Julie's POV

"What are you doing in here all alone sport?" Jason said coming into the front room as I lazily sat there playing with my phone

"Just taking a break" I shrugged

"How you liking everyone so far?" he asked with a full smile on his face

"Yeah, they're okay" I lied

"Okay?" he said tickling my sides making me giggle

"Awesome?" I said scrunching my nose

"That bad then?" he chuckled

"I guess we just didn't click, I'm going to call Mam and have her pick me up in a little" I said getting a pout from him

"Why? I can take you home.. the barbecue has just started" he said sadly

"I know, but um.. Mam said she wanted me home early, said something about wedding planning and what not" I said trying my best non-convincing lie

"Julie.. if you want to go home I'll take you" he said standing up

"No it's okay, Mam told me sh-"

"Jason there you are! Can you please setup the other grill" Beverly said coming into the front room

"Yeah okay" he sighed walking out

"Why's he gone all upset then? what'd you tell him" she said coming over and standing in front of me

"I didn't tell him anything" I said feeling the need to defend myself and standup to her.

"Don't go playing the orphan card on him, he hasn't been in your life for over sixteen years.. I don't think he would mind another sixteen more" she hissed at me

"What's your problem!?" I snapped

"You're my problem, coming into our lives and trying to interfere with our family" she said stepping closer to me

"You can keep your stupid family to yourself. I'm leaving" I said trying to walk away but she grabbed my arm throwing me back to her making me land on the sofa with a loud thud

"You leave when I tell you to leave" she gritted her teeth whilst squeezing hard on my left shoulder digging her nails into my skin

"Ouch! don't touch me" I said batting her hand away

"Now you listen and you listen close-" she said putting her face closer to mine, I could feel my heartbeat thumping out of my chest as she snarled in my face

"-My family. My rules. You're nothing but a little fun for now, Jason will get sick of you. When you're around here you play by my rules and that means stay the fck out of the way and sit your ass down away from everyone else. Do you understand?" she said pulling on my cheek roughly making me wince

"I said do you understand" she said squeezing my cheek harder making my eyes tear up

"Y-yeah" I stuttered as she released my cheek pushing my face away making me fall back on the sofa. She straightened up smoothing down her white knee length dress before exiting the room leaving me in hysterics.

Julie's POV

"Hey, come get some burgers!" Jason said calling me over to the grill. I was sat alone, in a secluded area, away from everyone. He began to walk over to me when I didn't reply to him

"You gonna eat, or am I going to force feed you?" he said squatting down to me

"I-I'm not really that hungry" I said talking to him with my cheek covered, trying to play it causal
