Knocking on the door, you paused, trying not to burst into tears on the doorstep.

Loosing your trust in Niall had been hard and it'd been hard to try and accept the fact that the words he had spoken were towards you, but you wanted an explanation, so you came.

"Hey, you came." Niall smiled and you looked up to see he had opened the door.

"Yeah." You replied, shortly, stepping inside.

He closed the door behind you, heading into the living room where you followed him.

"It's nice of you to come. I-I didn't know if you would." He said and you shrugged, trying not to show him how emotional you were feeling.

"I'm here for an explanation." You said, quietly and he nodded.

"I know and I'm not sure where to start. I'm so sorry for my horrible attitude, I was out of order. I was in a bad mood and I took it out on you, but I didn't mean a word I said to you. Y/N, you deserve the utmost happiness and I didn't think I could ever give you that as a friend, I felt useless." He explained, his eyes soft and genuine.

"I'm not someone who expects the world and more Niall, I just wanted a good friendship with someone I could trust. Am I asking for too much?" You replied.

His eyes fluttered closed as he let out a sigh, shaking his head.

"No, Y/N, of course your not. I-I just feel like you deserve more." He said, wholeheartedly.

"Okay, well I disagree."

"Why?"

"Niall, I was happy because I finally had a friend, a friend who stayed with me at lunchtimes, instead of leaving me, someone I thought I could trust. Don't you understand that I don't want anything more? I just wanted to be happy." You told him, seriously.

His eyes softened and a wave of hurt seemed to hit him, before he blinked it away quickly.

"I'm sorry, I was happy too." He whispered, sadly.

"Then why did you throw it all away?" You questioned.

"I didn't mean to, you've been such a good friend to me, I never meant to throw it back at you." He told you, sincerely.

"Okay, then are we done?" You asked.

"I was hoping we could be friends again? At least we could just talk in class until you trust me again." He suggested, hopeful.

"Fine, if that's what you want." You sighed.

"It is, it really is." He whispered.

"Okay, well I'll see you tomorrow." You said, offering him a small smile.

"Thank you." He smiled back, happily.

He led you to the door and you said your goodbyes before you left, feeling relieved for going to talk to him.

You still felt upset about the whole situation, but you were glad you had managed to work things out and start talking again, it was a start.

"Okay everyone, I want you all to find a partner to work with, while I get the PowerPoint set up." Your teacher explained as you looked at Niall.

"Do you want to work together?" You asked, quietly, hoping he hadn't already found another friend to spend time with.

Ever since you had come back to school, things had been awkward between the two of you, but you felt something for him that you hadn't before and it hit you hard.
