5. Leave

I can hear a steady beeping sound, I see a blurry white light, I taste something metallic in my mouth, I feel cold air passing by my arms, I smell I strong tropical perfume, which made my eyes flash open.

I seen Lydia and Allison sitting in chairs, Allison was sleep and Lydia was fixing her eyeliner.

I seen machines hooked up, and needle in my arms, I took a deep breath "where am I" I asked, Allison shot up and walked out "she's up" Allison said "I'll be there in a moment, we're very crowded" a doctor told her.

A small framed lady with brown hair in a nurses outfit walked in "hi I'm ms. McCall, Scott's mom" she said reaching for a hand shake, I shook it, we had the same cold hand.

"Why am I here" I asked "um, Aubrey, you jumped off of the cliff on lookout point" ms. McCall told me, my memory became entering my head "I fell" I lied "we gave you a blood test and you didn't take your prescription, do you think that could be a reason" she ask, I stayed silent "we also came across something else, some of these bruises on your body isn't from the fall, it's from direct impact as if you were in a fight" she said "when can I leave" I asked "we need you to take psychological test before you're discharged" she told me "okay" I said, she rushed out to help other patients.

"Why didn't you tell us, you were suicidal" Lydia asked "it's not something I'd put on my résumé" I said, "who found me" I asked "Scott did, you weren't answering your calls so we went looking for you" Allison explained "when did you guys get back from the cross country meet" I asked "earlier today" Lydia said "Aubrey, are we triggering something, because if we are you can back off" Allison told me, Olga came in the room "thank you girls for staying with Aubrey" Olga said "we'll talk later, feel better" Lydia told me.

I changed out of the hospital gown and into the clothes Olga bought over, "where did all the bruises come from" she asked "I can't tell you" I said "yes you will, or else" Olga threatened me "why the hell do you even care" I yelled "because I'm not letting anyone get away with this" she pulled up my shirt revealing a long stitched up cut down my side "and what made you even think that you should kill yourself" Olga asked "Olga I fell, I dropped my earring on the ground, I was searching for it and my foot slipped" I lied "there were pieces of cement in your body" she told me, "can we just go home" I asked she took a deep breath.

I laid down on my stomach so that I wasn't pressing down on the bruises on my back, everything has been happening so fast I'm not sure I can keep up, this is their everyday life, people fight and die all in one day.

I woke up and got dressed into a long sleeve and jeans, anything that's gonna cover up my skin, the bruises on my neck and face I covered up with makeup easily. I walked out of my room and downstairs miguel was waiting for me "what" I asked "let's go, I'm taking you to school" he said, I rolled my eyes at him and grabbed my book bag.

We sat in the car "are you picking me up too" I asked "no, olga is" he said "why are you ruining my life" I asked "are you kidding me, why are you being an ungrateful little shit, we are using all our power so we won't have to get a phone call saying you're dead" he yelled.

"And it's not like your gonna tell us what happened and who did this to you so we have to resort to this" he added "they are small bruises that I got from the fall, but I've taken my medication, I'm fine now" I argued.

He pressed down on my shoulder where a bruise was pain spread all throughout my arm making me wince in pain, "do you know what a bruise is" he asked, I knew he was gonna tell me so I didn't bother saying anything "internal bleeding, you can die like that" he answered for himself  "I wish I can tell you but I just can't so please leave me alone" I mumbled full of pain and not only because of the bruise, he pulled up to the school and I immediately walked out.
