Chapter 47

A few weeks had past, Connie had become calmer although everyone knew Elle was still seeing Cal. Today was their anniversary  of five years but, they had to go to a work event so they planned to go out tomorrow both unaware what would happen tonight.

"Sweetcheeks I promise we can tomorrow." He smiled, while Connie added the final touches to her look. "I know. But why did it have to be today?" She sighed adding her jewellery "I don't know but, I'm sure it will be fun either way." Connie nodded and glanced at herself in the mirror, she smiled seeing the tiny bump under the black floor length dress. Jacob smiled and wrapped his arms around her resting his hands on it, he kissed her cheek "Happy five years Sweetcheeks." She lent her head back "Happy five years to you too Muscles." She smiled before they heard both girls bounding up the stairs.

"Can we come and see!" Grace called, "Yes." Connie laughed, both girls ran in and gasped "Mummy you look like a princess." Ivie smiled sweetly, "Yeah mum you look really nice." Grace added. Connie smiled "Thank you." She knelt down and hugged both girls, kissing their foreheads "I'll see you both tomorrow, Love you." She smiled before walking down. Jacob came and hugged them "I never knew you two were so good a keeping secrets, we will see you in two days." He laughed "Bye daddy." Ivie smiled "Bye dad, don't get too drunk." Grace laughed as did Jacob.

They arrived at the event, a few members off Darwin were there. Connie smiled over before they walking inside taking their seats around a large circular table where the rest of the ED were to join them. It was a large space, dimly lit but still elegant.

They were about halfway through the awards when Hanssen took to the stage, everyone clapped him for the second time that night. "Thank once again, now today is a special day for two people and I'm glad they decided to come here instead of doing their own thing because if not this whole thing would be ruined. I don't want to talk anymore because Mrs.Masters might kill me so instead I'll leave you with the hospital staff." He smiled and walked over, Connie and Jacob frowned as a video began to play.

"Oh God Connie and Jacob, well they are like chalk and Cheese. But they work so well, he really changed her and they deserve everything they have." Lily smiled before the clip moved to Lofty who had now left the hospital, "Well I was the first to find out about you guys and I was shocked to say the least, but you two have gone on and had a beautiful little girl and raise two beautiful children with amazing personalitys. You work because you love eachother and in my opinion you are eachothers best friend... a world without Connie and Jacob just doesn't seem right anymore." The clip then went to Dylan "I do have patients to be treating-" "Dylan just say a few words" Noel spoke from behind the camera making everyone laugh "Fine. He is mental, he got shot for her but from what I heard he got her in that mess in the first place. She is also crazy for letting him but, I can't imagine the pair apart." "I suppose that will have to do." Noel sighed. Jac came on the screen "Well, Connie... you got a better fairytale then you planned. Just you and Grace next thing I hear your having a child with this Jacob and I'm so confused because you have no heart. But then I see you together and you really do. That's all I have to say because I couldn't care less right now." The camera cut to David "Hi Um yeah, I only just found out they weren't married. They are nice and if they get on then yeah good for you guys." It moved Robyn "Five years is a big achievement, especially in this place. It's been a good five years I'm sure, I love seeing both your girls grow and I'm so glad another is on the way. You are two amazing people and honestly I think I'd cry if you two ever left holby or eachother." It moved to Max "Well well well, 'it's not like that your helping her' were the words that fell from your lips I remember." Max smirked "Here we are five years later, a child a name change an engagement. Drinks with Jacob always result in him banging on about Connie or the kids and on the night it gets frustrating but, actually it just proves how much he cares about them all. You guys just can't break up its not right." It moved to Noel "The day you walked through the ED doors and corrected me about your name, that's when I knew this was serious. It wasn't just a romance it was the long run you two were in for and I'll tell you all know when they walk through them door you can sense the mood they are in but they always leave In a happier mood then before. The effect they have on eachother is crazy, she can be in tears and he calms her in seconds. They are perfect and I can't imagine life with out their family." It moved to Jack who had left "Your kid is adorable! And I hear another is on the way and people were betting twenty it's a girl... I miss seeing you guys all loved up that's one thing I can say. You still love eachother the same your love never changed of became boring.... so I hope you have fifty more years worth of happiness and love." It flicked to tess "I never met Jacob but from what I heard Connie he's made you happy he's shown you how beautiful you really are and I don't think you ever felt that in your life. I'm so happy for you and I hope you stay this happy." It moved to Alicia "I don't really know what to say other than I hope someone can love me the way Jacob loves her I also hope I can love someone the way Connie loves him. They are so unlikely yet so right for eachother, opposites attract I suppose." It flicked to Elliot "Connie my dearest friend, I miss you cutting open people but the ED I heard is good for you. You are an exceptional heart surgeon and doctor and before you met Jacob you could never switch that off. He makes you the happiest I've ever seen you, you have everything you wanted and more. I'm so happy for the pair of you have an amazing anniversary." It moved to Louise "He's a good one I will say that, he took her in when she needed help the most and he kept his promise. He's kept her safe throughout everything, their relationship is so adorable you walk around and you can hear them having a tiny argument infront of patients making them laugh or you know one of them has had a tough case and they confort eachother, or you can hear them being all cute. They there is the children who have impeccable manners and are genuine loverly girls. Like you guys say we are like a family and this family isn't complete without you two." It moved to Duffy "Well second to last, I have to say something amazing now. I joined the team again a year ago now, and I've seen so many emotions from the pair of them but, they fight through and I find that beautiful because she can be so mad at him but, she can't be for longer than an hour. She has too much to tell him, it's like when you fell out with you best friend as a child you would be so mad but you would find something out so you had to apologise so you could gossip. I wouldn't call them best friends because then their love would be different, their love is stronger than I think I have ever seen in a couple and I am so happy for them." The video faded to black for a second before Charlie appeared, "First seeing Jacob my mind was player. He doesn't seem like the guy to settle down and have kids until you get to know him. I think of Connie as my own daughter and I was genuinely worried she would get hurt but, if anything she became happier and im so glad they found eachother. As their love progressed I became less worried and realised I'm a really bad judge of character. I remember one time in the first year you had an argument argument and he drove you hear like you asked." He laughed as he remembered "You came in and told me and I told you that you were being daft then you were back out and it all fell into place your life, everything. I do feel slightly sorry for Jacob having to deal with you being so stubborn all the time but, somehow he puts up with it all. They way you got together was very unconventional but ever since its been loverly and I love seeing how well you raise my grandchildren and I love how Jacob takes Grace under his wing and how that's his daughter and you don't question it. Connie my one piece of advise it He is a really good one and after five years if you can't work that out you are an idiot so please don't let him go. Happy anniversary."

The video ended, both Connie and Jacob now crying everyone clapped as Hanssen walked back to the stage "Well this award goes to the pair of you. Longest running couple. I can't think of a better couple to take it." He smiled Jacob stood up taking Connie's hand, he pulled her up and into his side "Did you know about this?" She whispered as they walked "Do I look like I knew?" She gently hit his chest making everyone laugh. He smiled at her "Bye the way we aren't going home tomorrow." He added swiftly before they got in the stage.

"Jacob what are you talking about?" She glared "just an extra night in the hotel don't worry." He smiled, she pushed her tongue in her cheek and walked over "You are the biggest-" "Idiot I know. But you love me." He laughed, "You lucky I do." She smirked before standing in front of the microphone, Jacob stood behind with his hands on her shoulder. "Well this was unexpected." She laughed wiping her cheeks "All I can say is thank you." "Well aren't you a good one with words." Jacob smirked "Go on then you give a speech." She smirked "Er well... see-" " Yeah yeah we all know you're scared." She laughed as did everyone else.

They were soon back at the hotel, Jacob lay on the bed with Connie over his waist. "I love you so much." She smiled, "I love you more." He smiled she lent down and kissed him "Tonight was..." "unexpected." He laughed "We have been together half a decade." She smiled, "Yeah... sadly." He teased. She hit his arm making him flip them over, she giggled as he did. Their kiss deepened instantly, he removed the robe she had on revealing her bare skin, he gently kissed down her front making her tingle,A moan left her lips before his attached to them.

The pair were soon asleep their bodies intertwined with one another.
