-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I sat nervously with my mom, dad, and sister. I couldn't even eat dinner I was so scared.

"Mitchell, why aren't you eating?" My mom asked concerned, putting down her fork.

"I-I'm... not hungry."

My sister scoffed and drank her water, I glaring at her.

"Mitch, that's the oldest excuse in the book." My dad said, putting down his burger.

My legs started to shake and I was getting very nervous.

"I-I have something to t-tell you." I said with my head down.

"What is it, darling?" My mom asked, the whole room getting silent.

This is it Mitch, just break it to them slowly. I looked up from my lap and took a deep breath and said the words,

"I'm gay."

Everyone's faces fell slightly, my dad's falling the most.

"What?" My dad said, sterning his tone.

"I-I like boys." I said, getting scared at his voice.

My sister just went back to eating, but still had a weird look on her face.

"Sweetie..." My mom began.

"Mom, I'm not joking. This is who I am. I was born this wa-"

My dad slammed his fists on the table, startling everyone.

"You, were not, born this way. You weren't born like this, Mitchell. You can't be born like that, and you know that." My dad spat out, my sister getting scared.

"Yes I was Dad, this is who I am." I argued back, shrinking down in my seat when he got up.

"This is not who you are! I wanted a straight son, and that's who you're going to be!" My dad yelled, making my sister run upstairs.

"Y-You can't decide who I am." I said quietly, my dad walking towards me and holding my shirt collar.

"No! Shut up! I'm your father, and I did not raise you like this!" My dad yelled, pulling my collar, making me nervous.

"Honey-"

"No! You're not apart of this!" My dad yelled to my mom.

I started to cry and my dad turned back around.
