Austin's POV

Watching Yang and her mother speak to one another, a quiet roar was heard from above us as well as a response.

Ruby: Get him!

I guess they got it.

Ghost: I'm going to go check.

Leaving my head, Ghost headed upwards, leaving me with my own thoughts.

Raven: I warned you Yang. I gave you every opportunity to walk away from Qrow and Ozpin, so you can believe me when I say this wasn't personal.

Yang: You opened the vault.

Raven: Thanks to the chaos you and your friends created.

Oh fuck off with that.

Raven: I knew you could handle it. You are my daughter after all.

Yang: Qrow and Ozpin told me how the Maidens transferred their powers. She has to have entrusted you if you were in her final thoughts.

Raven: I bet they told you plenty about it. And you just sat there and listened to every bit of it.

Austin: And that's where you're-.

Raven: Shut up.

Yang: I started asking questions like you said. So tell me, what happened to the last Maiden? Was it in battle? To sickness?

Raven: What does it matter to any of you?

Yang: I can already see the answer. It's all over your face.

Am I just forgetting so-. Ohhhhh.....

Yang: How could you!?

Raven: She was scared when we found her! Weak! No matter how much training we put her through, she didn't improve. She wasn't cut out for this world! She would have been hunted for the rest of her life!

Austin: So you just killed her?

I could see the mother's emotions slowly come out.

Raven: Shut Up!

Yang: It was personal.

Raven: It was mercy!

Yang: Which is it mom? Are you merciful or are you a survivor? Did you let us walk into that shop because we could handle it, or was it so you can get what you wanted!?

Raven: It's not that simple. You don't know me. You dont know the choices I had to make!

Yang was slowly letting her own emotions out too.

Yang: You're right. I don't know you.

I'm slowly feeling more and more out of place. Ghost, where the hell are you?

Yang: I only knew the Raven dad told me about. She was troubled and complicated, but she fought for what she believed in; For her team and her tribe. Did you kill her too?

She pointed at Vernal's body.

Austin: No. She didn't.

Raven: I stared at death's face over and over again and spat in its face, because I did what no one else had the strength to do!

Uhh...hold up.

Yang: Oh shut up!
