Night of terrors

That night, as I settled down to sleep, I began to feel as though I were being watched and I couldn't help but find myself absolutely terrorfied to open my eyes. I waited for what seemed like forever, wishing to sleep until eventually, I gained the courage to open my eyes and see what was making me feel so uncomfortable.

As I opened my eyes and looked to the bottom of my double bed, I saw her. A young girl with long black hair that appeared to be absolutely drenched. She had beautiful ringlets in her hair and incredibly pale skin and her lips were an icy shade of grey in the dark. Immediately, I placed my hand under my pillow and grabbed my flash light and turned it on.

I pointed the light directly at her to see that her lips were blue and her skin appeared to have a slight tinge of blue, she appeared to be shaking slightly as if she were absolutely freezing and as she lifted her head, I saw that her eyes were missing from their sockets. I stared at her, completely frozen in fear. A single tear of blood fell down her face.

She stood there for a few seconds, just enough time for me to see her face. She appeared to be no older than six or seven years old and before she vanished, she let out a blood curdling scream and as she vanished she seemed to evaporate into dust.

I sat there, unable to look away from the area where she had been stood, for what seemed like a long, terrifying eternity. I couldn't help but feel unsure of whether she truly existed or if it had been no more than my imagination.

Eventually, I put the light on as I continued to search my mind for logical explanations until I finally put it down to my imagination and nothing more. Perhaps it was because I felt absolutely exhausted.

But even though I'd found a logical explanation, I still found myself going to sleep with the lights on. I felt terrified from the thought of seeing her face again. The image of her missing eyes and the single tear of blood remained in my mind until I finally fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, I found that the lights had been turned off whilst I'd been asleep which I tried to figure out how that was possible but I couldn't and for a while I laid in bed, searching for even more logical explanations.

This time, I didn't find one.
