who?" Coach asked.

"Anthony." I said. I bet he knew my cousin Tony since labas-masok kami noon sa bahay nila.

Bit it seemed he couldn't remember anymore. "Sinong Anthony yan?" Nagagalit na ulit niya.

"Anthony Sta Maria,pinsan niya. My god,Dean,hindi mo maalala ang mga kasama ng anak mo?" Mom hysterically answered to him.

Nagtitigan sila. Hanggang sa unti-unti ay nawala ang kunot sa noo ni Coach at natakot ako sa pumalit na ekspresyon niya. He looked cold and angry. His jaw clenched.
